Latest round of PMRA racing postponed due to rain at Grand Bend

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – The final round in the latest Pro
Modified Racing Association race was postponed due to rain, and the event winner and Series Championship will be determined at Grand Bend over the Labor Day weekend.
The two finalists are number one qualifier Mike Stawicki of Medina, NY, and Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario, who qualified in sixth position.
Both Stawicki, who drives the G-Force Race Cars 1968 Firebird, and Andreacchi, driver of the Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc. 1969 Chevy Nova, are previous PMRA event winners.
Stawicki, who set a new Canadian Pro Modified time record with a 5.7379-second pass in qualifying, eliminated Paul Noakes of London, Ontario in his 1963 Corvette to advance to the final. Andreacchi won his semi over Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario, in his 1963 Corvette.

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – Mike Stawicki continues to dominate in Pro Modified racing. The Medina, NY driver of the
G-Force Race Cars 1968 Firebird not only set the pace as top qualifier in the latest round of the Pro Modified Racing Association during the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts at the Grand Bend Motorplex, he once again broke the elapsed time record for the class in Canada.
On his third qualifying attempt in the Marydel Homes qualifying session, Stawicki posted a 5.739-second, 254.23-mph pass, which is the quickest Pro Modified pass in Canadian history. His time is only one one-thousandth of a second behind the all-time record of 5.738 seconds set by Scotty Cannon.

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – When the Pro Modified Racing Association rolls in to the Grand Bend Motorplex this coming weekend of August 7-8 for the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply &
NAPA Auto Parts, the teams will be on their game plan in this hotly-contest 2010 season.
“We have any number of teams who could win this round,” noted Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA. “So far this season we have recorded a different winner for each event.”
The top three teams in the Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport are Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York with 828 points, Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario with 812 points, and Eric Latino of Port Perry, Ontario with 806 points. Each of these three racers has won an event this year.

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – Mike Stawicki has made it known that he is the force in Pro Modified racing this season. The veteran driver of the G-Force Race Cars MSR Performance powered 1968 Firebird from Medina, New York,
qualified number one for race three in the 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association tour, and went the distance to win his first PMRA event of the year and the first IHRA Ironman of his career.
Stawicki beat former Alcohol Funny Car driver Paul Noakes of London, Ontario in the final. Noakes, who has settled nicely behind the wheel of the Noakes and Martin Racing 1963 Corvette, qualified seventh, and ran a stout 6.293, 223.28 final but it was no match for Stawicki’s 5.820, 253.28 victory run.
While Stawicki qualified number one, to win the Marydel Homes Qualifying Bonus with a 5.881, 252.05 lap, it was the New Yorker’s final run that set low ET and top speed during the IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals held at the Grand Bend Motorplex. Stawicki has been running in the five-second range since he set the PMRA Series record with a 5.803 at 255.15 during the previous event at the Cayuga Dragway.

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – After two days of qualifying at the IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals at Grand Bend, Ontario, PMRA Pro Modified driver Mike Stawicki leads the field into final eliminations on Sunday with his G-Force Race Cars MSR Performance powered 1968 Firebird.
Stawicki ran a 5.881-seconds at 252.05-miles per hour on Friday night to win the Marydel Homes Qualifying Bonus in round three of the 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association season.
Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario, was second with a 6.169, 227.08, followed by Bruce Boland, Eric Latino, Vito Montesano, current Pro Modified Racing Association 2010 Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport leader Derek Hawker, Paul Noakes and Jack Brohman.

CAYUGA, ONTARIO – With a rookie leading the points race, two different winners in the last two races, and one of
the regular PMRA competitors setting a North American Pro Modified speed record, this weekend’s Pro Modified Racing Association event during the IHRA MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals promises to be one of the best in the history of the drag race series.
This weekend’s racing will be held at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.
“We’re now into our sixth season. We have a solid series and a great group of dedicated teams” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA. “Our car counts have increased dramatically, and our shows are very popular with the fans.
Derek Hawker wins first PMRA Pro Modified race at TMP’s Cayuga Dragway

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (July 4, 2010) – Driving his 1963 Corvette Pro Modified, Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario
won the second round in the 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association, held at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
Hawker was scheduled to meet up with Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York in the final round, but the G-Force Race Cars 1968 Firebird broke in the semi, giving the win to Hawker.
The win was Hawker’s first in PMRA competition. The race was also Hawker’s second PMRA event, and the rookie and former Sportsman driver went to the final round at the first PMRA event in May earlier this year. He qualified seventh in the eight-car field.

Skull Motorsports Team back in PMRA Competition for 2010 Season

MAPLE, ONTARIO – Other than painting their race car, The Skull Motorsports Team of Ralph Andreacchi and Tony Piselli have only made a few minor changes to their Corvette Pro Modified for this year’s Pro Modified Racing
Association series.
“We haven’t made many changes this season,” noted car tuner and former team driver Ralph Andreacchi, who has won PMRA events in the past behind the wheel.
Powered by an Al Billes Racing 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi, the engine sits between the frame rails of a Tim McAmis Race Car chassis. Behind the engine is a Bruno’s Automotive Products Lenco transmission, and the car is fuelled with an Al Billes Racing fuel system. A Kobelco K-11 supercharger, which Andreacchi said is running a 20 percent overdrive as per NHRA specs, sits atop the engine.
Noakes and Martin Team Up to do Battle in the PMRA

BARRIE, ONTARIO – Tim Martin and Paul Noakes have pooled their talent and racing equipment to form a new Pro
Modified team which brings a lot to the table in Pro Modified Racing Association competition.
After racing in the PMRA last season, Martin, of Barrie, Ontario got together with former Alcohol Funny Car driver Paul Noakes of London, Ontario recently and began this alliance which will see Noakes drive the Corvette Pro Modified for the remainder of the PMRA year.
Noakes, who was a top contender in the IHRA Alcohol Funny Car ranks for over 20 years, decided to get into the doorslammer after the IHRA closed the door on the Funny Car class.
