SCOGGIN-DICKEY OFFERS FREE RACER ENTRY FOR GM LSX CHALLENGE SERIES ATLANTA RACE, APRIL 14-17

GRAND BLANC, MI – GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) LSX Challenge Series heads to Atlanta Dragway (Commerce, Ga.), April 14-17, for the second of the four-race points race. And for the second race in a row, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center is picking up the tab for the racer entry fee (up to $195 – including a one-year NMCA membership) for all LSX Challenge competitors.

The Atlanta race comes only a few weeks after the inaugural event at Bradenton, Fla., where the action included a nitrous-assisted 7.91 pass by Mike Meeks, driving his pro-style Firebird in the Drag Radial class, along with the winning performance of Mark Carlyle, who claimed the Drag Radial class trophy against Meeks in his street-driven, turbocharged Corvette Z06. It turned a best time of 8.19 seconds at more than 180 mph. The car is currently the quickest IRS Corvette in the country, with an all-time best ET of 8.15 at 173 mph. Carlyle believes the car will go faster and plans to prove it at the Atlanta race.

The LSX Challenge Series also includes the race at the Holley LS Fest, Sept. 9-11, in Bowling Green, Ky.; and the championship will be decided at the fifth-annual LSX Shootout, Oct. 6-9, in Indianapolis. An agreement with LS Fest organizers allows racers to follow the rules and classes of the LSX Challenge Series, with points awarded applying to the championship.

In addition to sponsoring the entry fee for racers, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center will be on site throughout the event – and at all LSX Challenge Series races – offering technical support and stocking popular parts for purchase. Their product experts bring excellent insight to enthusiasts who want to learn more about building and installing high-performance LS engines, while the Scoggin-Dickey trailer serves as a rolling parts warehouse to help racers who need a last-minute part to keep them in competition.

Scoggin-Dickey’s display in the manufacturers’ midway area will also include the latest GMPP parts, including the new high-flow LSX D/R 11-degree cylinder heads and intake manifold, LSX L92 small-bore heads, LS9 supercharger kits and more. More parts and accessories vendors fill out the manufacturers’ midway and all LSX Challenge Series events incorporate a car show for LS-powered vehicles.

Series details
The LSX Challenge Series represents a major expansion of drag racing with participants using strictly GM production-based LS and GM Performance Parts LSX engines and engine components. Competition includes several racing classes:
·        LSX Drag Radial
·        LSX All Motor
·        LSX Real Street
·        LSX Rumble (Index)
·        5th Gen Camaro Challenge (Index).

Racers competing for the championship must participate in three of the four races, with the LSX Shootout (Indiana) as a required event. The results of each race will be tracked throughout the season in NMCA’s Fastest Street Car.

Along with supporting the LSX Shootout series, GM Performance Parts enables racers to compete and win with a growing range of LSX maximum-performance crate engines and engine parts. They’re suited for drag racing and are designed to support engines making 2,000 horsepower, or more, with supercharging, turbocharging or nitrous. Among them are the LSX Bowtie blocks – including the tall-deck version for building large-displacement engines of up to 500 cubic inches – as well as new drag-race six-bolt cylinder heads, intake manifolds and forged rotating components.

It pays to win
GM Performance Parts will award the fastest LS-powered racers at the LSX Shootout event (Indiana) and pay a $250 bonus to any racer who wins his or her category using an LSX Bowtie engine block.
