Claremont, IN – This year’s rain delayed U.S. Nationals might have been a puddle-ridden hassle for some, but for Dyno Dave Heitzman it was his chance to shine. Qualifying in the number two position and advancing to the semifinals made a dreary two week affair much brighter. Dyno Dave also showed the Top Alcohol Dragster class how it’s done by recording low elapsed time for the event and capturing top mile per hour honors.

“To be knocked out by the world champ in the semifinals is nothing to be ashamed of,” said Dyno Dave. “It really pumped up the team to qualify so well, and the support from our fan base was amazing. You can’t be disappointed by running the quickest and fastest times at the biggest race of the year.”

Going into Saturday’s qualifying session the Shane Co. Dragster sat in the number eight position from the previous rounds of qualifying. In the one and only qualifying round Dyno Dave launched the Shane Co. dragster to a 5.360/268.17 blast that catapulted him to the number two slot.

Demke and Maddern Racing are ready for Woodburn

Woodburn, OR – This weekend the Maddern Racing team are taking the Jegs AllStars Team Trophy on a little trip to Woodburn Dragstrip. The team has spent the last week sharing the trophy with various vendors, sponsors, and landmarks in Southern California. Now it’s time to take it racing. It’s put up or shut up time.

“It’s great to be back racing on the West Coast,” said Demke. “Joey Severance, who also races in Top Alcohol Dragster, runs the show up there. When I submitted my application for the race, I received a little note back from Joey saying they already had five cars and the class was full. Needless to say, I got the joke. This weekend is serious, we are going for points.  No joking or goofing around. OK, maybe just a little.”

Since the race in Joliet, the Peen Rite /OSI / 801 Racing Team has been freshening up the motors, doing a little shopping, and preparing to do more than just go rounds. The mission is to win and gain those valuable points. To do that, they will rely upon the data they have gathered, along with the knowledge base of crew chief Jerry Maddern, tuner/clutchman Adam Rhoades, Kevin Watson, Michael Demke, and Ronald Mann. This group has been to war together. They are battle tested, still hungry, and solid as a rock.

Day Shows Respect for the Mountain

Morrison, CO – Tuning a race car to just get down the track at Bandimere Speedway is not easy. The high altitude and warm conditions makes it difficult for everyone. CleanBoost driver James Day had to give the mountain the respect it deserves.

“Things don’t always go as planned, it was obviously a rough outing,” said Day. “We had some issues and decided not to blow it up”

On Friday, the John Lindsay Racing Teams’ plan was to use the sessions for information gathering for their new engine and clutch combination.  Both runs were aborted due to safety concerns. On Saturday, during the third qualifying round, the Funny Car was off to a great start. Around 300 feet, James felt the tires spinning and aborted the run. The time was quick enough to get them in the show in the sixteenth position. In the final qualifying session, the safety crew perceived a risk, and the car was pushed back. James could only watch from the staging lanes as Tony Pedregon bumped him out of the program.

James Day to Go Mountain Climbing in Denver

Morrison, CO – NHRA Funny Car pilot James Day has a mountain to climb in Denver this weekend.  Instead of rope and a backpack, Day is bringing his fire suit and helmet. The CleanBoost sponsored driver of the John Lindsey Fuel Coupe is looking to qualify well and make some noise.

“It’s great to back here at Bandimere Speedway,” said Day. “The fans here are great, and I am looking forward to stepping on the loud pedal and giving them a great show.”

Day knows how to put on a show. Earlier this year, he thrilled the local crowd in Dale Pulde’s War Eagle Nostalgia Funny Car. The Saturday Night booked-in match race gave the fans a look at the quickest nostalgia funny car on the mountain and a preview of James’ desire to win.

“Last year we qualified and ran Robert Height in round one. It was everything I’ve ever worked for,” said Day. “We are working to repeat that performance and go some rounds.”
