CONWAY, WILLIAMS, AND WRIGHT WIN IN THUNDER VALLEY
NOBLE, OK – Sean Conway, Kirk Williams, and Ed Wright all scored final victories Sunday at the NHRA Lucas Oil 
Drag Racing Series, South Central Division, Thunder in the Heartland at Thunder Valley Raceway Park.
Conway, Spring, Texas, had an easy final round victory, cruising down the strip at 6.236 seconds, 168.95 mph. James Stevens, Gothenburg, Neb., had mechanical issues prior to the Top Alcohol Dragster final round and could not make the run.
The Top Alcohol Funny Car final round came down to the wire. Williams, Glenwood, Iowa, came out of the gate strong, recording his quickest pass of the weekend, 5.660 seconds, 254.09 mph to hold off a hard charging Doug Gordon of Paso Robles, Calif., for the holeshot victory. Gordon runner upped at 5.635 seconds, 261.32 mph.
GAINESVILLE TAKES TEAM TITLE; FIVE HEADING TO SUMMIT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
ROCKINGHAM, NC – Gainesville Raceway won the NHRA Southeast Division Summit Racing Series Team 
Championship over Bristol Dragway and Atlanta Dragway, while Brendan George led the list of individual winners at the Southeast Division Summit Finals at Rockingham Dragway.
The team from Gainesville racked up 41 points to hold off Bristol Dragway, with 36 points, and Atlanta Dragway, who scored 30 points. Rockingham Dragway and Music City Raceway rounded out the top five finishing fourth and fifth with 26 and 22 respectively.
Joining George with individual trophies and advancing on to the NHRA Summit National Championship were Tim Griffith, Van Greer and Dennis Stewart who each won their eliminator. Via a special wild card drawing held early this year, Troy Stafford will also move on to the nationals in Pomona, Calif., by winning the division’s Summit Race of Champions event in Pro ET.
AUTO CLUB FAMOSO WINS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP AT NHRA PACIFIC DIVISION SUMMIT RACING SERIES CHAMPIONSHIPS
LAS VEGAS – Auto Club Famoso Raceway captured the team championship while the husband and wife team of 
C.W. and Sacha Hoefer each grabbed wins at this weekend’s NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Series Championships. The Hoefers will be joined by Katelyn Whynaught, Ryan Mangus, and Rick Newport in advancing to the NHRA Summit National Championship at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in November.
Sunday’s Summit Showdown final round produced three of the four winners from California. Sacha Hoefer of Calimesa, booked her trip to Pomona by outlasting Tim Arnswalf of Indio, Calif., in the Sportsman final round. Hoefer recorded a victory pass of 12.182 seconds, 103.57 mph.
Funny Car Champions Force, Hagan, Hight and Beckman Headline Pre-Stage FanFest on Oct. 12
ENNIS, TX – Four of the biggest names in recent NHRA Mello Yello Funny Car championship history will highlight 
the drivers participating in the free Pre-Stage FanFest on Thursday, October 12, in downtown Ennis. 16-time Funny Car champion John Force will be joined by two-time champion Matt Hagan as well as 2009 champion Robert Hight and 2012 champion Jack Beckman. The quartet of Funny Car drivers who are all vying for the 2017 Mello Yello NHRA championship will be joined by Arlington-based Top Fuel racer and U.S. Nationals runner-up Kebin Kinsley, Pro Stock stand out Shane Tucker, Top Fuel racer Shawn Reed and Top Alcohol Dragster racer and future NHRA Mello Yello Series star Ashley Sanford.
“This event is a great way to kick-off the AAA Texas FallNationals and the City of Ennis has been a great partner,” said Texas Motorplex General Manager Andy Carter. “We will have race cars on display including Tony Schumacher’s US Army Top Fuel dragster plus food and music for fans. The highlight will be the driver autograph session and we are excited to have some of the biggest names in Funny Car from John Force to Matt Hagan to Robert Hight to Jack Beckman signing for our fans.”
