Pro Stock’s Camrie Caruso Makes Impressive Showing at NHRA Winternationals

POMONA, CA – Pro Stock standout Camrie Caruso leveled up this weekend during the NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona, Calif. Not only did the skilled driver launch her way onto the ladder with an impressive No. 3 qualifying position, but she also raced to a quarterfinal finish.

After struggling to qualify in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season opener in Gainesville, Florida two weeks prior, Caruso and her team were determined to make a better showing coming into Pomona. Their tenacity and testing certainly paid off as they hit the track with a fantastic first qualifying pass of 6.588 seconds at 208.62 MPH on Friday evening.

Inclement weather on Saturday derailed the usual qualifying schedule but Caruso didn’t let that deter her. As the skies cleared on Saturday evening, she laid down a blistering pass of 6.557 at 208.88 to leap to the No. 3 spot. “We qualified really well,” said Caruso. “After Gainesville, we went back and got to work. We went testing and showed up here ready to rock.”

In the first round of eliminations, Caruso faced off against the No. 14 qualifier Kenny Delco. Her reaction time of .037 seconds gave her the starting line advantage and she held on to it all the way to the stripe turning on the win light with a 6.567 at 209.95 MPH.

Caruso met her KB Titan teammate and five-time Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson in the quarterfinals. Caruso once again got the starting line advantage, but Anderson managed to get around her to take the win.

“I’m really proud of what my guys and I accomplished at this race,” said Caruso. “Obviously, it would’ve been fantastic to win but we’ve come a long way in two short weeks. We have a title to defend in Phoenix and we are looking forward to doing our best out there.”

Caruso will next appear at the NHRA Arizona Nationals on April 5-7 at Firebird Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz., just outside of Phoenix. She won this event in 2023 and will be defending her title.

Qualified: No. 3 (6.557 E.T. at 208.88 MPH)
