Mick Snyder On Racing Top Sportsman At WSOPM: ‘It’s All The Stuff You Look Forward to At A Race’

MORRISON, CO – Mick Snyder has fond memories of racing at Bandimere Speedway, even if the lone trip to Thunder Mountain came two decades ago.

Snyder, J.R. Todd, the reigning NHRA Funny Car world champ, and Aaron Glaser all went on a road-trip together with Snyder’s family to the Jr. Dragster championships in the late 1990s. They all pitted together at the end of the track, providing a last memory at Bandimere Speedway.

Bringing his wife and children with him this time, Snyder is after a new memory as he races in Top Sportsman as part of next week’s Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefiting One Cure in Denver.

The $10,000 prize for the winners of the MagnaFuel ProStar 16 and QuickStar 16 Shootouts presented by Menholt Auto Group in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman is a definite draw, but there was much more to Snyder’s decision to make the 11-hour trek to race his blown ’68 Camaro.

feelings about racing at Thunder Mountain haven’t changed, he needed a great reason to make the 1,600-mile trip from Kernersville, N.C. to Denver to return.

A $100,000 payday at the third annual Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefiting One Cure classifies as a great reason.

Winters will make his debut at the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe, bringing a blown Bandit Big Rig Series ’69 Chevelle running as well as it ever has.

“I wouldn’t be going if I didn’t think I had a chance to win,” Winters said. “The placed is carved out of the mountain and I loved it. I always marked it on the calendar and I looked forward to going there, and I can’t wait to get back.”

West Coast Pro Mod Standout Ed Thornton on WSOPM Debut: ‘Not Going There to Prove Anything, I’m Going There to Win’

MORRISON, CO – It should come as no surprise that Ed Thornton is in the midst of another impressive Pro Mod season on the West Coast.

But rather than chase a championship, the standout veteran is instead choosing the chance to race for $100,000.

Thornton and the turbocharged D Bar D Camaro owned by Derrol Hubbard will head to Bandimere Speedway for the first time, as Thornton makes his World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure debut at the third annual event, which takes place Aug. 9-10 on Thunder Mountain.

Thornton has been his typical remarkable self in the Camaro in 2019, winning the first two races of the Xtreme Pro Mods West season. But with the fourth race falling on the same weekend as the WSOPM, Thornton had a choice to make.

Allure of $100,000 Payday Draws Scott Oksas Back to World Series of Pro Mod

MORRISON, CO – Scott Oksas got his first taste of the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a year ago.

It’s not hard to figure out what is making him return to Bandimere Speedway on Aug. 9-10 for the third annual World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure.

“The $100,000 brings me back, buddy,” Oksas said. “Do you want to race for $10,000 or $100,000? The $100,000 brings you back.”

With that in mind, Oksas hopes to be the third straight dark horse candidate to win “the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe,” following in the footsteps of inaugural winner Mike Bowman and last season’s champ, Carl Stevens Jr.

While both talented drivers, not many had them tabbed as the favorites in either season. But through a series of consistent and impressive performances, both ended the weekend $100,000 richer.

Michael Biehle on World Series of Pro Mod: ‘This Race Is by Far My Favorite One’

MORRISON, CO – If Michael Biehle could race this type of event 12 times a year, he would.  As it is, the Pro Mod standout will gladly take one DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a year.

Biehle will return to Thunder Mountain for the third year, as excited as ever to compete at Bandimere Speedway on Aug. 9-10 for the third annual World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure. The lure of $100,000 is a certain draw, but it may not actually be the top one.

“I look forward to all the races, but this race is by far my favorite one,” Biehle said. “It’s a great atmosphere, a great place, great competition and it’s run really well. You go there and have a good time, yet it’s serious competition. You feel like you’re the kings when you show up.”

Biehle has felt like royalty the past two years and almost got the ultimate crown last August when he advanced to the semifinals.

Sidnei Frigo’s Mindset for WSOPM: Win the Race, Get $100,000, Buy a New Peterbilt

MORRISON, CO – Car chief Chris Johnson has been asking Sidnei Frigo about a new Peterbilt truck for Frigo’s standout Pro Mod operation.

With the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod looming next month at Bandimere Speedway, Frigo and his team now have their incentive. A victory at the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe nets the winner $100,000.

Simply put, win the race, get a Peterbilt.

“He wants a Peterbilt. I tell him, ‘If we win the race, I buy the Peterbilt for you,’” Frigo said. “So we’re going there to win.”

Frigo will be a first-time attendee at the World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure, which takes place Aug. 9-10 on Thunder Mountain in Denver, but his track record makes him an immediate contender at the marquee race.

Clint Satterfield on World Series of Pro Mod: ‘It’s the Highlight of Our Year’

MORRISON, CO – Three years into things and Clint Satterfield’s feelings on the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod haven’t changed. If anything, he’s only enjoyed it more each year – if that’s possible.

“We can’t wait for this race,” Satterfield said. “That race makes our year.”

Those are Satterfield’s sentiments heading into the third annual World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure, which takes place Aug. 9-10 at Bandimere Speedway in Denver.

A year later, not much has changed. He’s still counting down the days to race on Thunder Mountain and it’s still a date he’s had circled on the calendar since the 2019 race announcement was made.

Jose Gonzalez Confirms Upcoming World Series of Pro Mod Debut

MORRISON, CO – A planned vacation kept Jose Gonzalez from attending the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a year ago.

Thanks to some careful planning in 2019, Gonzalez will get both a vacation and a chance to win $100,000 in his turbocharged Q80 Racing Camaro.

The Pro Mod standout has locked in his spot for the first time at the World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tire and benefiting One Cure, which takes place Aug. 9-10 at Bandimere Speedway, and Gonzalez is eager to compete against the best of the best in Pro Mod – so much so that his vacation got a new date this year.

“We’re very much looking forward to this,” Gonzalez said. “(Drag Illustrated Founder and Editorial Director) Wes (Buck) called me last year and I already had vacation time with the family, so I couldn’t change it. This year, he told me well beforehand so we were able to change everything so I could make it.”

World Series of Pro Mod Secures Date for 2019 Event at Bandimere Speedway

MORRISON, CO – The date is set for the 2019 Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by One Cure and J&A Service. Race officials announced today that the third annual World Series of Pro Mod will take place Aug. 9-10, 2019 at Bandimere Speedway.

Continuing to build on the momentum of the $100,000-to-win race, having a date secured for the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe was important for race founder Wes Buck.

“We are extremely excited to announce that the date for the 2019 World Series of Pro Mod has already been set and we will be returning to Bandimere Speedway,” Buck said. “It was important to make an announcement immediately to show just how fired up we are, not only about how this year turned out but what we are expecting in 2019 and beyond. We were just so happy about this year and we wanted to lock in the date for next season.”

A successful debut race took place in 2017 and it continued to grow to a wildly popular level in 2018, as Carl Stevens Jr. claimed the six-figure payday with a thrilling final-round victory over Danny Rowe on Thunder Mountain. In the days following the highly successful race that saw fans traveling from all over the world to take in the must-see action, Buck and race officials worked with Bandimere Speedway general manager John “Sporty” Bandimere III to quickly get the date locked in for 2019.
