WORSHAM CONTINUES TO BUILD AND IMPROVE

PHOENIX, AZ – Previously, two-time NHRA world champion Del Worsham has made three appearances in the final round at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, and this weekend he is going for a fourth. Worsham and his Lucas Oil Toyota Camry Funny Car will return to the desert this weekend with even bigger goals than he had at the season opening race in Pomona. Starting on Friday at the 33rd annual NHRA Arizona Nationals, Worsham and his team will focus on qualifying and continuing to improve for the rest of the season.

“My goal for this race is definitely just to pick up where we left off and try to improve. Improve our qualifying position, and try to go further than we did in Pomona. I would love to try and get into a final round,” said Worsham, who sits sixth in the Mello Yello point standings.

WORSHAM KICKS OFF SEASON

POMONA, CA – Del Worsham had a strong start with his Lucas Oil Toyota Camry Funny Car at the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season-opening Circle K NHRA Winternationals on Sunday at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

The 2015 NHRA Funny Car champion qualified 12th in his first race back on his family owned team, Worsham Racing.

“We qualified well. Not a career best time, but for that team and for my dad’s car that was the best time we ever ran. I thought with the weather conditions and the position we were in, we did a great job qualifying to get ourselves in the show and run as good as we did,” said Worsham.

In the first round Worsham defeated Robert Hight with a pass of 4.008 seconds at 313.15 mph.

POMONA, CA – The 2015 NHRA Funny Car champion is ready to get the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season started with the 57th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Del Worsham, two-time NHRA champion, will be racing with Lucas Oil as his primary sponsor for the first six races of the season in his Toyota Camry Funny Car. This weekend Worsham is only looking for a strong start.

Last season Del picked up one win and finished seventh in points, but this season he’s looking to come out on top again, this time with his father, veteran team owner and crew chief Chuck Worsham. At the end of the last season, Worsham left Kalitta Motorsports to rejoin his family-owned team, Worsham Racing.
