HOT ROD Power Tour Returning to Memphis in 2015
MIR will be the third stop on the seven-city, seven-day tour
MILLINGTON, TN – The legendary HOT ROD Power Tour will return to Memphis, Tennessee in 2015 and they recently announced a stop at 
Memphis International Raceway (MIR) on Tuesday, June 9. The seven-day, seven-city journey travels more than 1,000 miles from Madison, Wisconsin, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana from June 6 – 12, 2015 and MIR will be the third stop on the tour.
MIR teamed up with the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau to host the annual summer trek of small town America. More than 5,800 participants and upward of 90,000 spectators are expected to celebrate in the 2015 HOT ROD Power Tour. The tour brings together hot rods, street rods, custom trucks, muscle cars, and performance machines from around the world.
“The return of the HOT ROD Power Tour is always a huge win for Memphis,” said Malvin Gipson, Director of the Memphis Sports Council. “When you have one of the world’s largest tours of iconic cars stopping in an iconic city like Memphis, you’re sure to get an enormous turnout of car enthusiasts from around the region.”
Local Racer Donn Gingrich to Race against Doc from ‘Street Outlaws’
MILLINGTON, TN – Monza and Doc from the hit Discovery Channel TV show Street Outlaws will be at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) 
this Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. While Monza will be in attendance to meet with the fans, local racer, Donn Gingrich, will replace him in the head-to-head challenge on the drag strip against Doc. The racers will go against each other in a best two out of three challenge down the 1/8-mile at MIR and will give you a show you won’t want to miss.
Monza was recently injured in an off-track incident and Gingrich has stepped up to take on the challenge Friday night. The heads-up drag racer has 20+ years making passes on drag strips around the country and considers MIR his “hometown” track. He will drive a 1955 Monster motored Chevy against Doc in “Street Beast”.
Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMP Cams: Double Header Race Results
MILLINGTON, TN – The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams had a double header weekend at Memphis International Raceway as drivers battled for class victories on Saturday and Sunday. Also, a special Stock/ Super Stock Combo race was added to the schedule to provide additional excitement for the sportsman racers.
Cliff Hubbard from Millington, Tenn. swept the weekend in the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class and, in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragster class, Devin Johnson took the win on Saturday and followed it up by winning the Second Chance Shootout on Sunday. Rusty Ashmore from Southhaven, Miss. and Cody Graham came out the big winners over the weekend as Ashmore took over the point lead in Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro class and Graham jumped four spots to lead the B&B Towing Footbrake class.
Local Racers Win Big at IHRA Summit Racing Pro-Am Tour
MILLINGTON, TN – It was a big race weekend at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) as the IHRA Summit Racing Series hosted 
the Division 4 Pro-Am Tour. Local racers as well as racers from across the county came to MIR to compete in 1/4-mile and 1/8-mile classes. MIR is one of more than 100 IHRA member tracks in seven divisions that participate in these Sportsman competitions.
The competition is populated by Sportsman competitors who are the backbone of grassroots drag racing. By the end of the weekend, 16 champions would be determined with six of them calling MIR their “hometown” track.
Mega MOPAR Action Series Rounds out the Weekend of Activities at MIR
MILLINGTON, TN – The second annual Mega MOPAR Action Series event at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) was filled with 
power, performance and gorgeous cars and trucks. The event offered something for everyone with a car show, swap meet, NASA Autocross and racing action on the historic drag strip. MIR brought together those with a passion for MOPAR – racers and fans alike.
MOPAR enthusiasts came out bright and early Sunday morning to put their favorite manufacturer’s vehicles on display. Car and truck show participates had an opportunity to take home awards in over 15 different categories and compete for the coveted Best in Show award. Murray Cassoutt from St. Mary, Mo. with his 1967 Dart Convertible walked away the big winner with the A Body Stock award and Best in Show.
