Sacramento, CA – Marc Meadors with his Pure Hell 2 ’69 Camaro was up to his usual devilish tricks torturing opponents in the Pro Slammers Door Car Association’s Pro Mod class at Sacramento Raceway Park’s 2nd Annual Door Car Shootout.  The Tim Mcamis built race car swept all honors running low elapsed time (6.174); top speed of the meet (246.45); and, a win over the track record-holder Bret Williamson in the final round.

Williamson seemed to have the early edge, qualifying #1 at 6.249-234.57 with Meadors a few clicks back at 6.288-216.93.  In the run for the money, Marc left first (.070 to .091), but Bret never flinched, pressing the Danville driver for the lead.  The track had cooled dramatically from the prior round and Meadors had trouble keeping the potent Camaro stuck and had to caress the pedal several times from mid-track on. In the opposite lane, Williamson was ready to say, “See ya” when the blower belt came off, leaving the bewildered driver helpless.  He was later heard wondering when he was going to win one of “these things”.

In contrast to the Pro Slammers Pro Mod class, no such clear-cut domination exists in the 7.60 and 6.90 Pro Slammers classes. In the three events contested so far, no one driver has been able to dominate or win more than one race.  In 6.90 Slammers, the win this time went to Jerry Jahnsen who took out the defending class champion, Mike Doushgounian, in the final round.  Doushgounian, the number one qualifier at 6.959, definitely had the best car, running consistent 6.90s throughout eliminations, including a 6.906 in E1.

But, when Jerry laid down a near perfect 6.901 in the final round, Mike had no choice but to stay on the throttle and subsequently broke out at 6.868. As a side note, Justin Wake, absent at the first two races, is back and looking very quick. So quick, that he had a hard time keeping the orange and black Camaro out of the 6.8s, eventually DQing with a 6.865 in E1.  In 7.60 Slammers, the Rob Patten versus Mark Lawson battle for class supremacy was renewed once again. This time it was Lawson over Patten on a hole shot.  Mark, the #1 qualifier, jumped out to a .027 advantage at the start, and by two ten thousandths of a second, held off Rob’s hard-charging ‘Vette.  The next event for the Pro Slammer Door Car Association( PSDCA) sponsored by Scrappers Racing is Fever Car Fever June 15-16 at Sacramento Raceway Park.
