Chris Armstrong Brings Passion and Perspective to Josh Hart Operation

OCALA, FL – As Josh Hart’s rookie season ended in 2021 the rookie driver invited a long-time business associate and friend to the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Chris Armstrong, a fellow Ocala, Florida resident, was familiar with Hart’s Burnyzz Speed Shop and satellite businesses but had not seen him in action at an NHRA national event. After a weekend at the track Armstrong’s previous experience and memories of a life in motorsports were rekindled and he began to talk with Hart how he could assist the young team owner in expanding his Top Fuel racing operation.

“My brother and I used to own a circle track. We built it up and had four late model teams,” said Armstrong. “I have always had a passion for racing competition. We sold the facility and my life went in a different direction. I was involved with building the new Burnyzz Speed Shop facility and we had been friends for years. He invited me to the Las Vegas race in 2021 and it literally captured me. I am 53 years old, and I can’t just go play football, or softball anymore, But I am still a very competitive person. So I fell in love with that side of this business and sport. That’s what drew me in, it was the competitive  nature of this sport, and all these teams,  and also my respect for Josh and who he is as a man, a father, and a competitor.”

HART CLOSES SEASON WITH AUTO CLUB FINALS SEMIFINAL FINISH

POMONA, CA – Josh Hart and the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster raced to a semifinal finish at the 57th Auto Club Finals today and solidified their Top Ten position in one of the toughest Top Fuel fields in the modern era. Hart, from Ocala, Florida, finished his first full season as the No. 7 Top Fuel driver in the world. Through two days of qualifying Hart and his Ron Douglas tuned Top Fuel dragster rolled off the trailer on Friday with the second quickest pass of the first session. Through three more sessions Hart made two more solid runs on Saturday running 3.714 and 3.712 seconds to head into race day as the No. 11 qualifier. It was not the ideal position, but Hart was confident his R+L Carriers team would step up on race day.

In the opening round against Countdown contender Doug Kalitta Hart was able to get the jump off the starting line and the 2021 Rookie of the Year finalist never trailed in the drag race. It was not a perfect run, but Hart’s 3.801 second run was enough to get the first win light of the day.

In the quarterfinals Hart raced third generation drag racer Krista Baldwin. Hart’s 11,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster picked up on the performance side and turned on another win light with a 3.746 second at 314.75 mph pass. At the top end the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster was moving around but Hart kept it under control to advance to another semifinal.

AUTO CLUB FINALS CHANCE FOR HART TO FINISH STRONG

OCALA, FL – In his first full season competing at the highest levels of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series second year Top Fuel team owner and driver Josh Hart had his hands full. After campaigning the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster at 21 events leading up to the season finale at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona Hart will be looking to build some momentum heading into the off-season. This season has tested the Florida-based entrepreneur and owner of Burnyzz Speed Shop, but for the driver who believes “Anything’s Possible” closing the season with a win is number one on his to-do list.

“I spent a few days at the SEMA show and had a chance to talk with the media about how our season has gone. We experienced a lot of positives and negatives, but I am only going to carry the positives with me into the off-season and we are going to fix some of the issues we had this year,” said Hart, a two-time Top Fuel national event winner. “We had a breakout rookie season on a partial schedule. This year we invested over the off-season, and I think we thought we could pick up right where we left off. That wasn’t the case, and we know what we need to do moving forward.”

Hart raced to two final rounds this season including a runner-up at the Midwest Nationals in St. Louis during the Countdown. Currently sitting seventh in the Top Fuel point standings Hart and the R+L Carriers team have a strong chance of finishing in the top five and mathematically a top three finish is not out of reach for the driver who won the first Top Fuel race he ever entered, the 2021 NHRA Gatornationals.

JOSH HART DROPS CLOSE VEGAS RACE

LAS VEGAS, NV – Closing out his first full season on the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Josh Hart and the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster are holding their own in the top ten working to race their way into the top five. The toughest and closest Top Fuel battle is underway and Hart, who raced to the final round at the St Louis Midwest Nationals, was looking to close the gap at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway today. The second-year driver, who raced just a partial schedule in 2021, was looking for his first round win at the Nevada Nationals. After two days of qualifying Hart entered race day as the No. 10 qualifier.

In the opening round Hart drew four-time and reigning Top Fuel champion Steve Torrence. The two team owners and drivers have faced each other four previous times with Hart securing a win just once in those matchups. Prior to their first round race the tandem had to wait nearly 20 minutes for the NHRA Safety Safari to clean up a sizable oil down in Hart’s lane following Leah Pruett’s pass. Once the drivers were given the signal to fire Hart and Torrence burned out and rolled to the starting line.

Hart launched hard and was right with Torrence all the way down the track but the 3.719 second run at 331.77 mph by the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster was not quite enough to outrun Torrence’s 3.690 second, 331.85 mph pass. It was Torrence’s quickest run of the weekend. Hart made a nearly identical pass to his quickest qualifying effort.