VINCENT AND WUDARCZYK SCORE WINS AT MIDWEST NATIONALS
MADISON, IL – Shaun Vincent and Tyler Wudarczyk rolled into the winner’s circle Sunday evening and celebrated 
with their teams, as the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series concluded at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill.
Vincent of Omaha, Neb., took the easy win light running 8.747 seconds, 119.70 mph; local driver David Billingsley of Decatur left the starting a little too soon and triggered the red light.
Wudarczyk, Wakarusa, Kan., nearly doubled up Sunday. In the Super Stock final round, the Kansas runner fell short to Slate Cummings of Hammond, La. Cummings hit a perfect light at 0.000 seconds (reaction time), then ran 9.339 seconds, 130.82 mph for the win. Wudarczyk rebounded in the Stock Eliminator final round, coming from behind to upend Matt Lund of Bettendorf, Iowa. Wudarczyk recorded a victory pass of 10.395 seconds, 110.42 mph; Lund 10.290 seconds, 127.62 mph.
NHRA PACIFIC DIVISION SUMMIT SERIES FINALS HEADS TO THE STRIP
LAS VEGAS – The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the 2017 NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Series Finals, October 6-8.
Top drivers from NHRA Member Tracks across the Pacific Division will compete in five classes for individual and team honors. Classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Motorcycle and High School. The event will also feature the Summit Super Showdown, a race within a race where the top points earning drivers from each track square off in head-to-head competition. Summit Super Showdown winners in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle categories will advance to the Summit Series National Championship against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November.
NHRA SOUTH CENTRAL DIVISION READY TO RUMBLE AT THUNDER IN THE HEARTLAND
LEXINGTON, OK – Thunder Valley Raceway Park will host Thunder in the Heartland, the final event for the NHRA South Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, on October 6-8.
The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Series earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s SDPC Top Sportsman Series, SDPC Top Dragster Series and NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series will run in conjunction with the event along with Jet Dragster Exhibitions.
ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY TO HOST NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION SUMMIT RACING SERIES FINALS
ROCKINGHAM, NC – The top bracket racers in NHRA’s Southeast division will be on hand at Rockingham Dragway, October 6-8, for the 2017 NHRA Summit Racing Series Southeast Division Finals. Racers in five categories from across the region will compete for individual and team honors and a share of the cash and contingency purse. Racing classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Pro Motorcycle and High School.
Individual champions from the Summit Racing Series will advance to the Summit National Championship at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will compete against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions for national championships and a winner-take-all $5,000 payday. All racers who run in Pomona will receive an additional $3,000.
CUMPTON SCORES AGAIN; HART TAKES TOP DRAGSTER
WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – Cody Cumpton raced to this second win of the weekend and was joined by Utah racer 
Shawn Hart in the winner’s circle for the second half of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Double Header at Rocky Mountain Raceways.
Cumpton, Vancouver, Wash., marched through the Sportsman Motorcycle class again today taking home anther NHRA Wally trophy. Cumpton covered the quarter mile in 9.080 seconds at 135.25 mph for the win over West Jordan, Utah, racer Jeff Durfey who crossed the line in 9.720, 128.93. Cumpton beat out Eric Jaquith on Friday for this first win of the event.
Hart, Layton, Utah, snagged a win for the local contingent as he downed William Carnell, Murray, Utah, in Top Dragster. Hart qualified No. 1 then went 7.478, 177.13 for the final round win.
WICHITA FALLS TAKES TEAM TITLE; HOWARD REPEATS
ENNIS, TX – The team from Wichita Falls Raceway took home the Team Championship and Jake Howard defended his win from last year at Texas Motorplex for the NHRA Summit Racing Series South Central Division finals.
Wichita Falls racked up 74 points led by Howard and Eric Sandlin who took home wins in Sportsman and Super Pro respectively. Thunder Valley Raceway Park followed in second at 71 and Royal Purple Raceway in third at 61. Racers from 12 tracks in the South Central Division competed at the event.
Defending Sportsman champion Howard, from Lavon, Texas, took the win again this year with a holeshot advantage in his ’70 GTO and a time of 7.577 seconds at 86.81 mph against Amanda Wolter from Mustang, Okla., running 8.367, 83.28
