COURTNEY FORCE READY TO RUMBLE AT THUNDER VALLEY

BRISTOL, TN – Courtney Force, driver of the Traxxas Ford Mustang Funny Car is anticipating an exciting weekend coming up, kicking off Father’s Day with the 13th annual Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers at Bristol Dragway. The tenth race on the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series has the 2012 Automobile Club Road to the Future Award winner ready to get back on track.

“We had a weekend off in between races, but I’m ready to get back in the seat of my Traxxas Ford Mustang Funny Car this weekend in Bristol,” said Force, currently sitting No. 7 in the NHRA Mello Yello point standings.

“Our team is excited to get back on the road and start this three-race streak which will help us get a good rhythm down for the next month,” said Force.

Last year, she qualified in the No. 13 spot and suffered a first round loss on Sunday to driver Ron Capps.

“I’m looking forward to the Bristol race in hopes of leaving here on a better note than last season at this track. We’ve got a good race car and just need to get as many points as possible throughout qualifying and race day to climb our way back to the top.”

“I’m also very excited that I’ll be out there this weekend racing with my dad over Father’s Day weekend, although, he should know if we have a head to head match up, there’s no way I’m letting him get that win!”

This weekend will mark the first of four races in a row for the second year driver who has a win at the season opening Winternationals. Since that first race Force has had a strong race car but not the best racing luck. Tough match-ups and shortened qualifying sessions have stalled some early season momentum.

Coming into Bristol the Ford Driving Skills for Life spokesperson is ready to focus on the track, her team and winning rounds. She is already ahead of her rookie pace at this point of the season. So far this season she has nine round wins and two final round appearances. Last year she had just seven round wins and two semi-final appearances. It was Bristol where she got some momentum going even though she lost in the first round. After Bristol Force raced to three finals at the next five races including her first win at Seattle in July.

“We are heading into a stretch of races where I had some success last year. I feel much more comfortable going back to a lot of these tracks where we had success last year,” said an enthused Force.
