DAVE RICHARDS AND BLUEBIRD TURF / VERSATRAN READY FOR SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT NHRA NATIONALS

NORWALK, OH – SCAG Racing’s Dave Richards and his BlueBird Turf / Versatran Ford Mustang team are focused on building momentum as they enter this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

The BlueBird Turf team, currently 13th in the points standings, has made two semifinal appearances this season, first at the Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas and just a few weeks ago at the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee. Richards is coming off a No. 13 qualifying performance from the Virginia Nationals where he faced his teammate Daniel Wilkerson for a first-round loss.

“Our goal right now is getting more consistent and keeping that consistency as we get quicker and quicker. We have a good plan and we’re sticking to it, it takes time, repetition and learning from each pass and each event weekend,” Richards said. “Our team operation is getting better daily, everyone is working hard and they’re doing that because we all know it’s going to pay off. We’re making strides. This BlueBird Turf team has what it takes.” Continue reading

JUSTIN ASHLEY TAKES SCAG TOYOTA TO RUNNER-UP FINISH AT NHRA VIRGINIA NATIONALS

DINWIDDIE, VA – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team made their second consecutive final round appearance of the season Sunday at the American Rebel Light Beer NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. In Funny Car, Daniel Wilkerson in the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang team made a semifinal appearance and Dave Richards in the BlueBird Turf / Versatran hot rod had a quarterfinal exit.

Facing former world champion Shawn Langdon in the finals, the SCAG Toyota had several holes out and blew the blower off. Justin Ashley watched Langdon pull away to a 3.940 second pass at 319.67 mph while the injured SCAG Toyota dragster crossed the finish line in 4.167 at 227.92.

“We have a very hungry team right now. That’s our fifth final round in the first nine races and that’s something we should be very proud of,” said Ashley who was in both NHRA Four-Wide Nationals final quads and finished runner-up at the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago and at the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee. “This weekend these SCAG Racing guys were just outstanding. Tough conditions, quick turnarounds and they came through as they always do. We would’ve loved to win the race. We always expect to win the race, but the sport brings out the best in everybody. The good news is that we head over to Norwalk, Ohio in a few days. We’ll try to keep that momentum moving forward and go just one round further. Thanks to all of our amazing sponsors and of course the SCAG users, dealers, and owners all across the country.” Continue reading

DANIEL WILKERSON WINS #2FAST2TASTY CHALLENGE AT NHRA VIRGINIA NATIONALS

DINWIDDIE, VA – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang team picked up their first Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory of the season Saturday while qualifying for the American Rebel Light Beer NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park just outside of Richmond.

Racing three-time world champion Ron Capps in the finals, Wilkerson handled the SCAG Mustang to the quickest pass of the third qualifying session with a 4.038-second pass at 320.74 mph. Capps came up short with a clean pass at 4.063 and 315.12.

“I’m just so proud of this whole SCAG Ford team,” said Wilkerson who earns three bonus championship points as well as a cash prize. “I feel like I’ve hosed this a couple times, and my team has been working through it so well. I’m so blessed, I’m so lucky to get to work with SCAG Power Equipment, Summit, Ford. My family isn’t here; they were there in Bristol. I put them through a lot of crap doing this and I’m sad they aren’t here, but I guess it just means we have to win the thing again next week in Norwalk, Ohio.”

In the first round, Wilkerson, in a rematch of the semifinal from the Thunder Valley Nationals, took down Paul Lee. Wilkerson made his quickest pass of qualifying, 4.022 at 320.36, to defeat Lee who had to shut off early coasting to a 4.521 at 191.43. Continue reading

DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG FORD TEAM OPTIMISTIC HEADING TO NHRA VIRGINIA NATIONALS

DINWIDDIE, VA – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car team are ready to take advantage of recent momentum as they head to Virginia Motorsports Park for the American Rebel Light NHRA Virginia Nationals.

Coming off a semifinal finish at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Wilkerson and his team are dialed in for Virginia. Sitting seventh in points with one final round appearance at the Winternationals in April, Wilkerson is looking to better his No. 8 qualifying position and quarterfinal exit from last year’s Virginia Nationals.

“I have a really good feeling about Richmond. The heat will bring on our kind of track surface, and with some momentum we built at Bristol, I really like our chances of going some rounds and maybe getting that elusive first win,” Wilkerson said. “We were towing the race car back after that second round win at Bristol and I randomly got super excited and started yelling to the guys, ‘Guys we are in the #2Fast2Tasty race with [Dave] Richards!’ We got to race in that deal quite a few times last year, so hopefully we can bring home a few extra points this weekend too.” Continue reading

NORTH DINWIDDIE, VA – Richards and the SCAG Racing BlueBird Turf / Versatran Funny Car team have been anxiously awaiting this weekend’s American Rebel Light NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park.

Following a solid performance at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol where Richards made the second semifinal appearance of his career, Richards and his crew are focused on maintaining consistency and chasing round wins. The BlueBird Turf / Versatran Funny Car has shown steady progress this season, and Richards is eager to capitalize on the team’s momentum at Virginia Motorsports Park.

