BRITTANY FORCE LEADS TOP FUEL AT US NATIONALS; FUNNY CAR FORCES No. 2 AND No. 3
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Top Fuel rookie Brittany Force came out of the gate strong on day one of qualifying at the Chevrolet Performance
U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis as she claimed her first career provisional No. 1 position.
Following a week of testing at the Indy track and making several changes, the Auto Club Road to the Future contender made a quick 3.82 second pass to top the highly competitive Top Fuel class. Despite having some tough competition behind her in qualifying, Force remained confident that she could remain the top seed after her strong run. Sister Courtney Force claimed her first career No. 1 qualifier last season at this same event in Funny Car.
TOP FUEL ROOKIE BRITTANY FORCE THROWS FIRST PITCH AT INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS GAME
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Castrol EDGE Top Fuel pilot Brittany Force showed off her baseball skills as she threw out the first pitch at
Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis Tuesday night for the Indianapolis Indians minor league game.
The Auto Club Road of Southern California to the Future Award candidate alongside fellow competitor Shawn Langdon (see attached photo), participated in the ceremonial event as part of this week’s festivities to kick off the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway. This event is NHRA’s “Super Bowl Week” and what better way to start things off than with a great game of baseball and an autograph session to meet all the local fans.
“It was definitely something different,” Force said. “I’ve never done anything like that before, so it was a cool experience. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to do something like that again in the future.”
Despite this being Force’s first time to a minor league game, sports isn’t something new to the 27-year-old Yorba Linda, California native. She has previously attended a National Football League game in the city known as the “mecca of drag racing.”
JFR FUNNY CARS RETURN TO INDIANAPOLIS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
BROWNSBURG, IN – Once again fans and travelers passing through one of the busiest airports in the Midwest will be greeted by two
John Force Racing Nitro Funny Cars. In advance of the 59th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals this weekend John Force’s Castrol GTX High Mileage Ford Mustang commemorating his induction into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Auto Club Ford Mustang driven by two-time U.S. Nationals winner Robert Hight will be on display getting fans and travelers getting revved up for the biggest NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event in the country.
“We are excited to be back in the Indianapolis Airport with two of our Funny Cars. This is the biggest weekend of our season and to be able to show off two of our Castrol and Auto Club Funny Cars is a great honor. We are right in the middle of the airport so everyone will see our race cars and the videos from our kiosks. It is a great opportunity for the NHRA and for our sponsors,” said John Force, a four-time Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals winner.
15-Time Funny Car Champ Aims for Another Bonus Race Victory
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – When eight of the sport’s A-list Funny Car drivers line up Sunday to compete for the $100,000 top prize in the
second annual Traxxas Nitro Shootout, the spotlight will fall not on points leader Matt Hagan nor reigning series champion Jack Beckman nor even track record holder Cruz Pedregon.
Instead, it will shine most brightly on defending champion John Force and his suddenly spectacular Castrol GTX Ford Mustang.
A tour winner at Bristol, Tenn., and a Funny Car finalist in four of the last eight races in the NHRA Mello Yello Series, Force will roll to the starting line at Lucas Oil Raceway not only as the winner of more tour events than anyone else in history (135) but also as the winner of more bonus races than any other driver.
FORCE RETURNS TO SITE OF FIRST NO. 1 QUALIFIER PERFORMANCE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – It’s that time again; time for the “Big Go” placed advantageously in one of the largest motorsport areas in the
country. From Aug. 28-Sept. 2, the fan-favorite Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis will host the 59th annual Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals, the final event in the regular season before the 2013 Countdown to the Championship begins.
Last year in Indianapolis, Courtney Force picked up her first No. 1 qualifier in the Funny Car category with an unbeatable 4.049 ET. On race day, she beat Jon Capps before losing to Johnny Gray in the second round. The Traxxas Ford Mustang driver who became the 2012 Auto Club of Southern California “Rookie of the Year,” and finished No. 5 for the 2012 season, also raced to top speed of the meet at 317.27 mph.