JOSH HART READY TO ROCK AT NEVADA NATIONALS

OCALA, FL – Las Vegas is known as the city where fortunes can change in an instant and second year Top Fuel driver and team owner Josh Hart is hoping Lady Luck smiles on his R+L Carriers Top Fuel team this weekend at the NHRA Nevada Nationals. The accomplished driver who last year raced a partial schedule, took a huge step forward with his program this season, racing all 20 NHRA national events to date. He is in the thick of the battle for the Top Fuel world championship and with two races left Hart is sitting in sixth place just 147 points out of first in one of the most competitive Top Fuel battles in recent history. The NHRA Nevada Nationals will be an opportunity for Hart and the R+L Carriers team to close the gap with round wins on Sunday.

“We know what we need to do and our focus is on getting qualifying bonus points and going rounds on Sunday,” said Hart, a two-time Top Fuel national event winner. “In Dallas I let the team down but I put that behind me and now the only thing everyone on this team is thinking about is getting the most out of the Nevada Nationals.”

Two weeks ago, Hart suffered his first red-light start of his career in the first round against Leah Pruett losing out on the chance to advance to the quarterfinals with a strong first round pass. The silver lining for Hart was he was able to maintain his position in the points and not fall out of championship contention. The final race of the season will award points and a half (30 total) for every round win so Hart knows if he can cut into the lead this weekend, he will control his own destiny for the championship.

HART STAYS IN CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION LEAVING DALLAS

DALLAS, TX – Racing at the 37th Texas NHRA Fall Nationals Josh Hart and the Brakes for Breasts TechNet Top Fuel dragster rolled in with three NHRA playoff races remaining and their championship hopes under their control. Through two days of qualifying that included four passes on track Hart and his Ron Douglas tuned 11,000 horsepower race car rolled into race day as the No. 9 qualifier. Hart’s quickest run was posted on Saturday afternoon during the third qualifying session, a 3.750 second run at 328.25 mph earned the driver from Ocala, Florida, two qualifying bonus points. As the Saturday session wrapped up Hart and his TechNet team ran 3.950 seconds looking to find the performance edge under race-like conditions.

“We got what we needed out of qualifying to give us everything we needed for race day,” said Hart. “The first run on Saturday was strong and gave us some confidence to get after it in the last session. We figured out what we didn’t need to do and it was also really hot. We knew the weather was going to change overnight.”

In the opening round Hart drew Leah Pruett, the No. 8 qualifier. Last year Hart defeated Pruett in the first round when he was the No. 6 qualifier and raced to the semifinals. Today looking to move up in the Top Ten Hart was geared up to get his race day started in a similar fashion. This was the fourth meeting between the two pros and Hart was holding a 3-0 record.

Move for the Championship Revs Up in Dallas for Josh Hart

OCALA, FL – Josh Hart and the R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster made a statement two weeks ago at the NHRA Midwest Nationals and they let the rest of the Top Fuel Countdown competitors know that the independent team from Ocala, Florida was not going to disappear into the background. A strong qualifying performance coupled with a runner-up finish closed the gap on the top five racers in the category. While Hart and the R+L Carriers Top Fuel team sit in sixth place they are only 66 points behind the Top Fuel points leader. For the second year Top Fuel driver and team owner he feels like he has momentum coming into the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex, October 14-16.

“We had a good race in St. Louis and I definitely would have liked to have gotten that win and the points,” said Hart, a two-time finalist in 2022. “I had a good race last year at Texas Motorplex and I think we will be in an even better position this year. We have three races left and this is the most Top Fuel races I have ever run in a season. My R+L Carriers team has been awesome and I think we will keep surprising people.”

Hart burst onto the Top Fuel scene last year winning the first Top Fuel race he entered, the historic Gatornationals and then to wrap up a strong rookie season on a limited schedule he won the Charlotte Countdown national event. Those two victories gave Hart the confidence and support from longtime marketing partners R+L Carriers and TechNet to make a commitment to run the full 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series schedule. This season Hart has raced at new tracks across the country introducing his program and personality to new fans almost every weekend.

RUNNER-UP AT ST LOUIS JUMPS HART INTO CHAMPIONSHIP MIX

ST. LOUIS, MO – Not since Josh Hart raced to the runner-up finish at the NHRA Norwalk Nationals with his R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster has the second-year team owner and Top Fuel driver been one of the last two drivers standing on race day. Today at the NHRA Midwest Nationals Hart, who qualified No. 2, raced to the final round after defeating Scott Palmer, Mike Salinas and Shawn Langdon before facing four-time Top Fuel champion and No. 1 qualifier Steve Torrence in the final.

“I absolutely feel good after today,” said Hart, a two-time Top Fuel national event winner. “The team has really, really pushed hard. We finally found the name for the car. The car is officially named Gloria. Ron Douglas, my crew chief, is a big St. Louis Blues fan and we had that song playing all day. I will have it in my head all week. We have some momentum and we have three races left to get it done.”

Hart closed out qualifying with the quickest run of his career, a 3.667 second, 333.33 mph blast that moved him to the No. 2 qualifier position. This was the second time Hart started a race from the No. 2 spot, which is the highest the former Top Alcohol Dragster driver has ever qualified in Top Fuel. With the strong qualifying run Hart’s R+L Carriers team was afforded the second pick for race day run order and they elected to be the first pair of the session to take advantage of cooler temperatures and perfect track conditions.
