IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals Moves to Alabama International Dragway
STEELE, AL — The 2025 International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries World Finals, scheduled for October 16-18, will
take place at a new venue: Alabama International Dragway.
The Steele, Alabama, track boasts a long-standing relationship with IHRA, dating back to its opening. Alabama International Dragway hosted the IHRA Super Nationals from 1993-95, with notable winners including IHRA Hall of Fame drivers Scotty Cannon and Anthony Bertozzi. Other champions included Top Fuel drivers Clayton Harris and Rhonda Hartman, Pro Mod standout Tommy Mauney, and Pro Stock legend Roy Hill.
The venue features both 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile track configurations, earning it the well-deserved tagline, “Where Records Fall.”
Spanning 100 acres, the facility includes asphalt pit areas, 10,000-seat bleachers, concessions, restrooms, and trackside RV lots. One of its most significant advantages is its convenient location between Gadsden and Birmingham, just off Interstate 59 at Exit 174. Continue reading

NORWALK, OH – In a groundbreaking move for the world of drag racing, the World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) and the International Hot
Rod Association (IHRA) have announced their first-ever collaboration, setting the stage for an exciting future on race tracks across the nation. This partnership marks a new era where both sanctioning bodies join forces to elevate the experience for racers and racing venues alike.
The IHRA and WDRA are now united in their mission to manage sanctioned facilities, ensuring insurance compliance, licensing, and organizing dynamic bracket racing programs and events. “We have a unique opportunity to combine the strengths of both IHRA and WDRA to help our collective facilities and provide opportunities and stability for our bracket racing members,” said WDRA’s Don Scott. “WDRA’s expertise is on the member track, licensing, and bracket racing side of the sport. As IHRA launches new pro racing programs and events, there is a need for making sure the IHRA tracks and bracket racers get taken care of. The WDRA team is going to make sure that we are there to support the IHRA facilities and bracket programs because this arrangement is simply good for our sport.”
IHRA’s Darryl Cuttell shares this enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Both groups have the best interests of the tracks and racers at heart. Reinhart Named IHRA VP of Racing Operations
HAMILTON, OH — Alan Reinhart, one of the most familiar names in all of drag racing, has joined the International Hot Rod Association
(IHRA) as the new Vice President of Racing Operations.
Reinhart is the longtime voice of the sport with decades of experience, announcing at the largest national events. He will have an expanded role with IHRA. One of his initial priorities is to work with new IHRA President Rich Schaefer on establishing schedules.
Besides providing commentary at the IHRA Nitro Jam events, Reinhart will be a liaison for the professional teams and work with track operators and other stakeholders. He will also serve in a leadership role where he’s involved with management in setting policies and procedures. Continue reading
IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series to Feature a 10-Race Schedule in 2025
CINCINNATI, OH — How’s this for a halftime show? The massive news keeps coming for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA). It
was announced at halftime of Saturday’s NFL game between the IHRA’s new hometown team the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos that IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series will return with a 10-race schedule in 2025.
These will be the first IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series events in a decade with dates and locations soon to be revealed. This is a huge increase from a previously announced three-race schedule.
Several iconic classes will be on tap headlined by Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Mod and Mountain Motor Pro Stock which will be featured at all 2025 IHRA Nitro Jam events.
Other Professional classes that will be featured at selected IHRA Nitro Jam events include — 500 Inch Pro Stock as it will be the first time in years racers can use fuel injection and no hood scoops or carburetors and hood scoops, Nitro Harley, Top Fuel Motorcycle and in a surprising twist Pro Stock Motorcycle. Groundbreaking Partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals will have the IHRA featured during this Saturday’s Game at Paycor Stadium and into the Future
CINCINNATI, OH — The news is so big it couldn’t wait until January 2. The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) had originally
scheduled a press conference for Jan. 2, 2025. Given the magnitude of this announcement and the opportunity a groundbreaking partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals has provided, it was important to get this news out immediately.
The IHRA will be featured prominently during this Saturday’s Bengals game against the Denver Broncos at Paycor Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Eastern with the game broadcast nationally on the NFL Network.
Recently acquired by Cuttell Motorsports LLC, the IHRA has relocated its headquarters to Fairfield, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb. Several luminaries will be there to represent the IHRA at the game which holds huge playoff implications.
The list includes Senator Mark R. Maynard, five-time IHRA World Champion “Tricky” Rickie Smith and his wife Nancy, six-time IHRA Pro Mod World Champion Scotty Cannon, and legendary Pro Stock star Larry Morgan. Current Pro Mod standouts Bubba Greene, Craig Sullivan, Tim Molnar, and his wife, Rikki, a winning Sportsman racer, are others scheduled to attend. Continue reading
Darryl Cuttell Becomes New Owner of IHRA
HAMILTON, OH — Larry Carrier started the International Hot Rod Association. Larry Jeffers saved it. Darryl Cuttell is poised to take it to
new heights.
It was announced today that Cuttell, the Owner-Operator of Darana Hybrid, has purchased the IHRA from Larry Jeffers. Last Saturday at the PRI trade show, the IHRA announced that Darana Hybrid had entered into a multi-year title sponsorship.
The agreement allows the IHRA to significantly increase purses in the IHRA SuperSeries, as well as the return to Nitro Jam and the Pro-Am events. Cuttell decided he needed to make an even larger commitment which is shown by today’s announcement.
Cuttell is a hands-on business owner, a master electrician and a member of the Tuscarora Native American Nation. He operates Darana Hybrid by the Native American Code of Ethics and tradition that says all people who work together will make the world stronger by generously sharing their collective knowledge with others.
He’s also a passionate drag racer, driver of a 1970 Pro Mod Camaro. He operates his companies with the motto, “Make It Happen.” Continue reading
IHRA Partnerships with Darana Hybrid, Speed Sport 1 to Provide Racers Huge Purses and Opportunities to Showcase Talent
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) signed a multi-year title sponsorship agreement with Darana Hybrid
today at the PRI trade show as a partner to bring back Nitro Jam. It will also mean dramatic purse increases for the racers at the IHRA Summit Team and Summit SuperSeries World Finals events.
IHRA has also entered into a partnership with Speed Sport 1, motorsports’ leading news organization with its content to be aired on the live racing network. Speed Sport1, a F.A.S.T. channel with direct to consumer delivery, is on every stream platform including Amazon Prime, Pluto, Roku, Fubo and Sling.

