Brogdon leaves Pomona optimistic about 2015 season

POMONA, CA – Continuing to put up win lights in the late going of the season, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon ended the 50th annual Auto Roger BrogdonClub NHRA Finals and 2014 season on a high note.

Meeting Allen Johnson in round one of eliminations, Brogdon’s Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro left the line second and the chase was on. After a slight slip from Johnson, Brogdon was able to motor his way to the next round with a 6.528-second pass.

“We struggled with our car since we got here and we struggled a little bit with our clutch setup,” Brogdon said. “We changed what we would normally do for an adjustment in that first run and only did about half. It really seemed to work since we usually were on either side of it, too heavy or too light. I think we got it now. That run there showed a lot of promise.”

Brogdon’s bid for second win in a row turns red in Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Owens Corning Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon finally ran out of luck.

Roger BrogdonAfter scoring a victory at the previous race on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule, in Reading, Pa., Brogdon had more good fortune in the first round of the NHRA Toyota Nationals on Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

But his hot streak ended with a red-light in the second round.

“You can’t win them all, especially in Vegas, right?” Brogdon said. “I can’t complain because we caught a break in the first round.”

Racing Vincent Nobile in round one, Brogdon staged his Chevrolet Camaro but then didn’t move as the engine broke. Nobile, though, left .119-second too soon to draw a red-light and hand the win to Brogdon.

Brogdon ready to battle for second Pro Stock victory in a row

LAS VEGAS – Owens Corning Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon hasn’t made a perfect run during qualifying for the NHRA Toyota Nationals this Roger Brogdonweekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but he’s not worried.

Brogdon came into final eliminations at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., three weeks ago in a similar fashion. And what did he do there? Won the race.

“Basically, we’re going in tomorrow the same way we were the Sunday at Reading by not making our best run yet,” Brogdon said. “It’s less of a difference this time. We’ll save our best for our first run tomorrow and build off that.”

Brogdon will go for his second victory in a row from the No. 9 position after a top qualifying effort of 6.627 seconds at 209.36 mph. He made a 6.627-second pass in both the third and fourth qualifying sessions, but his Q3 run was the official time because of a faster speed.

Reading winner Brogdon ready for more excitement in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Owens Corning Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon has experienced the gamut of emotions during the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Roger BrogdonRacing Series season.

Coming off a stunning victory three weeks ago, Brogdon is on a high as he prepares for the NHRA Toyota Nationals this weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

That win came during a roller-coaster season that has seen Brogdon skip races, change engine builders, and buy out business partner Steve Kent.

“It’s not over yet,” Brogdon said. “I’ve still got two races to go and there’s no telling what’s going to happen. It would be nice to go win those two, and it wouldn’t surprise me. It wouldn’t surprise me to get my butt beat in the first round or I could win both races.

Owens Corning racer Brogdon scores second career win at NHRA Nationals

READING, PA – For the second time ever in his career Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon ended race day hoisting a Wally, this one coming at the Roger Brogdon - Maple GroveNHRA Nationals in Reading.

“We were so fortunate that Owens Corning got on board with us for the final six races,” Brogdon said. “They are such a great company. Partnering their support with Richard Freeman’s Elite Motorsports horsepower has made the difference. I knew we had the power to get it done today and here we are.

“This wouldn’t be possible without all my guys, every single one of them. They’ve put a lot of effort into this car even when the results weren’t where we wanted them.”

Brogdon has good read on Reading after steady qualifying effort at Maple Grove

READING, PA – Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon started his weekend with a touch of food poisoning but that did little to slow down the driver Roger Brogdon - Maple Groveof the Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro, who was quick to get the bad taste out of his mouth and ultimately qualify with a strong pass of 6.540 seconds at 211.53 mph.

The swift run placed the native Texan 11th in a very quick Pro Stock field and sets up a first-round date with part-time racer Richie Stevens, who posted a best of 6.506 at 212.26 mph. The two men have not raced each other this year but they both use Elite Performance horsepower, leveling the playing field quite a bit.

“Friday was just about a blur for me,” Brogdon said. “Aside from the brief time I was in the car, I was pretty down. Just feeling terrible. Thankfully, everything seems to have run through my system and I got a good night’s sleep and was ready for today. The boys continued to work hard and as the track got better, we improved.

Swinging for the fences, Brogdon hopes to hit a home run in Reading

READING, PA – While Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon didn’t get the opportunity to put in extra track time at Gateway Motorsports Park this Roger Brogdonweek, he still has a plan of attack for the NHRA Nationals this weekend in Reading.

“We decided not to stay and test at Gateway due to other obligations back at home,” Brogdon said. “We’re going to go to Reading though and change everything in that car, front to back. It’ll be a whole different car when we get there than it was this past weekend. We’re going in a whole different direction, that’s for sure.

“We’re not starting from scratch but we’re making some major moves in the four-link area since we can’t get it in the 330-foot area.”

Brogdon optimistic after NHRA Midwest Nationals

ST. LOUIS – Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon was more than ready to play head games during the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Roger Brogdon - St LouisGateway Motorsports Park Sunday.

Trying to get the extra advantage during the first round, Brogdon nudged the Owens Corning Camaro deep into the staging area. Quick to drop the clutch, he triggered the red-light by just eight-thousandths to hand the win over to Vincent Nobile, who cut a killer .012 reaction time.

“I figure I had to be .020 on the tree or better to win,” Brogdon said. “I might have popped it in there a bit deep though without really meaning to and I had my engine a little too high as well. I knew I was deeper than I had been all weekend, but that still didn’t kill me overall. It maybe killed my run by five-thousandths if we estimated correctly.”
