Street Warrior 10.10 Joins the NMCA Battle at 2024 Season Opener in Rockingham

Santa Ana, CA – Born of technology and ingenuity, fast street cars are all the rage in modern drag racing. Beginning with its first event of the 2024 season, NMCA provides a new class for low-10-second street/strip machines to battle on the quarter-mile — Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Street Warrior 10.10 presented by Chevrolet Performance.

“We’ve seen huge growth among our street-car classes in both the NMCA and NMRA series,” said Rollie Miller, General Manager & National Event Director of NMCA. “Street Warrior 10.10 will open the door for really quick, GM-powered street cars to compete on the national stage and earn payout and pro level contingency money while competing for a championship.”

Debuting at Rockingham Dragway on April 11-14, 2024 as part of the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Street Warrior 10.10 presented by Chevrolet Performance will showcase street-legal (including current registration and valid insurance) rides capable of running single-digit elapsed time but competing with a single index. Run with a heads-up start on a .400 Pro Tree and running the full quarter mile, Street Warrior 10.10 competitors will be randomly paired via chip draw during eliminations.

Race Wrap | TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival

Martin, MI – As racers reach the middle of the race season, it would be understandable if they were worn out. Abundant attention, exhaustive effort, and staying alert through adversity are relentlessly required, but rather than throwing in the towel, racers are throwing everything they have at their programs, and they proved that at the TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival presented by Paul’s High Performance, July 20-23 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.

There were personal bests and personal victories, as well as meaningful moments and memories made at this event. Along the way, racers left their mark on the facility known as the Fastest Track in Michigan. This story focuses on NMCA racers, while a separate story focuses on NMRA racers.

“NMCA competition is always intense and incredible as racers continue to push their combinations and themselves to peak performance levels,” said Rollie Miller, NMCA General Manager and National Event Director. “We witnessed wonderful results at this event, and suspense is high as we head into the last two NMCA events of the year where championships will be cemented.”

NMCA Race Wrap | NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing

MADISON, IL – Many spellbinding moments have been in the spotlight at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing over the years. The storied event has seen racers from both series overcome obstacles and put down personal bests, and they have endeared and excited everyone in the process.

This year’s event, the 18th Annual NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing, was held May 5-7, 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois, and it will go down in history as one of the most action-packed and astonishing.

Among the special features was the Testo Shootouts, a new format for the runoff portion of the event that allowed points leaders to race against qualifying leaders for a chance to earn cash and the coveted Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Rings. If the points leader was also the qualifying leader, the points leader then raced the number two qualifier.

BIGFOOT #1, the Monster Truck that started it all for owner Bob Chandler, as well as BIGFOOT #8, capture attention at events across the country, and fans were certainly fascinated by both of them at this event.

Santa Ana, CA – The NMRA/NMCA event team continues to grow and evolve with some promotions within and new additions in key positions over the last four months.

NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, NMCA Race Report

Rockingham, NC – Returning to Rockingham Dragway in scenic North Carolina, the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals Presented by MAHLE Motorsport over the weekend of April 14-16, 2023 was full of dramatic ups and downs over three days of exciting racing but ultimately, winners were celebrated in style and presented with their hard-earned Victor awards.

From the on-track action to the special add-ons such as the Bigfoot monster truck hanging out for cool fan photo ops, wild flame-throwing jet dragster exhibition runs by Dawn Perdue and Larry Aldrich, the Top of the Rock Fan Appreciation Party hosted by Clarence Barnes and Chris the Car Guy, a massive car show with a diverse variety of American muscle spanning every production decade, vendor midway, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy.

Doorslammer drag racing’s quickest and fastest heavy hitters came to play in VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod. Driving Tyler Jenkins’s 1957 Buick, Ty Tutterow dominated the field in qualifying and went 3.647 at 205.48 mph to set the pace. He powered his way into the final round against Craig Sullivan and his “El Mero Mero” 1949 Mercury where it was a battle of the vintage blower cars showcasing traditional old-school Pro Mod racing at its finest. Both men left the tree together and went straight down Broadway, but Sullivan, who had qualified third, pulled off an upset with a 3.675 at 208.72 mph pass to not only get the win but also to clock the fastest speed of the weekend.

Race Wrap | NMCA Scoggin Dickey Muscle Car Mayhem

Orland, FL – With hard launches, huge wheelies, and head-to-head racing, competitors settled right into the new home of the Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem presented by Holbrook Racing Engines, March 17-19, 2023 at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida.

They thrilled at every turn as they took aim at the NMCA Winner’s Circle at this first of six events on this year’s Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals tour, and along the way, they confirmed their commitment and courage.

“We saw some amazing racing at our highly anticipated NMCA season opener at Orlando Speed World Dragway,” said Rollie Miller, NMCA General Manager and National Event Director. “On the well-prepped national stage, racers showed us what we can expect to see on this year’s chase to the championships, and we are in for a wild ride.”

