DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG FORD MUSTANG TARGET FIRST WIN AT NHRA SONOMA NATIONALS
SONOMA, CA – Funny Car rising star Daniel Wilkerson is ready to make waves at Sonoma Raceway with the SCAG Power Equipment Ford
Mustang Funny Car team during this weekend’s Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals.
Coming off a series of competitive showings making him a consistent contender, Wilkerson is currently seventh in the Funny Car points standings and eager to capitalize on his team’s momentum to secure his first career NHRA Funny Car win. The second-generation racer has made two semifinal appearances and two quarterfinal appearance in the last four races, putting him within 95 points of the top ten with three races left in the NHRA regular season.
“I can’t wait to go to Sonoma and race because usually it’ll throw you multiple track conditions, and [crew chief] Tim Wilkerson is the master of quickly changing conditions,” said Wilkerson, who is competing with his father as crew chief. “We’ve been chipping away at our cold weather tune-up, and I think at this point everybody knows we got a bad-ass hot weather tune-up. Tim has won here before, so it will be a great place for us to get our first win as a team with me driving.” Continue reading
JUSTIN ASHLEY AND SCAG TOYOTA TEAM AIM FOR STRONG SHOWING AT NHRA SONOMA NATIONALS
SONOMA, CA – Top Fuel standout Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team are set to tackle Sonoma
Raceway for this weekend’s Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals. With a history of success at the picturesque California track, Ashley is focused on leveraging a strong qualifying performance to set the stage for race day.
Ashley won the NHRA Sonoma Nationals back in 2023, defeating now reigning world champion Antron Brown in the finals. In 2024, Ashley was the No. 5 qualifier and defeated Tony Schumacher before coming up short to Tony Stewart in the quarterfinals.
“Sonoma is great. We’ve had success there in the past and always enjoy returning to that facility,” Ashley said. “It’s our goal to qualify well so we put ourselves in a good position heading into raceday. In today’s Top Fuel class, anyone can win from anywhere on the ladder. But if we have a good few rounds of qualifying, that should give us valuable data.” Continue reading

KENT, WA – The Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways wrapped for the three-car SCAG Racing team
with two quarterfinal appearances for Justin Ashley in his SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel team and Daniel Wilkerson in his SCAG Ford Mustang Funny Car team while Dave Richards and the BlueBird Turf Funny Car had a first round exit to his teammate.
Daniel Wilkerson started race day from the No. 5 spot on a 3.926-second pass at 327.51 mph setting him up with a first-round match up against No. 12 qualifier and teammate Dave Richards who made it in the show off a 4.026 at 311.05 on Saturday night. Wilkerson would have a clean pass to go 3.909 at 325.37 mph while the BlueBird Turf machine ran into issues to go 5.613 at 136.36.
“It was great weekend having all my family at the track. Our relatives from Canada came down, my wife and girls were here, it was great,” Richards said. “It felt great qualifying on that last run on Saturday, a little more suspenseful than I think we would have liked but it all worked out. We’re still working hard on our tune-up and our program but it’s all coming along. It’s going to start clicking real soon and I’m really looking forward to it.” Continue reading
DAVE RICHARDS AND BLUEBIRD TURF TEAM SET SIGHTS ON NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS
KENT, WA – Funny Car veteran Dave Richards and his BlueBird Turf / Versatran Ford Mustang Funny Car team are looking to make some
fond memories at this weekends on Pacific Raceways at this weekend’s Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals.
After a two-week hiatus, Richards is eager to return to the track and build on the team’s ongoing pursuit of consistency. In his second full season driving the BlueBird / Versatran machine for SCAG Racing, Richards is looking to replace the memory of last year’s first round loss.
“I’m excited to get back on the track. Two weeks off seems like an eternity. Definitely looking to redeem ourselves from the wall incident last year at Pacific Raceways,” said Richards referencing his Funny Car smoking the tires and making an abrupt right turn into the wall during the first round of eliminations in 2024. “We’ve come a long way since then, a long way. I’m proud of this team. We’ve kept it together, worked hard, and it’s paying off—we see it in the little things. Now it’s about getting that to translate and come together on the racetrack.” Continue reading
DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG FORD MUSTANG POISED FOR BREAKTHROUGH AT NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS
KENT, WA – Daniel Wilkerson and his SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang team are charged up and ready to roar at Pacific Raceways for
this weekend’s Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals.
Despite coming off back-to-back Mission Foods #2Fast 2Tasty NHRA Challenge victories, Wilkerson is eager to rebound from a disappointing race day performance in Norwalk where he qualified No. 8 and had a first-round win against Rookie of the Year candidate Spencer Hyde only to red-light against veteran Cruz Pedregon in the quarterfinals.
“I got to do a little racing this weekend, so I could finally get over my crummy performance at Norwalk,” Wilkerson said. “Super excited to get back into our SCAG Power Equipment car under the lights and make some noise this weekend.”
Currently tied for sixth in points, Wilkerson has qualified in the top half of the field for three-consecutive races. He tallied two back-to-back semifinal appearances before his second-round exit in Norwalk. Last year at Pacific Raceways, Wilkerson qualified 8th but came up short to Pedregon in the first round. JUSTIN ASHLEY PRIMED FOR SUCCESS AT NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS
KENT, WA – Top Fuel standout Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota dragster team are gearing up for a high-stakes
weekend at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways. Coming off a strong performance that ended with victory in Norwalk, Ohio, Ashley is poised to capitalize on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the Seattle event.
