IHRA’s Pro-Am Racers Head to MIR
Wildcard race to draw competitors from several divisions
MILLINGTON, TN – The IHRA’s Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour Presented By AMSOIL weekend is just a
few days away at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).
Two complete Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour Presented By AMSOIL events will be contested April 30-May 3 at the IHRA Division 4 track. Along with Pro-Am will be a Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams race that will be run Saturday evening.
“This could be some of the most intense bracket racing we’ll see all year,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “This is a Wildcard Race, so points earned here will go back to whichever division drivers come from. With our central location, we’re expecting to see some of the best racers from not just our area but the Midwest, East and Deep South as well.
New Car Pays Off for Reed
Stock/SuperStock driver sweeps both races at MIR
MILLINGTON, TN – While most people try their best to maintain that new car smell, Mitch Reed would be tickled if
he’s able keep his new car performance going as long as possible.
Reed won both ends of the 2nd Hand Power Stock/SS combo doubleheader at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) on Saturday making him the only driver to double up in the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams.
“It’s hard to believe this is the first time brought this car out,” Reed said after winning his second race of the day. “I hope it keep running like this because I’ve got a race in Bowling Green coming up.”
Big Points on Line at MIR Doubleheader Two races mean twice the opportunity; Stock/SS Combo also running twice
MILLINGTON, TN – The points battles in the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams are staying
tight and could get really shaken up on Saturday, April 25 when racers will get an opportunity to race in two events on the same day at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).
The snow and ice that lingered through the month of March set up this scheduled doubleheader Saturday. The day’s racing also includes the first time the 2nd Hand Power Stock/SuperStock cars will get their first combo races this calendar year.
Gates will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday with time trials starting at noon. After the completion of the first race, drivers will get one time trail run before the start of the second race (which should being at approximately 5 p.m.). Crew admission will be $20 for the doubleheader.

MILLINGTON, TN – Like many racing fans in the Mid-South, Brantley Gaither is eagerly waiting the day
construction is completed on the dirt track at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).
“I’m real excited about the dirt track coming back,” Gaither said. “I used to do a little racing back in the late 90s and so it’s definitely more my thing.”
As the general manager of FRS Powersports, Gaither also knows what his new partnership with MIR can do to broaden his customer base.
MIR doubles Pro Mod field at Super Chevy Show
Strong entry numbers prompt field growing from eight to 16 cars
MILLINGTON, TN – The field of the U.S. Southern Shootout at this week’s Super Chevy Show has grown so strong
that officials at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) had to find a way to make it better.
The entry list for Pro Mod race that is part of the event’s Pro Show has swelled to 22 high-caliber cars with a scheduled eliminations bracket set for just eight cars.
The Pro Mod eliminations field at this year’s Super Chevy Show has been expanded from eight to 16 cars.

“We’ve had events where we’ve run out of autograph cards,” said Al Zakaukus driver of Hot Blade. “We’ve had to start signing T-Shirts, foreheads and pieces of wood for the fans. People just get mesmerized.”
Pro Judging Sets Super Chevy Show Apart
Nearly 200 awards will be handed out during weekend event at MIR
MILLINGTON, TN – Part of what makes the Super Chevy Show at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) such a
popular event with car enthusiasts from a dozen different states, is the opportunity to have their loving restored hot rod evaluated by a panel of judges certified by the International Show Car Association.
This weekend’s Super Chevy Show will have three judges working the car show and handing out nearly 200 awards across several classes. It’s all in a weekend’s work for judge Ron Fetter.
Classic cars from all eras will take part in this year’s Super Chevy Show at Memphis International Raceway.

MILLINGTON, TN – Time to buy discounted advance tickets for this weekend’s Super Chevy Show at Memphis
International Raceway (MIR) is running out.
Fans have until Friday morning to save between $3 and $25 on spectator tickets, race entries, swap meet spots, car show entries, RV spots and passes for the VIP Suite Experience on Saturday.
A few discounted tickets for the VIP Suite Experience are available. It’s the first time that MIR has offered suite access on an individual basis. By buying in advance, fans get suite access on Saturday, VIP Parking, food and non-alcoholic beverages for only $75. That ticket goes up to $100 at the gate.
Consistency wins day for Rogers Victory in MIR’s Summit Bracket Racing Series not easy to get
MILLINGTON, TN – Daniel Rogers had a feeling it was going to be a good night right from the start of time trials.

A lot of the time he’s tweaking the index on his truck throughout a race, on Saturday night, Rogers’ car was dialed-in from the start and he rode that consistency all the way to a victory over Josh James.
“This place always has stout competition,” Rogers said. “It’s a big tire truck so it’s pretty much, dead-on. That puts everything on me. It has been on the money all night.”
Super Chevy Show’s home of family fun Revell model building area offers free project for kids of all ages
MILLINGTON, TN – The April 10-12 Super Chevy Show at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) annually appeals
to automotive fans of all ages, but it always sets an area aside for a fun activity for kids.
The Revell Make ‘n Take model building area will give youngsters a chance to put together a genuine Revell snap together model at no additional cost.
“This is geared for the kids, but it becomes a fun activity the whole family does together,” said Pam Kendrick VP and GM of Memphis International Raceway. “It gives everyone a chance to sit down, get out of the sun and do a fun project together. When they’re done they get to take finished model home with them as a souvenir of their visit to the Super Chevy Show.”
