JOSH HART NOMINATED BY DRAG ILLUSTRATED AS BREAKOUT RACER OF 2021
OCALA, FL – Top Fuel racer Josh Hart who took the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series by storm in 2021 has been nominated by
Drag Illustrated magazine in the Breakout Racer of the Year category. Hart began his rookie season with an attention-grabbing win at the historic NHRA Gatornationals in his debut Top Fuel national event. The racer from Ocala, Florida, backed up that impressive performance with another win at the NHRA Carolina Nationals during the NHRA Countdown playoffs. Hart’s R+L Carriers TechNet Top Fuel dragster was one of the most consistent and high performing teams throughout the season reaching at least the semifinals in six out of thirteen races.
“I want to thank Wes Buck and his editorial staff for this nomination as part of the first ever Drag Illustrated Awards,” said Hart. “We had a great season last year running a partial schedule so to be recognized as a Breakout Racer is a big honor. Drag racing has several drivers like myself who are getting their careers started so this nomination means a lot. We are full speed ahead in 2022 with our eyes on racing for more race wins and the Top Fuel world championship.”
Along with the Breakout Racer of the Year, Drag Illustrated will reveal the winners in 14 other categories, including Racer of the Year and Track of the Year during the DI Awards show streamed live on Thursday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. Central on the Drag Illustrated Facebook and YouTube pages. The winners will also be featured in the new Racer of the Year Issue launching in early February.
Ron Douglas Made Partner in Josh Hart Racing
OCALA, FL – Josh Hart, owner of Josh Hart Racing, today announced crew chief Ron Douglas will be elevated to partner in the Ocala-based
NHRA professional team. Hart, a two-time Top Fuel national event winner and front-runner for 2021 Rookie of the Year, made the announcement prior to the Las Vegas Nationals. Douglas will continue to operate as the crew chief for Hart and the TechNet R+ L Carriers Top Fuel dragster into the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series and beyond.
“Ron has proven himself to be a great crew chief and more importantly to be a great man of character,” said Hart. “We share the same demeanor and work ethic. I am a loyal person and so is Ron. We want to build this race team for a long, successful future. I can’t think of a better person to build it with than a guy that has been there from the start.”
During his tenure with Josh Hart Racing Douglas has guided the team to a round win record of 17-9 with two wins, including the first Top Fuel race the pair worked together, the historic NHRA Gatornationals. They have also combined for four additional semifinal finishes in just eleven races this season. Hart is considered one the favorites for 2021 NHRA Rookie of the Year, an honor Douglas had a hand in helping NHRA superstar Ashley Force Hood earn in 2007 as her crew chief.
