Kitchener, ON – With its historic first event in the books, the NDRA Alcohol Funny Car Series presented by Ohsweken Speedway will host its second event this coming weekend as part of the 3rd Annual Canadian Nitro Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park, located near Cayuga, Ontario.

Larry Dobbs and his Sportz sponsored Kardiac Kids Funny Car, who took home the trophy and a $3,500 cheque for their triumph at the first event, will be the team that everyone is gunning for this weekend. “We had a terrible outing in Chicago at the NHRA divisional event so we’re just looking forward to getting out again and trying some new things,” mentioned Dobbs.

“Our sponsors are going to be at this event doing some promotional things for the fans and it’s nice to be close to home which means we’ll have lots of people supporting us this time out. We can’t thank Ohsweken Speedway and the NDRA enough for giving us this opportunity and we’re looking forward to a great weekend!”

The field for this weekend’s event will also include 3-time IHRA World Champion Rob Atchison and his Atchison Machine Service/West Coast Transportation Monte Carlo bodied Funny Car, who will be making his first appearance with the NDRA in 2012. “It’s gonna be exciting to get the newcar out and see how it runs,” said Atchison. “I might be a bit rusty because I haven’t been in the Funny Car for a year now but this weekend will definitely be fun!”

Joining the NDRA at this event will be Gary Kraus, wheeling his Nitro Pony Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car, who will be making exhibition runs throughout the weekend, which will be an added bonus for the fans.

This year’s edition of the Canadian Nitro Nationals will once again feature a match race between NHRA Full Throttle Series standouts Cruz and Tony Pedregon. Both drivers are two-time world champions and will make passes on both Saturday and Sunday this year, along with the Nitro Funny Cars of IHRA World Champ Dale Creasy Jr. and Jack Wyatt. There will be an all-Canadian, East vs. West battle for bragging rights in Top Fuel with Tim Boychuk and Ike Maier facing off against eachother.

Racing starts Friday with the NDRA taking to the track for their first of three qualifying sessions on Saturday at 4:00 PM. For the full event schedule visit www.torontomotorsportspark.com.
