MIR adds two partners to team, Comfort Inn and Suites, Parkway Smokers Cafe come on board in time for Super Chevy Show
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is welcoming two new partners aboard just in time for
the April 10-12 Super Chevy Show.
The Comfort Inn and Suites of Atoka along with the Exxon Parkway Smokers Café and Catering have joined forces with the track for the next three years and already planning on making an impact on one of MIR’s biggest events of the year.
“Hotels in Millington are filling up quickly, so we’re proud to have another Preferred Hotel that’s close to the track that we can direct our fans to,” said Pam Kendrick, VP and GM of Memphis International Raceway. “We’re happy to have Sam Patel and his staff aboard for Super Chevy weekend and beyond.”
MIR Brings Lofton and Howe Aboard as New Sales Team
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is pleased to announce the addition of Tony Lofton and
Jessica Howe as the facility’s new sales team.
“There are a lot of exciting things going on here at Memphis International Raceway and Tony and Jessica are a big part of that equation,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “They are going to be our boots on the ground in the Mid-South business community.
“I’m confident they will strengthen the partnerships we have and show new partners the many advantages of a relationship with this track.”
Advance Tickets for Super Chevy Show at Memphis International Raceway Now On Sale
MILLINGTON, TN – Advance tickets for the April 10-12 Super Chevy Show presented by Chevrolet Performance at
Memphis International Raceway (MIR) are now on sale at RaceMIR.com.
This year’s ticket packages include a never before offered single ticket suite experience for the show.
“The Super Chevy Show brings some of the most passionate automotive fans from at least a dozen different states,” said VP and GM of MIR, Pam Kendrick. “We think that kind of passion deserves a premium seating experience, no matter if you are with a party of 20 or attending by yourself.”
Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMPCams Battles Resume at Memphis International Raceway
MILLINGTON, TN – With the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMPCams returning from its winter
break on Saturday, the racers in those classes resume their chase for the 2015 Memphis International Raceway (MIR) track championship.
Two events are already in the books and Rusty Ashmore and Leigh Hubbard each have a win in Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro. Ashmore has the class lead with 142 points with Hubbard second, 20 points behind and Shane Stout one point behind Hubbard.
The competition in the B&B Towing Footbrake class is just as close with John Castellaw III holding a 20 point lead on Caffey Broadus. Kenny Bomar is in third, 21 points behind the leader.
Memphis International Raceway and iHeartMedia Extend Their Partnership Through 2017
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) announced today a three-year (2015 – 2017)
sponsorship renewal agreement with iHeartMedia, Inc. iHeartMedia, formerly known as Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, has the largest reach of any radio and television outlet in America with 245 million listeners. Their diverse station line-up in the Memphis area includes Rock 103, V101, 101.9 KISS FM, K97.1, News Radio 600 WREC, WDIA and Hallelujah 95.7 FM.
The continuation of the partnership allows MIR to reach a variety of race fans across multiple platforms. MIR looks to expand their racer and fan base utilizing the partnership to help spread the message and help move racing off of the streets and onto the race track. The relationship will also enable MIR to help promote their events and bring awareness to the new dirt track scheduled to open over the summer.
MIR Announces Special Sunday Funday Race For This Weekend
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway is welcoming the return of warmer weather and spring with a
special Sunday Funday event at its historic drag strip on Sunday, March 15.
The event will follow the track’s standard Test N Tune format (racing from 1:30 to 6 p.m.) with one important exception, the inclusion of a $500 winner-take-all Gambler’s Race.
“All the racers around are as excited to get started as we are,” said Drag Strip Manager of Operations Paul Cartwright. “The forecast for Sunday is looking favorable and it would be a shame to waste a nice day and not be racing. The Gambler’s Race is a fun way to drum up some excitement and start the season on a fun note.”
Cold weather postpones racing at MIR for third weekend
MILLINGTON, TN – The continued rash of cold weather has pushed the start of Memphis International Raceway’s
(MIR) season for a third time. The forecast temperatures hovering around the freezing mark combined with the possibility of more rain during the weekend has led MIR to call off Saturday’s Test N Tune session and Sunday’s Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams race.
“We’re as eager as everyone else to get the season going,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “But with all the cold and the ice we’ve gotten recently our crew hasn’t been able to prepare the track for opening. We want to start the season on a positive note and making sure the facility is ready for the racers, fans and team is our No. 1 priority.
Memphis International Raceway Welcomes 2nd Hand Power Speed Shop Back As Class Sponsor
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) and 2nd Hand Power Speed Shop announce the
continuation of their partnership during the 2015 season. 2nd Hand Power will up its level of partnership by becoming the class sponsor for all Stock/Super Stock events held during the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams in 2015.
“2nd Hand Power has been a supporter of MIR and our sportsman racing program since its inception. Memphis International Raceway Hires Craig Wack as Director of Public Relations & Marketing
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is pleased to announce the recent hire of Craig Wack,
who will join the MIR team as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
Craig has more than a decade of experience in the motorsports world and firsthand knowledge of MIR as he worked as a motorsports writer for the Commercial Appeal in Memphis and covered events over the course of 10 years. In addition, he was a Public Relations Specialist for Geiger Media Global, serving clients in the NHRA and the AMA SuperCross series. Most recently, Craig worked at Academy Sports + Outdoors as an E-Commerce Content Coordinator.
“Craig is a great addition to the MIR team,” stated Pam Kendrick, VP & GM of Memphis International Raceway. “He’s a former Memphian and is bringing with him some impressive credentials that will be an asset to MIR and the growth of our race track. We’re looking forward to Craig joining us and welcome him to MIR.”
Memphis International Raceway Reschedules Opening Weekend
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) announced Tuesday the postponement of opening
weekend for the second straight week due to the current and forecast weather conditions.
“This second postponement is a disappointment to the entire team as they have worked all winter to make modifications, changes and build excitement for the 2015 season,” said Paul Cartwright, MIR Director of Operations. “With the amount of ice on the track and the anticipated temperatures and additional precipitation, this is the best decision for the racers and fans.”
