SPARTA, ON – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series brings highly competitive sportsman drag racing back to St Thomas Raceway Park this weekend August 4-5 for events eight and nine on the 2012 schedule.

Kevin Orr Mechanical presents the weekend which will be run in 1/8th mile format and marks the return of the TNTSS to the southwestern Ontario facility.  Making this year even more exciting is that the TNTSS has not paid less than $700 to win all year.

Last year’s event winners, Andrew Stirk and Marc Vezina will be defending their titles while the championship points chase continues to heat up.  Chris VanBaalen leads Jon Jablonski by a mere 17 points.  Tom Coonly sits in third followed closely by Larry Pulver while David Surmatchewski rounds out the top five.  The tightest battle is from 4th to 8th with only 28 points separating those five drivers.

Kevin Orr scores career-best finish at Grand Bend MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals

Courtesy of TNT

GRAND BEND, ON   Kevin Orr has been drag racing for almost three decades and has never been to a final round at a national event…until now.

Kevin and his wife Laurie finished in the runner-up spot in Hot Rod at the 2012 IHRA MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals at Grand Bend Motorplex.  Falling to eventual triple class winner Jacob Elrod, Kevin put some very impressive numbers on the board.

His average reaction time in eliminations was .017 and he ran on the good side of the 10.90 index in every round, with the exception of the final.

After defeating Rudy Matthews in round one by a tight .004 margin of victory, Kevin drilled the tree in round two with a stout .006 which wasn’t good for Ron Cannatti.  In round three, he repeated his near perfect light with another .006 against Drew Buchner who put up a good fight running a 10.907 to Kevin’s 10.919.

GRAND BEND, ON – Twenty-nine of the best sportsman racers in the northeast assembled on Friday at the Grand Bend Motorplex for a unique Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series event.

When the dust settled, it was Jamie Tupper from Tillsonburg, Ontario taking the victory and earning a spot in the Performance Improvements Race of Champions.

TNT Super Series competes Friday at Mopar IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals in Grand Bend

GRAND BEND, ON –  For the second consecutive year, the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series will compete during the Mopar IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals this weekend.  Grand Bend Motorplex will host a complete TNTSS 10.90 drag race on Friday July 20th presented by Rosehill Auction House.

Paying $1000 to win, this is race #7 on the 2012 TNTSS schedule and counts towards the series points championship.  It will offer all of the features the TNTSS is known for – including round money, specialty awards and contingency postings – PLUS a chance to get into the Performance Improvements Race of Champions in September.

Last year’s event was a huge success with 35 cars in TNTSS competition.  “We had pretty much every Hot Rod and Super Rod car that was on the property Friday afternoon run our race,” said Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director.  “We’re looking to hit 40 this year!”  And since the TNTSS has no minimum weight and allows left-hand steer roadsters, they have a good chance to do just that.

LANCASTER, NY – “I wanted to get an entry into that September race and now I got one!” said Wellandport Ontario’s Chris Van Baalen after winning his first event in the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.  Dunn Tire Raceway Park hosted the popular sportsman drag racing series last Friday with 31 cars coming through the gates.

Scott Jahren Paint presented the mid-season event at a track where winning doesn’t come easy and in a season where the average TNTSS car count is exceeding 28 cars.

In the first qualifying session, Chris sat atop the field with a 7.018 but was pushed back to sixth in the second session – even though he ran a better 7.011.

Round one had him up against recent Skyview Pro Am winner Jerry Stoutenberg where he took a .007 margin of victory running 7.004 to Jerry’s 7.005.  Then he missed the tree in round two but the car saved him from Jeff Kerl by running dead on 7.007 and a close .011 MOV.

TIOGA CENTER, NY – Producing top talent in the sportsman drag racing ranks is a key focus for the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.  That has never been more obvious than this past weekend during the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am presented by Amsoil at Skyview Drags in Tioga Center, NY.

Three regular competitors in the TNTSS went to the IHRA winner’s circle – Saturday it was Tom Coonly (Blasdell, NY) winning Hot Rod and Jon Jablonski (West Seneca, NY) taking Super Rod and then Sunday, Jerry Stoutenberg (Rush, NY) took Hot Rod.

In Saturday’s race, Tom drove his 1975 Nova through the Hot Rod field, taking out Kathy Kiekel, Dean Olschewske and Mark Proulx on his way to the semi’s where he met up with fellow TNTSS competitor Jeff Fisher.  Tom got Jeff on both ends of the racetrack and moved into the final against yet another TNTSS regular, Jan Winkowski.

CAYUGA, ON – The first stop on the Canadian side of the 2012 schedule saw 27 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series competitors at Cayuga Dragway this past weekend.

Presented by Bieda’s Powersports, we could have used some watercraft to get around the pits as Mother Nature completely rained out Saturday’s on-track festivities.  So the TNTSS ran two races on Sunday with Jon Jablonski from West Seneca, NY and Andrew Stirk from Brampton, Ontario coming out on top.

Sunday June 10 – Race #4

Qualifying in the fourth position, J.J. sat near the top of the chart heading into eliminations, which gave him lane choice over most of the field.