Race after race, VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod competitors prove that they want more and are willing to work for it, and Ty Tutterow and Robert Abbott were certainly among them at this event. Tutterow, in his 1957 Buick-bodied Pro Mod, hammered the tree with an .014 and then hauled to a 3.634 to take a trip to the winner’s circle over Abbott, who was right there with a 3.635 in his Camaro-bodied hot rod.

NMCA’s 2023 Season Blasts Off In Orlando With Pro Mods & More

Santa Ana, CA — Just west of where rockets regularly blast into space, the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals will launch its 2023 season at Orlando Speed World in Orlando, Florida. The new venue will pack the same excitement from a host of heads-up and index drag racing featuring the World’s Fastest Muscle Cars.

From the insanely quick VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mods and high-flying Holley EFI Factory Super Cars classes to the retro-cool Quick Fuel Technology Nostalgia Super Stock and sealed-engine Chevrolet Performance Stock categories, there is something for every muscle car fan at NMCA events in 2023.

“After a wildly successful campaign last season, we can’t wait to kick off in March with Scoggin Dickey NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem presented by Holbrook Racing Engines,” Steve Wolcott, President and CEO of NMCA, said. “For the first time, NMCA will race at Orlando Speed World to begin the season, and we’re sure racers can’t wait to head south and warm up their tires at a venue known for hosting historic street-car races.”

21st Annual NMCA World Street Finals Presented By Chevrolet Performance — Race Wrap

Indianapolis, IN – Randy Merrick, Chuck Watson II and Leonard Long were among the winners crowned this weekend at the 21stannual NMCA World Street Finals presented by Chevrolet Performance at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The event was the sixth and final race in the 2022 Red Line Synthetic Oil NMCA Drag Racing Series.

Merrick won just about everything there was to win in VP Fuels Pro Mod as he won the event, clinched the championship, and also capped off the weekend with a new NMCA record of 3.609-seconds in his Corvette out of Glenallen, Mo. Merrick capped off the victory with a 3.629, 206.45 run in the final round to beat Jim Widener, who was close behind with a 3.667, 205.44 run in his ’17 Corvette.

There was also a sweep in the Holley Factory Super Car category, as Chuck Watson II of Grosse Ile, Mich., put together one of the best performances to win the event over A.J. Berge. Watson II was driving his trusty Cobra Jet Mustang scoring a win, a championship, and a record. The top qualifier, with a 7.618 elapsed time, Watson II rode that momentum to the final round where he outran the Dodge Challenger of No. 2 qualifier Berge with a 7.659, 180.65 run. Berge made it close with a 7.720, 181.20, his best run of the event in the final round.

Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Announces 2023 Event Schedule

Santa Ana, CA – The Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals series kicks off its 2023 season at a new track and will rumble on through five familiar facilities delivering drag racing action from Xtreme Pro Mods and Factory Super Cars to True Street and index classes.

“As the second-largest sanctioning body in the world of drag racing, NMCA has a storied history of putting on events that serve up crazy-fast performances for fans of Detroit muscle cars to enjoy,” Steve Wolcott, President and CEO of NMCA said. “That tradition continues in 2023 as we start the season at an exciting new facility in Florida and run through our final event in Indianapolis.”

Launching in Orlando for the first time from March 16-19, 2023 with the 21st Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem, the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals series joins forces with its sister series in Rockingham, North Carolina from April 13-16, 2023 for the 15th Annual NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. That event begins a three-event run of both series running concurrently, which is rounded out by the 18th Annual NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl Of Street Legal Drag Racing running from May 4-7, 2023 in Madison, Illinois, and the 3rd Annual NMRA/NMCA Power Festival in Martin, Michigan, from July 20-23, 2023. NMCA races on its own for the final two events of the season with the 22nd Annual NMCA All-American Nationals from August 24-27, 2023 in Norwalk, Ohio, and the 22nd Annual NMCA World Street Finals from September 21-24, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

NMCA Racers Astound at America’s Racetrack

Norwalk, OH – The variety of cars, combinations and competitors combined for a magnificent and memorable event at the NMCA All-American Nationals presented by Sick the Magazine, Aug. 25-28 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The race track was hooking, and as a result, the racers were hauling at the fifth of six events on the NMCA tour.

On their minds were the memories they would make if they made it to the NMCA Winner’s Circle and collected a coveted Victor Award at America’s Racetrack.

“Summit Motorsports Park was proud to welcome the NMCA racers to our home for this exciting event,” said Bill Bader Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “We were happy to celebrate their accomplishments with them, whether they had a personal best or picked up a win, and we hope the fans enjoyed the action as much as we did.”

Furiously fast cars were flying in VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod, where reigning champion Chip King set the pace with a 3.65 in his Mustang Mach 1. When the final round of eliminations rolled around, however, Randy Merrick and Jason Hamstra pulled to the starting line. Merrick muscled to the win with a 3.68 in his Corvette over Hamstra, who was literally right there with a 3.71 in his Camaro.
