NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION COMES TO ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY

ROCKINGHAM, NC – Rockingham Dragway to host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division on Div2_Southeast-4cOctober 28-30. The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster Series will be run in conjunction with the event along with the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series featuring the Top Fuel and Pro Fuel Harleys.

THOMPSON AND HALL WIN AT HOME

ENNIS, TX – Fans were in celebration as multiple home state winners were crowned in the action packed AAA Texas NHRA Div 4 South CentralNHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex. Champions were recognized in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, as well as Comp Eliminator, Stock, Super Comp and the rest of the classes that encompass the nationwide series.

In Top Alcohol Dragster, Bradley Thompson scored his first win in just his second start, getting the victory on Shawn Cowie’s final-round red-light. Thompson’s debut came at this event last year, where he failed to qualify. Bradley, a local Texan hailing from Vernon, registered a victory pass of 5.299 seconds, 268.17 mph. Cowie, Surrey, B.C., hit a runner-up pass of 5.666 seconds, 229.31 mph.

ACKERMAN AND EWING WIN AT SILVER DOLLAR

REYNOLDS, GA – Al Ackerman raced to the win in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Silver Dollar Raceway Div2_Southeast-4cover the weekend. With just a handful of events left to finish the season, the Lucas Oil National and Divisional Championship races have heated up.

In the final round of Comp Eliminator it was Ackerman, Saddle Brook N.J., who is coming off a win at the national event in Reading, Pa., versus Van Puckett, Monroe, Ga., who sits atop the Southeast division point standings were even at the start, but Ackerman had the power to finish stronger for the win with a pass of 7.910 seconds at 160.77 miles per hour in his dragster. Puckett ran a pass of 8.512 seconds at 158.41 miles per hour for a runner-up finish. Ackerman is in fourth place for the Northeast division point standings.

SOUTHEAST DIVISION HEADS TO SILVER DOLLAR RACEWAY

The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster Series will also be in competition.

Gates at Silver Dollar Raceway open at 8 a.m. each day. Hickory Enclosed Top Dragster & Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman qualifies Friday at 2 pm. Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will make two additional qualifying hits at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

BRISTOL TAKES TEAM TITLE; FIVE HEADING TO SUMMIT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

COMMERCE, GA – Bristol Dragway won the NHRA Southeast Division Summit Racing Series Team Championship Summit Racing seriesover Gainesville Raceway and Montgomery Motorsports Park while Timmy Smith led the list of individual winners at the Southeast Division Summit Finals at Atlanta Dragway.

The team from Bristol Dragway racked up 43 points to hold off Gainesville Raceway, with 34 points, and Montgomery Motorsports Park, who scored 30 points. Music City Dragway and Silver Dollar Raceway rounded out the top five finishing fourth and fifth with 28 and 24 respectively.

Joining Smith with individual trophies and advancing on to the NHRA Summit National Championship were Van Greer, Seth Bevins and Candy Hagadorn who each won their eliminator on Sunday. Via a special wild card drawing held early this year, Brandon Bailey will also move on to the nationals in Pomona, Calif., by winning the division’s Summit Race of Champions event in Pro ET.

WILD HORSE PASS TAKES TEAM TITLE; FIVE EARN SPOTS IN SUMMIT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

LAS VEGAS – Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park captured the team championship while Russ Stryker, Howard Summit Racing seriesDevore, Steven Umberger and Freddie Camarena took home the individual championship at this weekend’s NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Series Finals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Wild Horse Pass (Phoenix) gathered up 66 points to hold off Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway (Fontana, Calif.) and the home track of Las Vegas who tied for second at 64 points each.

Stryker, Truxton, Ariz., worked his way through the field in Super Pro and ran 8.167 seconds at 162.72 mph in his final round victory over Sean Eling, Rohnert Park, Calif., who clocked in at 10.529 seconds, 127.40 mph.

MASSEY AND BOHL WINNERS IN THUNDER VALLEY

LEXINGTON, OK – Winners were crowned yesterday for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Thunder in the NHRA Div 4 South CentralHeartland at Thunder Valley Raceway Park as each champion took home their share of the event purse and contingency postings along with bragging rights and the champion’s trophy.

A Texas-Oklahoma showdown was on full display as Spencer Massey, Fort Worth, Texas, and Monroe Guest, Bixby, Okla., took to the starting line in the Alcohol Dragster final round. Massey made Texas proud; running a victory pass of 5.607 seconds, 256.26 mph to easily beat Guest who ran 10.462 seconds, 91.86 mph with issues right off the start.

In the Top Alcohol Funny Car final round, Andy Bohl, Racine, Wis., ran 5.586 seconds, 263.54 mph to soundly defeat Scott McVey, Ile Des Chenes, Manit., who suffered mechanical issues and could only watch as Bohl disappeared down track.

NHRA PACIFIC DIVISION SUMMIT SERIES FINALS HEADS TO THE STRIP

LAS VEGAS – The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the 2016 NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Summit Racing seriesSeries Finals, October 7-9. Top drivers from NHRA Member Tracks across the Pacific Division will compete in five classes for individual and team honors. Classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Motorcycle and High School. The event will also feature the Summit Super Showdown, a race within a race where the top points earning drivers from each track square off in head-to-head competition. Summit Super Showdown winners in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle categories will advance to the Summit Series National Championship against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November.

More than 500 participants will compete for cash awards of more than $30,000. Competitors in the High School class will earn trophies and savings bonds. Drivers who advance to the Summit Series National Championship in Pomona will race for a purse of more than $100,000.

Winners Crowned In Mohnton, Biondo Gains 50th National Victory

Mohnton, PA – Multiple winners were recognized today as the NHRA Keystone Nationals concluded at Maple Grove NHRA Division 1Raceway after rain delays over the weekend. Winners were recognized in Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Stock, Super Comp and the rest of the classes that encompass the nationwide series.

In the Top Alcohol Dragster final round the audience witnessed Jackie Fricke, Flemington, N.J., chase down Chris Demke, Sunland, Calif., for the winning light. Fricke registered a victory pass of 5.263 seconds, 278.92 mph to Demke’s 8.594 seconds, 97.72 mph. This is Fricke’s first National event Wally trophy in her second final round appearance.

Andy Bohl, Racine, Wis., was able to outlast Sean Bellemeur of Placentia, Calif., in the Top Alcohol Funny Car finale. Bohl made a victory pass of 5.579, 267.06 besting Bellemeur’s 5.514, 268.60.

ATLANTA DRAGWAY TO HOST NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION SUMMIT RACING SERIES FINALS

COMMERCE, GA – The top bracket racers in NHRA’s Southeast division will be on hand at Atlanta Dragway, Summit Racing seriesOctober 7-9, for the 2016 NHRA Summit Racing Series Southeast Division Finals. Racers in five categories from across the region will compete for individual and team honors and a share of the cash and contingency purse. Racing classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Pro Motorcycle and High School.

Individual champions from the Summit Racing Series will advance to the national championship at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will compete against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions for national titles and a winner-take-all $5,000 payday. Racers who run in Pomona will receive an additional $3,000.
