INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On the eve of the 3rd annual Funny Car Traxxas Nitro Shootout three John Force Racing Funny Car drivers Shootouthaving differing views but similar goals on attacking the $100,000 to win specialty race. There was much discussion today at the Shootout press conference about “doubling-up” and for the all the competitors they know that is a tough proposition. Of the 20 different drivers who have “doubled-up,” winning pro bonus races and national events on the same weekend, only four have done so more than once: John Force in Funny Car, Bob Glidden and Greg Anderson in Pro Stock and Matt Hines in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

John Force is bidding for his seventh bonus race victory and his second in three years in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout.  The driver of the Castrol GTX HIGH MILEAGE Ford Mustang won the Big Bud Shootout in 1987, 1990, 1993, 1996 and 2000.  He won the Skoal Showdown in 2006 and the Traxxas Shootout in 2012. Force has won NHRA bonus races in four different decades, the only driver to have done so.  His most recent win came in the 2012 Traxxas Nitro Shootout in Dallas and his first specialty race win came in the Big Bud Shootout in 1987.

J. FORCE TO FIFTH FINAL IN A ROW; WILL SETTLE RACE IN INDY

BRAINERD, MN – John Force and his Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang will have to wait two weeks to see if he will claim his fourth John Force, Sunday - Gary Nastasewin of the season and his 142nd career victory. With persistent rain showers and darkening skies over Brainerd International Raceway, the final Funny Car round for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals was postponed this evening and has been rescheduled for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. The Funny Car final will be run during Q3 on Saturday in Indianapolis.

“The fans really hung with us today which made it special. I have won this race 11 times and we are going to have to run it off in Indy. I’ll be racing a great friend of mine Ron Capps. We were both excited. DeJoria did a great job running that 3.99. She and DeLago have a great thing going. My car ran in the threes but I keep cheating that light and trying to make sure I get those wins. I am excited and I want to thank all the people that spent time with me this weekend,” said Force, the 11-time Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals winner.

No. 1 IN BRAINERD JOHN FORCE CONTINUES QUALIFYING DOMINATION

BRAINERD, MN – On the final qualifying run today at the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals, John Force and his Castrol GTX High Mileage John Force - Gary NastaseMustang stampeded to the head of the pack with a stunning 4.060 second run at 315.27 mph after an afternoon rain shower cooled off Brainerd International Raceway. This is John Force’s fifth No. 1 qualifying position of the season and 151st of his career in Funny Car. John has also won this event 11 times before and will face Bob Bode in the opening round during Sunday’s eliminations.

“Well, it cooled down, and we knew everybody was going to step up. That extra 30 minutes gave everybody some extra time – and then of course, they went to work on the track. And then (Alexis) DeJoria stepped up there and just killed everybody, and we knew it was there. At the other end, I joked with Cruz (Pedregon) – I said, I really thought Robert Hight would step up, in the Auto Club Ford, and if he doesn’t get me, which we raced, and I made it, I said Cruz will do it, ‘cause he’ll throw the kitchen sink at it – that’s the way he races. And he had trouble at the top end, Cruz did. And I will say this, and I’ve never done this before, it ain’t in my personality, and I don’t know why I did, but I said to the TV camera, I’m going to be number one. It don’t mean you won’t get your tail end whipped tomorrow,” said John Force.

HIGHT RUNS TO No. 1 ON FRIDAY AT BRAINERD

BRAINERD, MN – For Robert Hight and the Auto Club Ford Mustang team Brainerd International Raceway has not been a track Robert Hight Friday - Gasry Nastasewhere they have had much success. Hight has never been No. 1 qualifier and it is one of only three tracks he has never even been to a final round. After today’s qualifying performance Hight is encouraged that after ten years his luck might be changing at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. After a sub-par first qualifying session Hight bounced back and ran to the top of the field with a 4.085 second pass.

“I didn’t think that run had a chance of staying on top. I am glad no one was offering to take bets on that because I would have lost. I went back and I told (crew chief) Mike Neff that I believe that will be top half. I really figured everybody would step up because it is cooling down. We were first pair and Bob Bode blew it up so I knew it was going to be 10 or 15 minutes before anyone else ran and this time of day that track temperature is just dropping. Hats off to my guys because that was pretty awesome and I am pretty impressed with that run,” said Hight, the current Mello Yello points leader.

JOHN FORCE WINS SEATTLE; COMPLETES JFR SWEEP OF SWING

SEATTLE, WA – John Force and his Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang ended the annual NHRA Western Swing in the winner’s circle John Force win top end - Ron Lewisas 16-time NHRA Mello Yello champion claimed his 141st career win and eighth at Pacific Raceway today at the 27th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals. It was also John Force’s third win of the season and fourth consecutive final round appearance. Not only that, the Castrol backed John Force Racing Funny Cars can also claim a Western Swing sweep, as Robert Hight’s win at Denver, Courtney Force’s victory in Sonoma and now John’s success at Seattle have rewritten the NHRA record books.

“It’s great anytime you win but you got to look over there at the Castrol green Ford and all those kids around it. They’re really good, but what makes them really good is they team up with my other three teams with Traxxas and Auto Club and of course, the Castrol EDGE dragster. They all work as a team and that’s what makes it click and if somebody’s in trouble, someone’s helping Mike Neff, John Medlen, Ron Douglas, Todd Smith, Dean Antonelli, the lists goes on and on. It’s amazing how we all work as one team and we all share the money and that’s the way we keep it running,” said John Force.