A Look at Fun Ford Weekend at Memphis International Raceway
MILLINGTON, TN – Ford enthusiasts spent Saturday at Memphis International Raceway celebrating their favorite manufacturer. 
The day included all things Ford with a car show, swap meet, on-track drag racing, autocross and a Ford Mustang parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary. The day was capped off with a live performance from Nashville singer/songwriter Jordan Allena.
The Ford exclusive car show was one of the largest in the area with over 20 different class winners. On-track, racers competed for bragging rights in the MustangGuys.com Fastest 5.0 Shootout presented by S&W Race Cars, Street Ford, Fast Ford Challenge and the Quick Ford Challenge. Kids also got in on the action as they took part in the famous Revell Make ‘N Take and built their very own 1936 Ford Coupe.
Rising Star Jordan Allena Performing a Concert at Memphis International Raceway on Manufacturer’s Weekend
MILLINGTON, TN – Country music singer/songwriter Jordan Allena will rev up Ford Fun Weekend and the Mega MOPAR Action 
Series when she takes the stage Saturday, June 7 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) to celebrate manufacturer’s weekend.
The rising star was born in Memphis, Tenn. and currently resides in Nashville where she has released such hits as “I’ll be Your Whiskey” and “Tomboy” from her self-titled EP, finding airplay on major radio stations across the country. Jordan has performed with some of today’s hottest acts: Colt Ford, Parmalee, Chris Cagle, Keith Anderson, Josh Thompson and will open up for Florida Georgia Line at the Delta Country Jam on May 23. She has been invited to perform for the ACM Awards Experience two years in a row and is currently in production on her second album.
Manufacturers Weekend Coming to Memphis International Raceway on June 7 and 8
MILLINGTON, TN – The events Ford and MOPAR lovers have been anxiously awaiting for will return to Memphis International Raceway (MIR) on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. Manufacturer’s weekend kicks off on Saturday, June 7 with Fun Ford Weekend followed by Mega MOPAR Action Series on Sunday, June 8. It’s the only place you will find intense drag racing, huge car shows, swap meets, vendor midway, autocross, and all day action for two full days.
The fun kicks off Friday evening, June 7 with Test N Tune action and on Saturday, June 8 there’s a full day of events lined-up for Fun Ford Weekend. The gates open at 8:00 a.m. and will feature a swap meet, car corral, vendor midway, and drag racing that includes: Fast Ford Challenge, Quick Ford Challenge, Street Ford, True Street, Tuff Truck and MUSTANGGUYS.com Trophy Class. Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMP Cams: Results Race 5
MILLINGTON, TN – The racing excitement heated up over the weekend as the fifth race of the 2014 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams hit Memphis International Raceway (MIR). The races produced another first time winner, a sweep of the B&B Towing Footbrake and R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street classes and some gains in the point standings.
Leigh Hubbard, sister of IHRA Seven-Time World Champion in Top Fuel, Clay Millican, picked up her first career event win in the Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro and Todd Berry swept the B&B Towing Footbrake and R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street Saturday night.
The points battle is heating up as Leigh Hubbard advanced 12 spots to fourth and Mark Meadows moved up one spot to third in the Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro class. Drew Mann Tracey made some big gains in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters as he closed the gap from 54 to 12 points and Sophie Newberry jumped from ninth to sixth in the point standings.
Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMP Cams: Results Race 4
MILLINGTON, TN – The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by: COMP Cams returned to Memphis International Raceway (MIR) over the weekend for the first time in over a month. The weather was perfect and the action on the drag strip was nonstop.
The R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters produced a first time winner, Drew Mann Tracey out of the Motorvation Motorsports camp, and the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street in the D.O.T. saw David Elam from Covington, Tenn. pull out his second victory of the season with a win.
“There was some great racing this weekend,” stated Tyler Crossnoe, MIR Drag Strip manager. “We saw a lot of familiar faces and also had a first time winner in the Jr. Dragsters. The weather cooperated with us and it was great to get the COMP Cams Series back out on the drag strip.”
