Morgan Lucas returns to Top Fuel for Protect The Harvest NHRA Nationals
SEATTLE – Twelve-time national event winner Morgan Lucas will return to the Top Fuel wars during the 29th
annual ProtectTheHarvest.com NHRA Northwest NHRA Nationals presented by Lucas Oil this weekend at Pacific Raceways, driving his Protect The Harvest/Lucas Oil dragster.
Lucas has raced twice in 2016, the last time in Gainesville, Fla., in March. He and wife Katie enjoyed the birth of their second son, Austin, in May, and he has been spending time with family, in addition to his duties at Lucas Oil.
“I’m very excited to drive again,” Lucas said. “We had our second son, Austin, who is a big, happy, blue-eyed, awesome baby. It’s been great getting to watch him grow the first couple of months. Now it’s time to go have some fun and do it at the Protect The Harvest Nationals.”
Protect The Harvest seeks to inform American consumers, businesses, and decision-makers about threats posed by animal-rights and anti-farming extremists. The organization works to protect citizens’ freedoms by creating lasting legal safeguards for farmers, ranchers, hunters, anglers, and animal owners, mainly by responding to the activities of radical groups by opposing efforts to pass laws or enact regulations that would restrict citizens’ rights, freedoms, and hinder access to safe, affordable food. “It’s a big deal for us,” Lucas said. “It’s my dad’s legacy, and we want to make sure we go up and represent him well and try to spread the word of what the mission is: Preserving rights for people and to keep food on their tables. He’s really passionate about it. We’re trying to get people to do some homework on it, and this is a great opportunity to do that.”
Lucas Oil co-founders Forrest and Charlotte Lucas formed Protect The Harvest in 2014 to actively inform and communicate with the general public about issues regarding agriculture, hunting, fishing, and animal ownership.
Lucas’ Morgan Lucas Racing dragster will be wrapped in a special Protect The Harvest scheme for the Seattle race.
“The good thing for me is my son, Hunter, loves the color blue,” Lucas said. “We’ll have a considerable amount of blue on the car, and it will make it fun for him to watch on TV.”
