TNT Super Series Announces Innovative New Award

CANFIELD, ON –  The popular Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series has created a unique yearend award that will showcase a sportsman Driver of the Yeardrag racer’s performance statistics.  The Performance Improvements DRIVER OF THE YEAR Award, lubricated by Royal Purple, will go to the TNTSS competitor with the best overall average package in the 2013 season.

The winner will receive a 2014 product sponsorship from Royal Purple valued at $2500 and along with $250 in Royal Purple merchandise.

“We wanted to create something that would reward the racer who has the best performance over the entire season,” said Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director of Operations.  “It had to be something that would really showcase the talent that exists within the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.  And with partners like Performance Improvements and Royal Purple, we’re going to do just that!”

TNT Super Series Adds Two More Dates and Finalizes 2013 Schedule

CANFIELD, ON – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series has finalized its schedule with two new dates added, making for a thirteen Elekesrace season in 2013.

Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY will see the 10.90 sportsman series return on Saturday May 25th and Saturday August 24th. Both of these dates are on the same weekend as a Friday night TNTSS race at Lancaster, creating two more double race weekends for TNTSS competitors.

With the recently announced changes in the event payouts, the 2013 season looks to be the most exciting yet for 10.90 racers in the northeast.

TNT Super Series Enhances Payouts for 2013

CANFIELD, ON – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series continues to be a leader in the world of sportsman drag racing. The series Sam LoVetro Jrbased solely on 10.90 racing will pay back more to the racers in 2013 than it has in any previous season.

The TNTSS will hand out more than $9000 in cash and prizes, not including event payouts and contingency postings, making the TNTSS one of the most lucrative sportsman series in the country. More importantly, changes to the event payout structure should attract even higher car counts.

According to Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director of Operations, more events will pay $1000/win. “Even TNTSS events with light car counts should fall into the $700/win category.”

TNT Super Series Releases 2013 Schedule

CANFIELD, ON – After much anticipation, the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series has released its 2013 schedule. This will be the TNT Super Seriesseventh season for the 10.90 sportsman drag racing series, with events in both Canada and the US.

There are eleven races confirmed with two more in the works according to TNTSS Director of Operations, Ted Barnes. One significant change this year is that the Dilts Piston Hydraulics Race of Champions (ROC) will be held in early August at St Thomas Raceway Park and it will be contested on the eighth mile for the first time.

As well, the TNTSS has added an additional race at Dunn Tire Raceway Park (DTRP) for a total of five events at the Lancaster NY facility, up from four last year.

Dilts Piston Hydraulics to Present the 2013 TNT Super Series Race of Champions

ST CATHARINES, ON- The 2013 season will be the SEVENTH for the popular Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series, a 10.90 based Dilts Piston Hydraulicssportsman drag racing series that holds events in both western New York and southern Ontario.

Series officials are excited to announce the return of the prestigious Race of Champions with Dilts Piston Hydraulics presenting the 3rd annual event.

With no entry fee and the highest winner’s purse of any TNTSS event, the Dilts Piston Hydraulics Race of Champions will draw the cream of the crop in sportsman racers. Only previous TNTSS event winners are eligible to enter and qualifying is set based on past performance.

2012 TNT Super Series Rookie of the Year – Jim Thomson

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – The popular Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series is known for producing many talented sportsman drag racers. To see it, you don’t need to look any further than Niagara Falls, Ontario’s Jim Thomson – the winner of the 2012 Tim Thorne Rookie of the Year Award, presented by Sam LoVetro Automotive.

Jim won the sought-after award by earning the most points of all drivers new to the TNTSS in 2012.

The highlight for Jim’s season is the double race weekend at St Thomas Raceway Park in August where he was in the final both days and took the win on Sunday.

Those results plus a semi-final finish at Dunn Tire Raceway Park earned Jim 627 points in the championship chase – enough to get him into the top ten. Impressive results for his first full season in TNTSS 10.90 competition.

2012 TNT Super Series Champion – JJ Jablonski

WEST SENECA, NY –  JJ Jablonski has won a lot of drag races in the western New York area over the last 18 years.  Winning events at both the local and divisional levels, he’s a two-time IHRA Divisional Champion – once in Hot Rod and once in Super Rod.

This year, he bested 64 of the best sportsman drag racers in the country and earned the title of 2012 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series Champion.

For the West Seneca NY racer, 2012 was a season filled with many ups and downs.  His season started off slow but then turned a corner in June at the Cayuga double header where he scored both a win and a runner-up.

Then on Labour Day weekend, JJ cemented his points lead with another win at Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.

Countdown to a Championship – Tom Coonly – 2012 TNT Super Series Second Place

BLASDELL, NY – Tom Coonly from Blasdell, New York says that 2012 is the best year he’s had yet as a sportsman drag racer. Only five years into it, Tom has had more success than many see in an entire career.

In 2012, not only did Tom finish in second place in the highly competitive Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series after earning a strong 704 points, he also went to his second IHRA Tournament of Champions after finishing third in the IHRA Division One standings.

In TNTSS competition Tom qualified well all year, earning bonus points at all but two events including two number one qualifying spots. In eliminations, his season started off strong with an event win at just the second race. He then proceeded to go rounds at most events throughout the season plus he saw a second final in August, scoring a runner-up at St Thomas Raceway Park.

Countdown to a Championship – Chris and Peter VanBaalen – 2012 TNT Super Series Third Place

WELLANDPORT, ON – Peter VanBaalen has been around drag strips in southern Ontario for over 20 years. When his son Chris was old enough to drive, he was quickly behind the wheel at the track.

Now years later, Chris is piloting what was his father’s Monte Carlo in TNTSS competition.

Entering 2012, the father and son team had one goal in mind and that was to get a win in the toughest sportsman drag racing series on the planet, the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.

Turns out, they did more than that. They got the event win at Dunn Tire Raceway Park and a runner up at Cayuga Dragway, both in June. They also accumulated 701 points over 13 races earning them a third place finish in TNTSS championship points chase.

Countdown to a Championship – Harry Phelps – 2012 TNT Super Series Fourth Place

NEWARK, NY – When he won the 2011 Rookie of the Year award, Harry Phelps from Newark, New York had one goal in mind – to get a Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series event win on his racing resume.  This year in 2012, he met that goal and accumulated 695 points to place fourth in the TNTSS championship points standings, for the second consecutive year.

Harry’s season started off strong with a runner-up finish at the first race.  Add to that many late round appearances including two semi-finals and that highly sought after event win at St Thomas Raceway Park in August and it’s no surprise to see Harry in the top five.

“We started this season on a good note at the first race with a runner-up to Mark Herbold and a couple of races later, a semi-final at Empire had me in the top five,” commented Harry.