IHRA Listens to Racers and Track Partners to Revamp Division Realignments
HOUSE SPRINGS, MO — Racers and track partners, you have spoken and the International Hot Rod Association has listened.
#IHRAReturnToGlory is more than a hashtag. It’s a commitment to work together with track partners, marketing partners and racers to make the IHRA the best drag racing organization in the world. Your input is always welcomed on the ways you see to improve the IHRA.
We’ve heard your concerns, taken your suggestions and have worked with each of our track partners to come up with the best lineups for each IHRA division. It’s created stronger divisions and better travel for the racers.
“Shortly after we announced plans to realign and consolidate some of our divisions for 2025, I received several e-mails, messages and phone calls from racers and track partners alike. As President of the IHRA, I will always strive to do what’s best for our racers, track partners and marketing partners regardless of the outside noise. We were able to make changes to have a solid division lineup and a solid schedule for our Team Finals and World Finals for 2025,” said IHRA President Kenny Nowling.

IHRA Working to Return to Glory Through Symbols and Actions
HOUSE SPRINGS, MO — It’s much more than just a logo. It’s a symbol of the commitment to bring the IHRA back to its former glory. The
International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) announced today a return to the famed globed logo and the original Ironman trophy. In addition, the hashtag #IHRAReturntoGlory will be used for IHRA posts on social media and other content.
“Everywhere I go, the people I see have a love for the original IHRA and what it was all about,” IHRA President Kenny Nowling said. “We listened to our track partners, racers and fans. The desire to go back to the original logo is overwhelming.”
It is a tribute to the IHRA’s history with the sanctioning body founded by Larry Carrier in 1970 and the first national events held in 1971. His son, Andy Carrier, was overjoyed when he heard the news the IHRA was bringing back the iconic logo.
“That’s wonderful. I’ve been watching a lot of the old IHRA races on YouTube and the nostalgia makes you proud,” Carrier said. “I remember walking into the IHRA offices as a kid and that logo always stood out. It was so pretty with the red, white and blue. When Bill Bader Sr. was still alive, they did a tribute to dad and they gave us plaques with the old logo on it.
