TOP FUEL ROOKIE BRITTANY FORCE LOOKING FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS IN CHICAGO
Chicago, IL – Top Fuel Rookie of the Year contender Brittany Force is looking to make headlines going into this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto
Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago.
Despite a first round loss to seven-time champion Tony Schumacher this past weekend in New Hampshire, Force feels her Castrol EDGE team can get the job done and enters this event 12th in the points standings.
“This weekend I would love to move up in the points and be closer to getting into the No. 10 spot,” Force said. “Going into Chicago, I am motivated to qualify in the top half of the field and go some rounds and even go for our first win.”
The first 11 races of the season have been a test for both Force as well as the John Force Racing organization. The 26-year old daughter of 15-time Funny Car champion John Force became the first driver to compete in the Top Fuel category.
With four round wins under her belt in her rookie year and testing throughout the 2012 season, Force is looking to capitalize on that and views this as an advantage.
“I tested last year in Chicago so that will be an advantage for our team,” Force explained. “Having information to refer to will help my crew chiefs (Dean Antonelli and Eric Lane) on tuning decisions and help them get our car in shape. Returning to a track that I tested at last year will also help me as a driver to feel more comfortable and familiar in the seat.”
As the Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s playoffs, is fast approaching, Force understands the pressure of performing well and believes she and her team have a chance to lock in a position to battle for the championship at season’s end.
“With only seven races until the countdown, I would like to feel secure that my team and I are close and have a chance to take an accomplished standing position for our rookie season with Castrol EDGE,” Force said.
There is no better feeling than having the support of your family when it comes to your career. That is one thing the Cal State-Fullerton graduate understands. As she prepares for the third race on a four race swing, she feels this weekend will be a great one for all of John Force Racing on and off the track.
“I am really looking forward to returning to Chicago, but this time as a competitor in my Castrol EDGE dragster,” Force said. “I remember how great the fans were last year and I’m excited to see and meet them out at the ropes again. I think this will be a good weekend for JFR, especially because we will have our good luck charm, Jacob (Ashley Force-Hood’s son), coming to cheer us on.”
