Hutcheson and Click Continue New Trend of Repeat Winners

Mooresville, NC – The Verge Motorsports 4.70/4.50 Outlaws went 10 races without repeat winners in either class.  Chris Vanover broke that string at the previous event with his 2nd win in the G-Tech Cleaner 4.70 Class.  Last week in Mooresville NC Jason Hutcheson broke through for his 2nd win and Carroll Click did the same in Outlaw Trailers 4.50 Dragster.

Hutcheson, using stellar reaction times, left first in 5 out of 6 rounds and drove the finish line to perfection to claim the $10,000 Purse. After an overnight rain delay and the inability to settle a split, he defeated Neal Brown’s Chevy II on Sunday morning. That set up the final round with Mooresville’s own Donnie Gibbs Jr., who had the bye run in the semi-finals. Jason left first and ran a 4.725 to defeat Gibb’s 4.723.

In 4.50 dragster Carroll Click won the coin flip to be declared the victor over J.Holston.  Click defeated a red-lighting Steve Maddox in the semis as Holston took his bye. Click became just the third driver to win 2 races in the series and the first to win in back-to-back races.

Jr Dragster settled their score also with a coin flip and Chaz Nichols was declared the winner over Steven Rogers.

Tim Ballard of Ripley MS beat out Hutcheson by 9 miles for the World Wide Express Long Haul Award.

The next 4.70/4.50 Event is at Beech Bend Dragway (Bowling Green KY) on September 3,2022. Visit VergeMotorsports.com for information.
