Success in Norwalk continues for Arana Sr.

NORWALK, OH – Returning to the track where he got his first professional win, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Sr. continued Hector Arana Sr - Norwalkhis success in Norwalk during qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.

Continuing to add achievements to the Norwalk record book, the Lucas Oil Buell rider landed himself a new speed track record during Q3 at 196.93 mph. That 6.871 pass was good enough for Arana to snag the No. 5 qualifying spot, the same place he has qualified the past three race weekends.

“We are still trying to figure these bikes out,” Arana said. “We have finally seen a trend in what is happening and it has given us a good indication of what will happen performance-wise. I tried something different in Q4 to overcome that issue but it didn’t work out. Plus the driver didn’t do his job too well either.

“That last session really got me behind on my tune-up for tomorrow. Other than that though, we’re just going to regroup for eliminations and continue to be consistent all four rounds.”

While Arana has been consistent in recent weekends, years of experience have taught him that you never know what is going to happen in eliminations. “The Hammer” is slated to go up against No. 12 Shawn Gann’s Buell in the first round.

“You can never underestimate your competitor, especially a rider like Gann,” Arana said. “You never know what kind of run to expect when you go up against him. I know that I have to be on my A-game tomorrow in order to keep going rounds.”
