HOUSTON, TX – Pro Mod driver Troy Coughlin knows the 366ci small block powerplant in his JEGS.com Pontiac GTO puts him at a disadvantage to all the other drivers competing in this weekend’s Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag
Racing Series race at Royal Purple Raceway, but the world champion drag racer believes he can hold his own during the 24th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals.
“We’re doing about all we can with this combination,” Coughlin said. “Our goal at this point is to kind of survive and stay in the mix while we wait for our new car to get here. If we can qualify and win some rounds Houston like we did in Vegas, I think we’ll all be happy with that.”
Switching to a turbocharged configuration under the guidance of crew chief Jake Hairston, Coughlin has been driving Hairston’s old racecar this season while he awaits the arrival of a similarly built Chevrolet Camaro from Jerry Bickel’s shop in St. Louis. The new Camaro will have the capacity to hold a larger engine.

Baytown, TX – The Houston event will mark the third event in the ten-race 2011 Get Screened America Pro Mod Series. Troy Coughlin will once again be in action with his turbocharged JEGS.com Pontiac GTO.
Troy finished fourth in the 2010 Get Screened America Pro Mod Series. He is currently ranked 12th after his round one win at the most recent event in Las Vegas.
The JEGS Mail Order team has enjoyed considerable success at Royal Purple Raceway. Jeg Coughlin Jr. won four Pro Stock titles in Houston (1997, 1998, 2000, and 2010) and the Super Stock title in 1994. John Coughlin also won the Super Gas title at the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in Houston in 1995.
In his last trip to Houston in 2010, Troy qualified his Pro Mod Camaro in the No. 9 spot with a 5.943 and lost a close round one battle against Rick Stivers, 6.04 to 6.07.
In 2010, Troy was the only driver to qualify for all ten events in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series. He also qualified in the top half of the field four times and his average qualifying position was No. 9.

DELAWARE, OH – Coughlin Brothers Racing, an entity owned by drag racers John, Troy, Mike, and Jeg Coughlin Jr., announced a partnership with Nick Ferri and Roy Simmons to build a state-of-the-art engine shop that will produce
Pro Stock racing motors for consumers around the world.
JNR Racing plans to build and lease motors from its new Research and Development facility in Mooresville, N.C. The group collectively has won four Pro Stock titles since 2002.
“We are extremely excited to align ourselves with Nick and Roy,” Jeg Coughlin said. “We have all worked together in the past and know what it takes to put a championship caliber engine program together.
“Our goal is to do this like it’s never been done before. We want to build the best horsepower possible for our customers. We fully intend to supply our customers with the best products and service in the world. The motors we build will be capable of winning races and championships, and we’ll stand behind everything we build.”

LAS VEGAS, NV – It wasn’t the storybook finish Troy Coughlin envisioned for the JEGS.com Pontiac GTO in Sunday’s Get Screened America Pro Mod Series action at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but his turbocharged small
block is still defying the odds.
“I guess none of the other Pro Mod racers got the memo that we were supposed to win today,” Coughlin said with a laugh. “We had a decent run today, we just got beat.”
After winning the first round of eliminations on Saturday night, Coughlin was paired with former Team JEGS crew chief “Tricky” Rickie Smith in the second round.
After being burned-down by Smith at the starting line, Coughlin’s car got off to a smooth start, but it just didn’t have enough juice to beat Smith, who ran a 6.016-second pass at 236.63 mph. Coughlin crossed the line in 6.047 at 246.17 mph.

LAS VEGAS, NV – When Troy Coughlin is asked about his turbocharged JEGS.com Pontiac GTO, which he’ll be racing
in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series at this weekend’s 12th annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, the veteran racer breaks into a wide smile.
“This car is incredibly fast,” said Coughlin, the only Pro Mod racer to qualify for every event in 2010. “It’s the quickest car I’ve ever driven. I feel like a kid again because I find myself thinking about it at random times. I can’t wait to get back to the track.”
Coughlin will compete in Sin City with new crew chief Jake Hairston’s racecar as he awaits delivery of his own Chevrolet Camaro, which is currently being built. The Hairston family won numerous West Coast races with the car, which is powered by a 396-cid turbocharged engine capable of five-second runs at more than 240 mph.

BENTON, IL – JEGS Mail Order will serve as title sponsor of the inaugural Spring Door Car Shootout, April 30-May 1, at I-57 Dragstrip.
“We’ve designed this event for the sportsman racer; the weekend warrior door car racers,” said race promoter Luke Bogacki. “I don’t think any single company has done more for sportsman racers over the last couple of decades than JEGS so it’s great to have them as title sponsor.
“The yellow and black supports several major bracket events. They’re a contingency sponsor at all NHRA and IHRA events, including the ET Finals. JEGS also sponsors the JEGS All-Stars program and all three of the NHRA JEGS SPORTSnational events. They care about Sportsman racing and Sportsman racers.”

JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals remains a special place for Coughlin family

Belle Rose, LA – There is a reason why brothers Mike and Jeg Coughlin consider the annual JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals to be one of their favorite races and it has nothing to do with the fact that both drivers are former
champions of the event, which takes place this weekend (March 18-20) at No Problem Raceway Park in Belle Rose, La.
It is the fun atmosphere and unmatched camaraderie between racers that keeps the Coughlin’s coming back year after year and in 2011, there will be a swarm of yellow and black JEGS Mail Order machines in action as Mike and Jeg will be joined by their nephew, T.J., Jeg’s fiancée, Samantha Kenny, and Mike’s son, Jack, who will be making runs in his Jr. Dragster during the eighth-annual event.
Jeg, who won the Top Dragster title at the 2006 JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals, plans to arrive in Belle Rose with a pair of brand new Undercover Chassis dragsters, one for himself and one for his fiancée, Samantha Kenny. The cars were completed just days before the event and will be raced following an abbreviated test session at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
