MONSTER ENERGY’S BRITTANY FORCE QUICK ON FRIDAY IN ENGLISHTOWN

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – The Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster and Brittany Force started the NHRA Brittany Force - Friday, Englishtown, Ron LewisSummernationals with a bang finishing the first day of qualifying as the No. 6 Top Fuel dragster at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. The third year pro made the third quickest run of the first session picking up qualifying bonus points and giving her team the best opportunity to improve in the second night session. Force’s first run of 3.779 seconds at 321.27 mph afforded her the chance to run as half of the last pair of dragsters.

In the second session Force was paired J.R. Todd who was quickest of the first session. Both drivers were trying to chase down Antron Brown’s 3.725 second run. Force came close with an improved 3.747 second run at 322.50 mph. Two strong back-to-back runs had the NHRA Kansas Nationals semi-finalist in good spirits heading into the second day of qualifying.

“We are looking forward to going into qualifying tomorrow. Our goal right now is to get four good qualifying runs with this Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster. We have two down and two more to go. We are No. 6 at the end of the day and starting with a 4.77 and then stepping up to a 4.74 is outstanding. We want to put some more quick numbers on the scoreboard and then go after it on Sunday,” said Force.

The first day of qualifying at the 46th annual Toyota NHRA Summernationals went well for Courtney Force and her Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car team. The 26-year-old driver made two strong passes down the drag strip to qualify in the No. 6 position. Force will have two chances to improve on her time and position on Saturday.

“It’s great to be out here at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park this weekend,” said Force. “Englishtown is always a fun market to come to with all of these fans and it’s great to be on the East Coast again. I’m excited to have our Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro out here running good numbers so far.”

In the first qualifying session, Force laid down a 4.074 second run at 305.77 mph, but improved during the Friday night session with a 4.003 second run at 310.63 mph.

“In Q1 we ran a 4.07 and improved in Q2 when the track cooled down and ran a 4.00. We keep spinning the tires down track so that’s the only thing we really need to work on tomorrow and improve on. We’re looking forward to Q3 and hopefully we can continue to have some quick, consistent passes down this race track,” said Force.

Courtney Force’s Funny Car teammates had mixed results on Friday. John Force and the Peak Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car will advance to the second round of qualifying as the No. 12 provisional qualifier on the strength of their first run of the day. Force’s Peak backed Funny Car posted a 4.086 second run which was 9th quickest of the first session and only slipped back three slots by the end of the day. Force, the 16-time Funny Car champion, was running beside teammate and son-in-law Robert Hight in both sessions.

Hight and the Auto Club Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car quickest run of the day was 4.26 seconds in the first session. In the second session Hight’s Camaro lost power after about 200 feet and coasted across the finish line in 7.639 seconds. The 2009 Mello Yello NHRA Funny Car champion will have two more chances to qualify tomorrow.
