Bear’s presents the Most Consistent Qualifier Award at each PMRA race, and through a random selection, awards both a Top Sportsman and Top Dragster team in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series.

Adler, Positano, and Catanzaro claim wins during Super Chevy Show at US 131

MARTIN, MI – Round two saw first-time winners in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Randy AdlerPro Bike & Sled Series during the Super Chevy Show held at US 131 Motorsports Park at Martin Michigan over the weekend.

Winning his first PMRA race was Randy Adler, while Tony Positano captured his first Quick 32 Sportsman Series win, and Mark Catanzaro rode to his first PBSS victory.

Racing his 1957 Chevy Pro Modified from Tinley Park, Illinois, Adler qualified second in the PMRA field. Sponsored by the A-Team Speed Shop, the Chevy of the UDRA and Super Chevy series champ features a blown AJ Hemi on a Tim McAmis Race Cars produce.

Winners hoping to repeat success at upcoming Super Chevy Show at US 131 Motorsports Park

CAYUGA, ON – With one win in the 2014 season, the victors are hoping to repeat their success at the next event for the Pro PMRA-10th-logo-500pxModified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

All three drag race series continue this weekend, May 30 – June 1 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan as part of the track’s Super Chevy Show.

First-time Quick 32 Sportsman Series winner Glen Vardy would especially enjoy a win at Martin, as his Top Dragster is Chevy powered and won the opener at Grand Bend May 18.

We had an awesome weekend at Grand Bend, said the Burlington, Ontario racer. We are going to Michigan to try it again. We are going to try to be the quickest Chevy at the Super Chevy Show.

Vardy presently leads in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, followed by the Top Sportsman teams of Wilson and Gray of Ingersoll, Ontario, and Wes Goddard of Guelph, Ontario.

PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS off to US 131 Motorsports Park

CAYUGA, ON – Three top drag racing series will compete in their second round of 2014 at the upcoming Super Chevy Show and PMRA-Pro ModNight of Thunder at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan May 30 – June 1.

The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series are proud to return to the Michigan facility for the third time, and are proud to be a part of this spectacular weekend of drag racing action.

We really enjoy coming to US 131 Motorsports Park, and to be a part of this year’s Super Chevy Show weekend is fantastic, said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all three series. Our teams are proud to be a part of this great show.

Boland, Vardy, Cryderman win drag racing openers at Grand Bend Motorplex

GRAND BEND, ON – Two series champions and a fourth-year team scored big in the opening round of the Pro Modified Racing Bruce Boland - Grand BendAssociation, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series over the weekend.

The event, the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil Spring Blowout, was held at the Grand Bend Motorplex and was the first race for all three series of 2014.

Three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland won his opener, as did last year’s PBSS champion Dan Cryderman, while the Quick 32 Sportsman Series win went to fourth-year racer Glen Vardy.

Boland, of Stoney Creek, drove the B&B Racing 1968 Firebird Pro Modified to number one qualifier spot at Grand Bend with a 6.131, 233.10 posting. He took out Jason Kalso of Clarkston, Michigan in round one and Quebec’s Denis Lachance in the semi to meet up with number six qualifier Jack Grainy of Basom, NY in the final. Although Grainy was away first, handling problems on the 1967 Camaro made him back off, while Boland went on to a 6.181 at 239.74 and the win.

The win was Boland’s 11th in 10 years of PMRA competition.

PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS start drag racing season with RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil Spring Blowout

GRAND BEND, ON – The 2014 season is underway for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PMRA-Pro ModPro Bike & Sled Series after two qualifying rounds for the opener of all three series, the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil Spring Blowout being held this weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Pacing the PMRA Pro Modifieds after Friday’s qualifying runs is Al Martorino. The first-year PMRA racer, from Cobourg, Ontario, presently leads the field with his 2006 Mustang, followed by the 1963 Corvette of Quebec’s Denis Lachance and the 1941 Willys of Jeff Roth of New Hamburg, Ontario.

Grand Bend to host opening day for three drag race series

CAYUGA, ON – The numbers 10, 6, and 4 will be significant this coming weekend for three of the top drag race series in Canada.

245_cdr_grainy_000The season begins at Grand Bend Motorplex for the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil MAYHEM at the BEND Presented By Mickey Thompson Tires May 16-18. This event will mark the 10th season for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the sixth season for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the fourth season for the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

Running in heads-up competition, the PMRA Pro Modifieds will celebrate its 10th year in 2014. Its two companion series, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA, and the PBSS, presented by Wiseco Performance Products, will also begin their year.

Dan Flanigan looking for successful year with NOCO Motorsports Top Sportsman Camaro

BUFFALO, NY – Dan Flanigan is excited about racing in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series this year. The Buffalo, NY driver of the NOCO Dan FlaniganMotorsports Top Sportsman Chevy Camaro will be racing with renewed vigor both on and off the track.

Last year was a good year for us, noted Flanigan, who finished seventh in the Championship Point Award Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts. But this year we plan to go to a new improved level.

Track-side, NOCO Motorsports has employed the talents of Mike Mitchell as crew chief for the NOCO Motorsports Racing Team Camaro in 2014, Mike will be dedicated to the performance and set-up of the car, leaving me the driving duties and devote my time to other NOCO Motorsports activities including marketing, promotion, and public relations for the team and specifically NOCO, according to Flanigan.

It is official: winter is gone with the start of drag racing at the Grand Bend Motorplex

CAYUGA, ON – After a relentless winter throughout most of North America the past few months, drag race teams in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series are making last minute preparations for the 2014 opener.

This year the three series will kick off their seasons at the Grand Bend Motorplex for the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil MAYHEM at the BEND Presented By Mickey Thompson Tires May 16-18.

It has been a long cold winter and we are getting ready for the opener, stated Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all three series. Everyone has had enough of the winter and can’t wait to get on the track May 16.

More power for Brody VanDerGeld Top Dragster going into Grand Bend series opener

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Some major engine modifications and more familiarity behind in the seat should give Brody VanDerGeld more Brody VanDerGeldsuccess this year in Quick 32 Sportsman Series competition.

The Cambridge, Ontario driver of the Lowdown Hot Rods Team Top Dragster entry has been on a learning curve the past two seasons, but according to Brody’s father Tom, who is also crew chief for the team, Brody’s confidence has increased when behind the wheel of the dragster.

Brody is a lot more comfortable in the car, noted Tom. We have tried to be consistent, and we should have a good season with more power in the car.

This year marks the sixth season of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, a popular drag racing series presented by NAPA Auto Parts. It pits Top Dragster entries against Top Sportsman entries in 16-car fields with the top eliminator of each going up for an event winner in the final round.