“Seattle is going to be a barnburner,” Ashley said. “The first round of qualifying is always important for getting a baseline, but this time it’s even more critical because it’ll be the best conditions we see all weekend. We have to be ready because it could easily lock in the qualifying positions for a lot of the field and we would love to bring home that Deecell Power Systems ‘After Dark Low Qualifier’ bonus.”
The nitro Funny Car and Top Fuel teams will have one chance at qualifying on Friday night under the lights before three qualifying sessions on Saturday. To celebrate what is sure to be a stunning show of power, speed and header flames, Deecell Power Systems, the Official Solar Power Unit of NHRA, is sponsoring a low qualifier bonus that will be given out Friday night to the provisional No. 1 qualifiers in the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series. JUSTIN ASHLEY AND SCAG TOYOTA TAKE HOME ICE CREAM SCOOP AT SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT MOTORSPORTS PARK
NORWALK, OH – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team battled to victory Sunday at the Summit
Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. SCAG Racing Funny Car teammates, Daniel Wilkerson in the SCAG Ford Mustang and Dave Richards in the BlueBird Turf / Versatran Mustang, each had quarterfinal finishes.
In his third consecutive final round, sixth of the season which includes a final quad appearance at the Las Vegas Four-Wide that earned him semifinal points, Ashley had a stellar .027 second reaction time coupled with a 3.931-second, 317.34 mph pass to defeat Clay Millican on a holeshot. Millican had a .089 reaction time with a 3.922, 322.34 pass.
“This is very exciting, Norwalk means a lot to me personally, my father won in Funny Car here in 2007 and ever since we started racing in Top Fuel, it was a dream of mine to win right here and that’s what we did today,” Ashley said. “It’s special. And the team did a great job all weekend long qualifying No. 1, navigating our way down the racetrack all race day long on a surface that was hot, slippery and very tricky. The teams who win these races are the ones that can go A to B, and that’s what we did today. I’m just glad it worked out and I’m really proud of Mike Green, Tommy DeLago and our whole team. They deserve this win and I’m happy that I could be along for the ride.” Continue reading
SATURDAY IN OHIO: JUSTIN ASHLEY PUTS SCAG TOYOTA NO. 1; DANIEL WILKERSON WINS BACK-TO-BACK #2FAST2TASTY CHALLENGE
NORWALK, OH – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team officially earned their first No. 1 qualifying
position of the season while Daniel Wilkerson and his SCAG Ford Mustang picked up their second consecutive Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge victory Saturday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.
Ashley and his Mike Green and Tommy DeLago led SCAG Toyota team laid down a 3.752-second pass at 330.88 mph on Friday night to earn their first No. 1 of the season, seventh of Ashley’s career and first at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.
“It’s pretty neat, you know, our first number one qualifier all year, and it’s important. We try to use qualifying the right way; it’s an opportunity to set ourselves up for Sunday, and we feel like we did a good job of that and also ended up qualifying number one,” Ashley said. “All that stuff really gets thrown away tomorrow, though. It doesn’t matter who you’re racing, whether you’re 1 or 16 or somewhere in between, anybody can win, especially in today’s Top Fuel class, but a No. 1 qualifier speaks highly of the guys that we have. So, great job all the way around by our group.” Continue reading
DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG MUSTANG LOOKING TO CAPITALIZE ON MOMENTUM AT SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT NHRA NATIONALS
NORWALK, OH – Daniel Wilkerson, driver of the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang, heads to this weekend’s Summit Racing
Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park with a deep connection to the track and a strong desire to deliver a standout performance.
“Norwalk is particularly special to me because it’s where I made my first run next to a competitor. The Bader family needed a filler car in 2007 for their Night Under Fire event, and we made a couple awesome runs. We’ve been invited back a lot since then,” said Wilkerson. “Summit Racing Equipment has also supported my entire career, and this is their home track, so we will be spending time with them and their employees leading into and throughout this weekend. Hopefully we can put on an equal to or better performance as the last couple races for everyone that supports us.”
Wilkerson’s history at Norwalk, combined with the support of Summit Racing Equipment, adds extra motivation for the SCAG Power Equipment team to shine. Coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances at the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee and the Virginia Nationals just last weekend where he also captured the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge victory, Wilkerson is currently seventh in points and on the heels of capturing his first professional Funny Car victory. JUSTIN ASHLEY AND SCAG TOYOTA ON A ROLL HEADING TO OHIO
NORWALK, OH – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team enter this weekend’s Summit Racing
Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park hungry for victory.
Currently third in points, Ashley has visited the final round of an NHRA national event five times this season, including back-to-back final quad appearances at the Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas and Charlotte, the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago, the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee and last weekend’s Virginia Nationals outside of Richmond.
Ashley’s most recent visit to the finals resulted in a less than conventional victory at Virginia Motorsports Park. Following the conclusion of the event, NHRA issued a statement disqualifying Shawn Langdon’s winning run, “The disqualification is due to a rulebook violation related to missing bolts on the bellhousing inspection cover.” By default, Ashley was awarded the win, his first of the season and 16th of his career.