“I’m definitely ready to get back at it, get back in the BlueBird Turf car. So, needless to say, I’ve really been looking forward to Richmond,” Richards said. “I’m excited to see how we do after our performance in Bristol. We’re planning on doing more of the same, stay consistent and get some round wins. Three runs on Saturday in hopefully the same conditions as we’ll have on race day is exciting. JUSTIN ASHLEY AND SCAG TOYOTA CARRYING MOMENTUM INTO NHRA VIRGINIA NATIONALS

DINWIDDIE, VA – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team are geared up for the American Rebel Light NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park, the ninth race of the 20-event 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Coming off a runner-up finish at the Thunder Valley Nationals, Ashley and his SCAG Toyota team, led by crew chiefs Mike Green and Tommy DeLago, are currently sitting fourth in the points standings. With back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Charlotte Four-Wide event and Route 66 Nationals, the SCAG dragster has shown consistent strength leading into this weekend’s two-day event that will feature three qualifying runs on Saturday and race day Sunday.

“Virginia Motorsports Park is a fantastic facility, and we’re excited to race in front of such passionate fans,” said Ashley, the 2020 NHRA Rookie of the Year. “This race is going to be a unique challenge unlike anything we’ve seen so far this season. It’s a lot of racing in a short period of time and very high temperatures. The teams that usually win events like this are the ones that can go A to B more consistently than the others. That’ll certainly be our goal. But truthfully, it’s the perfect weekend to highlight the importance of having a good crew. They are so important to having success in this sport and this weekend should further highlight that point. I am so grateful to have ours and look forward to watching them go to work.” Continue reading

SCAG RACING MAKES POWERFUL STATEMENT AT THUNDER VALLEY NATIONALS

BRISTOL, TN – In its second season, SCAG Racing had their best on-track performance of the team’s history with Justin Ashley, driver of the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster finishing runner-up, while Daniel Wilkerson in the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car and Dave Richards in the BlueBird Turf / Versatran Funny Car both made semifinal appearances.

After a rain delay, Justin Ashley and the SCAG Toyota team faced four-time world champion Steve Torrence in the 28th Top Fuel final round of Ashley’s career. Ashley had the starting line advantage but both dragsters would have tire smoke going over the tricky race track. Ashley would pedal it, but it wasn’t enough for Torrence who was already ahead and got his dragster hooked up and across the finish in 4.022 seconds and 325.37 mph while Ashley coasted to an 8.600 pass at just 82.60.

“It was a great weekend for SCAG Racing. I’m very happy with the success we had as well as Daniel and Dave. Today was all about consistency,” said Ashley. “The track presented a few unique challenges that we were able to overcome until we got to the finals. We gave it everything we had and will continue to do the same moving forward. It was awesome watching Mike, Tommy, and our entire SCAG Power Equipment Toyota team navigate the track so well. We’re knocking at the door now we just have to knock it down.” Continue reading

DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG FORD POISED FOR BREAKTHROUGH AT NHRA THUNDER VALLEY NATIONALS

BRISTOL, TN – Daniel Wilkerson, driver of the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car, is ready to tackle the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway this weekend, confident that his team’s potential is on the verge of shining through.

Wilkerson and the SCAG Ford Mustang team are tied for ninth in the Funny Car points standings after a runner-up finish, the second of his career, at the NHRA Winternationals in March that was followed up by a quarterfinal appearance at the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals. Wilkerson had his best qualifying effort at the Charlotte Four-Wide event, starting race day from the No. 3 spot. He is currently looking to break a three-race first round loss streak but despite recent results not fully reflecting their capabilities, Wilkerson and his crew, led by his father and veteran racer, Tim Wilkerson, are optimistic about their performance heading into Bristol.

“We have a better car than the paper shows. We have made strong runs in qualifying in cool conditions and top three laps in hot conditions. I know it, Tim knows it, our whole team knows it, this thing will come around soon,” Wilkerson said. “Tim has never won at Bristol, so checking this race off him and mom’s list would be a great way to turn this thing around.” Continue reading

DAVE RICHARDS AND BLUEBIRD TURF / VERSATRAN TEAM READY TO PUT ON A SHOW AT THE NHRA THUNDER VALLEY NATIONALS

BRISTOL, TN – Dave Richards and the BlueBird Turf / Versatran machine enter this weekend’s Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway determined to showcase their true potential.

Last week in Epping, New Hampshire, Richards qualified 14th for the New England Nationals but had a first round exit.

“I’m excited to get back to the racetrack. Not just because Bristol Dragway is one of my favorite tracks, but because the results from last weekend didn’t show where this BlueBird Turf team is at,” Richards said. “It’s all coming together, I’m excited about it. We’re going to keep working hard and stick to our plan.” Continue reading

BRISTOL, TN – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team are eager for this weekend’s Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Coming off a quarterfinal exit just a handful of days ago at the New England Nationals, Ashley and the SCAG Toyota team appreciate the quick turnaround to race eight of 20 on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series 2025 schedule.

“I’ve always felt that back-to-back races are important for continuity,” Ashley said. “It’s critical for the purposes of getting into a consistent rhythm and routine. We’re fortunate to have had a lot of success at Bristol in the past. Now we’re eager to take what we learned last weekend in Epping, New Hampshire and have the opportunity to apply it right away.”

Ashley, the 2020 NHRA Rookie of the Year, has two victories at iconic Bristol Dragway. He hoisted the Wally in back-to-back events in 2022 and 2023.
