No Prep and Cash Days Finally Moves West- Bluebaugh Wins

The next generation of Wicked Fast Street Car Racing has finally arrived in the West with a real Street Race flair. bluebaugh-racingBluebaugh Racing is more than serious competition ready for change and proved it bringing the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo out of retirement to win the Desert Storm Cash Days big tire class, October 2nd 2016 at the Tucson Dragway in southern Arizona.

The “Magna Fuel” and “WFO Racing and Machine” sponsored team ran five hard rounds in a single afternoon to get the win making it the most rigorous race day ever with no room for error. There was some fast competition present said Bluebaugh and we could not have done it without solid teamwork. We won doing what we usually do and that’s staying sharp and consistent every pass through the chaos.”

Just the weekend before, the new Arizona No Prep Racing Association also held its inaugural race in Tucson turning out an excellent and competitive car count. Bluebaugh and the team suffered a battery failure in the final at the No Prep taking 2nd place with a WFO Racing and Machine prepared Camaro designed to compete on the Street Race Scene. Crew Chief, Deborah Woodard said the “No Prep” and “Street Outlaws” oriented style offers a much different racing challenge where less power can equal more on race day.

The management of power in the race car is different and we had to really hold the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo back. We were unsure how it would do honestly especially with a clutch, but we trusted our knowledge and skill to put both our cars in a final round two weekends in a row after not racing for 3 years. We are happy to be back at it and to have a place again where we can compete again. We believe this new style of racing will generate new enthusiasm bringing racers like us back to the track again and encourage newer racers to compete.”

Both events felt more like a late night street race with drivers drawing for the competition every round. It was an exciting double header of racing two weeks in a row with both old generations and new generations of racers really meeting for the first time in a heads up challenge. People came from all over and out of state for the events showing a strong potential for future events. Race promoters seem as well enticed with the possibilities as the events saw both new and seasoned promoters taking notice of the changes to the racing scene.

Everyone hopes that No Prep, Cash Days, and other “Street Outlaws” styled events will take hold in the West despite some initial glitches. Most everyone has been well intentioned as both promoters and racers have worked together to figure out how to make it work and keep it going. The Tucson Dragway was an excellent host with a friendly environment and no hassle atmosphere, perfect for the occasion. Arizona No Prep Racing Association has submitted a proposal to the track for future events already; however a schedule has not been published. Best of all, the races were affordable again for all to attend and compete and the odds were equaled.

Bluebaugh Racing will attend next; the West Coast Hotrod Associations (WCHRA) Shoot Out at Sundown, Street Outlaw Big Tire Challenge upcoming November 4th- 5th also being held in Tucson. It appears that the Tucson Dragway will be the new hotspot for these types of venues. Photo’s Courtesy Krookid Photography – Deborah WFO, October 2016 www.worldsfastestorganization.com
