PAUL YOUNG TAKES TNT SUPER SERIES WIN AT LANCASTER

JAN WINKOWSKI SCORES TOP ET WIN; EARNS LEHIGH CONSTRUCTION BONUS

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway played host to the first race of the year for the Joe’s Paul YoungTransmission TNT Hot Rod Super Series. It was the first of three visits to Lancaster’s 1/8-mile IHRA drag strip scheduled by the TNT Super Series.

Paul Young took home the season opening win in his 1966 Ford Fairlane after Jeff Sobczynski red lighted in the final round.

In regular Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing action, Jan Winkowski of Cheektowaga bested the field in McGard Top ET in a heads up final against Jeff Sobczysnki. Sobczysnki found himself on the losing end of the final round for a second time as Winkowski beat him with a 7.006 second elapsed time to Sobczysnki’s 7.017.

Winkowski earned a bonus for the win courtesy of Lehigh Construction, who provided a special boost to the regular weekly purse.

Clay Ricketson of Marilla, NY won in Mod ET in a double breakout over John Cira, Jr. Ricketson went just one one-thousandth of a second quicker than his 7.57 dial-in.

Mike Campagna of Gasport, NY triggered the win light in the Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds. Campagna defeated Brian Babiak in the final pair aboard his 1971 Kawasaki.

In Street ET it was Tim Markle of Hilton, NY winning in the final round over Nick Morrissey.

IHRA Drag Racing continues at Lancaster on May 29 with a special appearance by Al Hanna’s Jet Funny Cars. All of the regular weekly Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing classes will be on the race card.
