Cat-like speed left in Brogdon’s engine for NHRA Midwest Nationals eliminations

ST. LOUIS – Wanting to harness recent-found speed, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon is more than optimistic about his chances during the Roger BrogdonAAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.

After repeat engine changes throughout qualifying, the Owens Corning Chevy Camaro came alive in Q4 to make its best pass of the weekend, 6.558 at 211.43 mph.

“Well Q2 we actually put in a different engine, our spare engine,” Brogdon said. “It’s a spare for a reason though; it’s not as good as we would like it to be. Because of that, last night the guys put a new lifter in the first engine and put it back in the car.

Testing sheds new light for Brogdon before the NHRA Midwest Nationals

ST. LOUIS, IL – Staying behind an extra day in Dallas, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon feels that Monday’s test session has him better Roger Brogdonprepared for this week’s 3rd annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.

“We learned a whole bunch of stuff on Monday,” Brogdon said. “We ought to be better this weekend. I now have six runs under my belt that I didn’t have before.

“While we learned from testing, we didn’t solve all our problems by any means. We’re still having trouble getting through the 330-foot mark. The car just seems to want to pull a lot through the low gears, and we haven’t figured out how to fix it yet. We have some more ideas though, so we’re going to keep trying.”

Brogdon to test Owens Corning Camaro after defeat in Dallas

DALLAS, TX – Owens Corning Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon understands the Texas heat because he’s a native of the Houston area, but he is Roger Brogdonmore than willing to battle the heat and humidity one more day after falling out of the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals on Sunday at Texas Motorplex.

A perplexing engine issue hampered Brogdon’s efforts, with computer data showing the powerplant in Brogdon’s Camaro shut off ever so briefly during his first-round run against Erica Enders-Stevens. So Brogdon and his team will stay another day in Dallas to test their Owens Corning Camaro.

“We can’t put it in the trailer and go to St. Louis like this,” Brogdon said. “We need to make some runs and figure it out. We’ll regroup, fix the problems, and be better in St. Louis. That’s the plan.”

Brogdon has ‘ace in the hole’ for Charlotte/Dallas events

DALLAS, TX – There is no doubt that things will be different for Owens Corning Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon when he lines up for the Roger Brogdoncontinuation of the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals this weekend.

For one, the race will be run at Texas Motorplex instead of zMax Dragway because NHRA postponed the event from last weekend. And the first round will be run Saturday in what will also serve as the second qualifying session of the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals.

But Brogdon, the No. 13 qualifier for Charlotte, has one more surprise in store, though he won’t reveal details until Friday.

“We’ve got a little ace in the hole we’re pulling out this weekend,” Brogdon said. “Our first-round opponent is not going to be racing the same combination that we had in Charlotte.”

“All I know is either way we’re glad to have the Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro going in the right direction.”

Brogdon hopes for better performance from Owens Corning Camaro

CHARLOTTE, NC – Rodger Brogdon and his Owens Corning Pro Stock team continue building for the future with the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Roger BrogdonNationals this weekend at zMax Dragway.

Brogdon unveiled a new Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro for the U.S. Nationals two weeks ago, but the new-car blues struck the team, as Brogdon struggled to turn increased horsepower into top-half passes. However, after testing at two different tracks before Charlotte, Brogdon knows the future is bright.

“It’s going to be a fantastic car when we get done with it,” Brogdon said. “I really do like it. It’s the straightest car I’ve ever had in Pro Stock. The last couple I’ve had, they just seemed to not go straight. This one does, and every time I turned it loose it’s like it’s on a string. That tells me it’s a good car.”
