Courtesy of VP

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Officials at Orlando Speed World Dragway and Stingray Dragway at Lakeland (formerly known as Lakeland Dragstrip) each announced multi-year agreements naming VP Racing Fuels as their Official Fuel beginning in 2012. Under the agreements, VP will be each track’s exclusive supplier of race fuels with VP110 and C12 available on site in bulk along with several of VP’s specialty fuels in pails and drums at both facilities.

In addition, each track will continue to use VP’s LC7 traction compound for track prep. Both tracks will be serviced by VP-Southeast, VP’s distribution center in Fort Lauderdale. “Orlando Speed World Dragway and Stingray Dragway at Lakeland are both great motorsport facilities,” said Robert Rodgers VP’s Regional Manager-South, “and we are very happy to be selected over all others to fuel their tracks this year.”

The feeling is mutual for Ozzy Moya, the owner of Stingray Dragway at Lakeland. “We’re pleased to bring VP on board as our Official Fuel given its well-deserved reputation for quality products and unsurpassed service,” Moya said. “Their race fuel blends are second to none and we’re confident our racers will appreciate having convenient access to them here at the track.”

NHRA ADDS VP’S C9TM TO APPROVED FUEL LIST

Courtesy of VP Fuels

SAN ANTONIO, TX – VP Racing Fuels today announced the addition of its new C9TM unleaded formula to the NHRA’s Approved Fuel List. “C9 is an impressive new fuel that will outperform the standard 110 fuels available in the field, including our own,” said Jim Kelly, VP’s Director of Race Fuel Sales.

“It’s a non-oxygenated formula that in dyno tests made 4-6 more HP and torque than the 110 baseline. With an octane rating of 96 (R+M/2), C9 is ideal for Stock and Super Stock applications with compression ratios up to 11:1.”

Track tests in the Northeast on the quarter mile and on oval tracks showed C9 will have an immediate impact on performance regardless of the type of racing. Notably, it was recently selected as the Spec Fuel of the ACT American Canadian Tour and Castrol Series in Canada.

In addition to the performance gains seen on the ACT tour and in stock and super stock drag cars, ethanol-free C9 is an ideal fuel for improving performance in crate engines as well as competition quads, motocross bikes and sleds. Because C9 is ethanol-free, it can be of particular benefit in marine racing applications.

Braselton, GA – With a new 3-year agreement beginning in 2012, VP Racing Fuels has increased its level of partnership with the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón and the International Motor Sports Association. As such, VP will continue supplying VP100, its ethanol-enriched E10 unleaded fuel, and cellulosic E85 fuels for the ALMS. VP INTRODUCES “C85” ETHANOL RACING FUEL

Courtesy of VP Fuels

SAN ANTONIO, TX  – VP Racing Fuels today introduced “C85” racing fuel, offering significant performance gains over conventional E85 according to Jim Kelly, VP’s Director of Racing Fuel Sales.

“Conventional E85 gained some popularity because it was cheap and made some power, but it has a significant downside,” said Kelly. “In addition to requiring a costly E85 carburetor and completely revamped and upgraded fuel system, E85 is corrosive and very inconsistent.”

“When you don’t know if you’re getting 60% ethanol, 80% ethanol or something else, it’s extremely difficult to tune,” Kelly continued. “Many engine builders have cited up to a two-jet swing in their tune from one batch of E85 to the next.

By contrast, C85 is blended with the same degree of care and precision as every other VP fuel, with a consistent proportion of ethanol and every other component in every drum. It takes all the guesswork out of tuning.”

As part of the sponsorship, VP will continue to post contingency awards for all classes, with VP’s C23 and Q16 designated as Spec Fuels for the Extreme Pro Stock class.

VP RACING REFORMULATES THREE NHRA FUELS

Courtesy of VP Fuels

SAN ANTONIO, TX -VP Racing Fuels today announced it has reformulated three of its NHRA-approved fuels—C11, C23 and C25. Effective January 20, the new 2012 formulas will be available from VP for dyno and track testing in 5-gallon pails as well as 15-gallon and 54-gallon drums. The new 2012 blends also will be available for purchase at the NHRA Winternationals at Pomona, but may not be used in competition at this event. Beginning March 7th, 2012 the new 2012 formulas will be permitted for use in competition.  Use of the pre-2012 formulas will be permitted in competition until December 31, 2012.

The 2012 formulas will have a slightly higher octane and a slightly higher specific gravity, while the vaporization and energy content of the fuels have not changed. “We do not anticipate any tuning changes will be necessary,” said Steve Burns, VP’s Director of Research & Development. “Performance could possibly improve because of the higher octane and racers can expect more detonation protection. Pro Stock engines in particular have evolved since we first designed C25 and increased demands on the fuel. With C25 being a spec fuel, this reformulation will not change the balance of power in Pro Stock, but should help with engine life.”

VP GEARS UP FOR 2012 SEASON

Courtesy of VP

SAN ANTONIO, TX – VP Racing Fuels will start its 37th race season with a full arsenal of its popular leaded and unleaded race fuels. Fuels for drag racing, stock car racing, dirt track racing, powersports and open wheel competition have positioned VP as the leader in race fuel development as well as the most diversified race fuel brand in motorsports.

“We’ve developed many new fuel products, all of which will debut over the coming weeks,” said Jim Kelly, VP’s Director of Race Fuel Sales. “I’m confident racers and engine builders alike will be very pleased with our newborns, which include a DBI break-in fuel, an ethanol-free Pre-Mix for two strokes, another impressive FIA rally fuel blend, a new FIM motorcycle blend, and a new product that will more than satisfy racers asking us for an E-85 type fuel. Many hours of R&D across the U.S. have produced what we believe will set us apart – again – from the other race fuel companies we compete against.”

“After we announced the launch of VP-branded gas stations across the country a few months back, a few people expressed concern that VP was following other companies that focused on retail to general consumers and we might lose interest in what we’re known for,” Kelly continued. “But that’s not the case at all. Rest assured, at VP it’s still all about MAKIN’ POWER!”

VP INTRODUCES UNLEADED, NON-OXYGENATED “C9”

Courtesy of VP

SAN ANTONIO, TX – VP Racing Fuels today announced the introduction of “C9” racing fuel to complement its longstanding C10 blend. “Like our very popular C10, new C9 is an ethanol-free, non-oxygenated unleaded product,” said Jim Kelly, VP’s Corporate Director-Sales.

“C9 prevents all the problems associated with ethanol in pump gas, thus making it a great fuel for seasonal storage,” Kelly continued. “Unlike pump gas which leaves deposits, clogs injectors, attracts moisture and separates while in storage, C9 won’t go bad. You won’t have to drain fuel from your carburetor even if your engine sits idle for weeks or months, and C9 will remain stable at least two years in a sealed container. Make C9 the last thing you run through the carburetor and fuel tank before putting your boat or favorite ride away this winter and you’ll see instant results when it’s time to get things started in the spring.”

“With an octane rating of 96 (R+M/2), C9 provides an economical alternative to C10 that still offers more resistance to detonation and improved performance over premium pump gas,” Kelly added. “C9 won’t harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors and will provide great starts in heat or cold.”

In addition to automotive applications, C9 will perform well in motorcycles, quads, snowmobiles and more. C9 racing fuel is for use in racing vehicles only and may not be used in street-driven motor vehicles.
