FORCE WINS FOR SECOND TIME IN 2014 AND BRANDSOURCE PRESENTS FAN WITH TV

NORWALK, OH – NHRA Funny Car champion John Force won for the second time in 2014 and for the first time at famed Summit Brand SourceMotorsports Park on Sunday July 6th. The legendary driver had never taken his Castrol GTX High Mileage Funny Car to the winner’s circle at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in seven previous attempts but the eighth time was the charm. Force out raced Tim Wilkerson, Chad Head, Cruz Pedregon and finally Ron Capps to get his 140th career win.

The win put a 55” flat screen TV in the hands of Chad Vanbuskirk of Urbana, Ohio, compliments of BrandSource and the “Win with Force” promotion. This was the seventh win for John Force Racing this season.

“The Norwalk win was special to me. I have come to Norwalk decades ago for their Night of Fire events and match races but never won the NHRA event here, and I want to win every race. I came close a few times racing against Ashley and Courtney but I never won the big one at this place. I just couldn’t get a NHRA national event win here and I won them all with the exception of Epping so I really wanted this win,” said John Force.

Going into race day, John Forces Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang had qualified second with a thundering 4.016 second run at 322.04 that set the track speed record at Summit Motorsports Park. Crew chief Jimmy Prock and the rest of the team knew just how far they could push the track conditions without blowing away the massive Goodyear slicks under Force’s Mustang.

“That (crew chief) Jimmy Prock, I gotta give it to him. He works with the whole brain trust and calls were being made and they were being made right. Jimmy always swings for the fences and we started out the season killing ‘em and setting national records. Then all of a sudden, our choke got stuck and had five straight first round losses but Jimmy made some changes and good calls and now we’re back on track,” said John Force.

At each NHRA national event when a JFR team qualifies No. 1 a lucky fan that has signed up at the JFR “Win with Force” display located in Nitro Alley will be eligible to win the BrandSource No. 1 Qualifier Award, a front loading washer and dryer set.  If a JFR driver wins the event a different fan will win the 55” flat screen TV Winner’s Circle Award from BrandSource.  At the end of the season a grand prize winner of the “Win with Force” Sweepstakes will be awarded a 2014 Ford Escape S-Series.
