Race Report – Alan Johnson Racing 27th annual NHRA Topeka Nationals

Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 5 qualifier at the NHRA Topeka Nationals. During the second round of Shawn Langdonqualifying on Friday, Langdon needed just 3.760 seconds to reach the finish line at 327.19 mph. It was the fifth time in the season’s eight races that Langdon has qualified in the top-five positions.

Eliminations: Langdon posted a 3.782-second effort at 317.49 mph in the first round of eliminations, but it was not enough to defeat Doug Kalitta’s 3.751-second pass. It was Langdon’s third consecutive first-round loss.

Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon dropped three spots to seventh place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings. Although Langdon will be seventh following the completion of the rain-delayed race, the drivers that occupy the sixth and eighth positions will be determined upon completion of the event.

Langdon on Topeka: ““The Knuckle Sandwich/Bass Pro Shops Toyota dragster made some good progress this weekend. We made two excellent runs in Topeka, and that’s more than we could say last weekend so our test session definitely helped. All of that’s good, but we still lost in the first round. We’ll get up, dust ourselves off and get ready for the Toyota SummerNationals in two weeks – it’s good to know that we’re at least moving in the right direction. Now we have to win some rounds and start moving back up in the point standings. Thanks again to everyone at Toyota for believing in us and supporting us. We’ll get back on track.”

Next Race: Alan Johnson Racing will be back in action June 5-7, 2015 at the 46th annual Toyota NHRA SummerNationals in Englishtown, N.J. For additional information, please visit nhra.com. For additional information on Alan Johnson Racing, please visit alanjohnsonracing.com.
