COURTNEY FORCE READY TO RETURN TO SONOMA

SONOMA, CA – Sophomore sensation, Courtney Force, has a long couple of week ahead of her, competing to get every point possible to move up the Funny Car ladder and stay in the top 10. Force will take a shot this week at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals and try to improve on her current No. 7 standing.

Force has racked up three wins and four finals in her short, two-year Funny Car career. So far in 2013, Force has an average qualifying position of No. 5, and has qualified in the top half of the field eight times.

Last year at Sonoma Raceway, Force qualified in the top half of the field, but fell victim in an upset against Matt Hagan in the opening round of eliminations on Sunday.

“I’m excited going into Sonoma. It’s one of my favorite race tracks to run on. I’ve raced here in super comp and A-fuel dragster. Last year, we qualified in the No. 5 spot. We had a great car, we just had a tough upset first round against Hagan and got that win take from us. We’re hoping to come back here and repeat how we ran and just hopefully go more rounds,” said Force.

The 25-year old and her 27-year-old sister, Brittany Force, will have plenty of chances to tell their story this week. The pair will star in the NHRA Sonoma press conference on Wednesday in advance of the race, with a visit to Comcast Sports Net to follow.

“This is my first sit-down press conference with my sister, Brittany. It’ so exciting having her out here running in the professional ranks with me and running a Top Fuel car. It’s really special that we both get to do a press conference together, especially at the Sonoma race track. It’s one of those that are very close to our hearts. We grew up coming out to this track. We looked forward to it every summer as kids. We watched our dad race here, so hopefully we can make him proud and both do well in Sonoma,” said Force.

Both Force daughters will also be taking part in the all-female track walk on Sunday at 9:30 am. They will meet on stage and participate in a Q&A before walking down the drag strip surrounded by their fans.

“I’m looking forward to the first all-female track walk that I’ve done. It’s going to be exciting to take part in that with my sister Brittany and our good friend Alexis DeJoria. I’m definitely looking forward to it and being that close with the fans. It’s always cool to get the chance to do that on the track you’re getting ready to compete on. I’m excited,” said Force.