“I’m very excited coming into Indy. It’s one of the biggest races of the season,” said Force. “I grew up watching my dad race at the U.S. Nationals and it’s the one race that every driver and every fan is most excited about.”
ROOKIE BRITTANY FORCE READY TO RACE THE BIG GO
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The biggest race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season is upon us as competitors prepare for the
Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway on Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis. This is the Super Bowl of the NHRA, and to win this event is on top of every driver’s wish list. For Top Fuel rookie Brittany Force, winning this race would be a dream come true.
Force, the third oldest child of 15-time world champion John Force, has seen her father as well as older sister, Ashley, win this prestigious race. To prepare for this race, Force and her entire Castrol EDGE team spent two days testing at the Indy track hoping to learn some new setups.
“It was a tough two days of testing for us,” Force said. “We were trying to make a lot of changes. I have three great crew chiefs and they’ve been really trying to make a lot of changes and push this Castrol EDGE dragster to run with all the other top fuel cars out there.”
FORCE AIMS FOR FIFTH U.S. NATIONALS TITLE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – By clinching a berth in the Countdown to 1 playoffs two weeks ago at Brainerd, Minn., John Force extended his
record-breaking streak of consecutive Top 10 finishes in the NHRA series to 29.
While that is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the fact that the last time the 64-year-old icon wasn’t a member of the Funny Car elite was 1984, a year in which a movie ticket cost $2.50, a gallon of gas $1.10 and Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of England, it isn’t even a blip on Force’s radar.
When he sends his Castrol GTX Ford Mustang to the line for this week’s 59th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway, the 15-time champion will have much more on his mind than the NHRA record book.
Stung by the pending departure of two long-time sponsors, Force has gone into what he calls “fight mode.”
HIGHT BRINGS FOCUS AND DETERMINATION TO US NATIONALS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Every driver who drives into the pits for the Chevrolet Performance US Nationals knows they are rolling onto
hallowed ground. Names like Garlits, Prudhomme, Glidden, Schumacher and Force has all added to the mystic that is “The Big Go!” This year two-time US Nationals winner Robert Hight will be racing with to hold onto his spot in the Top Ten as well as try and get his third win at the biggest race of the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The 59th annual Chevrolet Performance US Nationals gets underway this Friday with the evening qualifying session for the Top Fuel and Funny Car teams starting at 7 p.m. at Lucas Oil Raceway Park.
“I don’t know if I have ever been more focused going into the US Nationals than I am right now. We had a really good test session last week and (crew chief) Mike Neff has given me a great race car. There will be a lot going on but we are ready and I am looking forward to getting on the track,” said Hight, a four time finalist at the Chevrolet Performance US Nationals.

JFR LAUNCHES CAMPAIGNS TO ADD ROBERT HIGHT AND BRITTANY FORCE TO TRAXXAS SHOOTOUTS
John Force Racing is asking all their fans to get behind Robert Hight and Brittany Force to vote them into the last spot in the 2nd
annual Traxxas Shootouts. Hight, driver of the Auto Club Ford Mustang Funny Car, is asking fans to “Get It Right With Hight” and make him the eighth Funny Car driver in the $100,000 to win specialty race while rookie Top Fuel driver Brittany Force wants her fans to “Make Brittany The First In TF” in the Top Fuel Traxxas Shootout. Force is the first JFR driver to compete in Top Fuel and she would like to be the first female to compete in the Top Fuel Traxxas Shootout Labor Day weekend.
“It has been a thrill to be the first JFR driver to race Top Fuel and I want to be the first woman to take on the guys in the Top Fuel Traxxas Shootout. I have a great team and we have really been making progress lately. I love the “Make Brittany The First” campaign and I hope everyone goes to Facebook and votes for me and my Castrol EDGE Top Fuel dragster,” said Force.
