Newcomers Prevail at Huntsville

Huntsville, AL – One of the unique rules about the 4.70/4.50 Quick Outlaw Series events is that you do not have to be a member to participate and race for the full purse.  Mike Clark from Louisville KY and Andy Anderson from Huntsville AL took full advantage of the opportunity to collect $10,000 and $7,500 respectively for their wins last Saturday night at Historic Huntsville Dragway.

Clark, driving his beautiful late model Camaro put on a reaction time clinic through six rounds of action, excluding his round 4 bye run, he averaged an unheard of .011 on the .400 pro tree.

Fellow Kentuckian Rick Harless was Clark’s opponent in the final round but his .019 RT and 4.713 could not get around the winning .007 RT 4.712 elapsed time.

Mooresville runner-up Jonathon Gibbs was the lone semi-finalist.

Coolshirt Systems again posted bounties on previous Champ Tyler Allen and previous event winner Jason Hutcheson. Dale Freeman collected $150 for his round 3 win over Hutcheson and Harless added $150 to his winnings by defeating Allen in round 2.

Anderson, representing Huntsville Engines and Performance qualified last in the 19 car field with a too quick 4.48 on the 4.50 index but got it figured out in time for eliminations. Solid reaction times and every run in the 4.50-4.51 et range capped off race day with a victory over Lane Dicken.

Dicken had a bye in the semis and Anderson disposed of Joseph Bagwell, 4.501 to a losing 4.509. Anderson’s consistency continued with a 4.506 win over Dicken’s 4.511.

In the $1,000 Jr Dragster final, Arylenn Garner defeated Hope Capley.

Don Bradford defeated Meldric Wilson in an all dragster final for the $5,000 bracket shoot out.

The next Vergemotorsports.com 4.70/4.50 event will be held at Beech Bend (KY) Raceway August 21.
