U.S. Army NHRA Racing 49th Annual Auto Club NHRA Finals Friday Qualifying Report

Pomona, CA – Halfway through qualifying for this weekend’s 49th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Schumacher - Denver - Competition Plus Calif., the U.S. Army driving duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown showed Friday that only the strongest wear the colors of the U.S. Army Soldiers they represent, who possess a mental, emotional and physical strength like no other, and that the U.S. Army Racing team reflects those strengths.

Both Schumacher, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion, and Brown, the defending series champ, picked up on their opening-round qualifying runs from Thursday.

Schumacher and the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) got down the 1,000-foot straightaway in 3.819 seconds at 322.58 mph, which moved him up to 13th in the provisional qualifying order.

Pomona, CA – Opening day of qualifying for this weekend’s season-ending 49th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway in US Army - Comp Plus - Richard MuirPomona, Calif., closed with the U.S. Army driving duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown displaying the level of engineering and teamwork that is reflective of the Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers.

Schumacher, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion, six-time Pomona event titlist and runner-up at the 2013 season opener here in February, hazed the tires in the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) midway down the 1,000 straightaway and finished the day 15th in the provisional qualifying order. He crossed the finish line in 4.999 seconds at 140.90 mph.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing 13th Annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals Friday Qualifying Report

Las Vegas, NV – Tony Schumacher and the U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) performed with precision in US Army - Comp Plus - Richard Muirfirst- and second-round qualifying for this weekend’s 13th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, proudly and emphatically displaying the level of engineering and teamwork that is reflective of the Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers.

With his eighth career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world championship on the line at this weekend’s penultimate event of the season, Schumacher and the U.S. Army team enjoyed their best Friday qualifying results since early this season. His second-round qualifying run of 3.784 seconds at 324.59 mph was the second-best Top Fuel run of the day, eclipsed only by current points leader Shawn Langdon of Al-Anabi Racing, who clocked a run of 3.778 seconds at 324.28 mph alongside Schumacher during the final side-by-side run of the evening.

US Army Team Hoping for a Little Déjà Vu After Maple Grove

Reading, PA – Is this déjà vu all over again for Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and the U.S. Army Dragster team for Don Schumacher US Army - Comp Plus - Richard MuirRacing (DSR)? Looking ahead, not back, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion certainly hopes so.

After today’s second-round elimination in the 29th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa., Schumacher finds himself in the same relative position to the one he was in last year, when his hopes for an eighth career Top Fuel title came all the way down to the final run of the final event of the season.

Reading, PA – Friday qualifying for this weekend’s 29th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa., Schumacher - Denver - Competition Plus was a classic display of the level of engineering and teamwork that is reflective of the U.S. Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers.

The U.S. Army duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown both laid down solid runs in first- and second-round sessions this afternoon and finished the day third and fifth, respectively, in the provisional qualifying order.

Schumacher, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion and driver of the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), stopped the clock at 3.778 seconds at 323.97 mph during today’s second round. It was the fastest run of the day until the final pairing of Morgan Lucas and Shawn Langdon bumped Schumacher down to No. 3 in the provisional order by four-thousandths and two-thousandths of a second, respectively.

READING, PA – It’s a pivotal weekend for the U.S. Army NHRA Top Fuel driver duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron US Army RacingBrown as they head to Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa., for the fourth of six events of the 2013 Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship – the 29th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals.

Schumacher, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion and driver of the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), finds himself in fifth place, 72 points back of championship leader Shawn Langdon while defending Top Fuel champion Brown, driver of the Matco Tools/U.S. Army Dragster for DSR, is in sixth place, 102 points back of Langdon after his breakthrough win Sunday at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis.

With just three events left on the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series calendar, it’s “Go Time” for the U.S. Army duo, which so proudly represents the Army that is the strength of our Nation, and the more than 1 million Army Strong Soldiers who are the strength of our Army. Once again this weekend, Schumacher and Brown will showcase the Army-NHRA partnership that for more than a decade has provided Americans a platform to experience the power, speed, teamwork and technology that drives that strength.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing Final Qualifying Report from Gateway

Madison, IL – The U.S. Army Racing tandem of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown continued building momentum Tony Schmacher-Comp Plus-Roger RichradsSaturday in the second annual AAA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. Both drivers entered the third event of NHRA’s six-race Countdown to the Championship playoff feeling that their only hope for a legitimate shot at the championship hinged on succeeding in St. Louis.

The foundation for that success was put in place Friday when both drivers and their respective Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) teams displayed a level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the U.S. Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers by making solid passes during the first two qualifying sessions and ranking second (Schumacher) and sixth (Brown). The consistency continued Saturday as both drivers held their positions in the ladder and closed qualifying with effective runs.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing Second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals Friday Qualifying Report

Madison, IL – The U.S. Army Racing tandem of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown were in need of solid results entering Schumacher - Denver - Competition Plus this weekend’s second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., the third event of NHRA’s six-race Countdown to the Championship playoff.

That mission was accomplished Friday with both Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) teams displaying a level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the U.S. Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers. Both made a pair of solid qualifying passes and rank second and sixth respectively halfway through qualifying.  Consistency was a common description as Schumacher posted the third-best run in the opening session and narrowly missed the provisional top qualifier position Friday evening. Brown ranked sixth in both sessions despite losing a cylinder late in his second qualifying run.
