Pennzoil support promises best-ever Open House on Sept. 2 for Riley Kids

BROWNSBURG, IN – Pennzoil joins with Don Schumacher Racing to make this year’s 11th annual DSR Open House Riley Children's Foundationto benefit Riley Hospital for Children the best ever with a goal of raising enough to push DSR’s contribution total to Riley Kids to nearly $500,000 over the past 11 years.

One of Indiana’s biggest indoor car shows organized by the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club will be held Sept. 2 (Friday) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at DSR headquarters (1681 E. Northfield Drive, Brownsburg) to help kick off the 62th annual NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway Park and only 2 miles from DSR.

Pennzoil, the “The Official Oil Technology of DSR,” will provide special Open House t-shirts to the first 500 guests attending the free event.

Returning to the event that draws about 5,000 NHRA fans annually will be popular features including autograph sessions with the best current and former drag racers of all time, a big nitro Cacklefest, silent auction with live and on-line participation, various displays and some of the area’s most popular food trucks.

Also available will be tours of the DSR racecar shop that has been expanded by 25,000 square feet that provides even more room for custom cars and motorcycles, muscle cars and hot rods.

Race fans can tour the DSR fabrication shop and see the expanded machine shop.

All eight DSR drivers will be joined by owner Don Schumacher for an hour-long autograph session beginning at 1 p.m.

As an added feature, DSR will honor NHRA’s salute to “50 Years of Funny Cars” with drag racing legends Tom “Mongoose” McEwen, Ed “Ace” McCulloch, Don Schumacher and DSR crew chief and hall-of-famer Mark Oswald participating in an entertaining panel discussion about the early days of “floppers” that will be hosted by legendary drag racing announcer Bob Frey.

DSR’s support for Riley, Indiana’s only comprehensive hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of children, will be extended for a third year by running the #RileyDreamRacer Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car with driver Tommy Johnson Jr. that is funded by Terry Chandler.
