NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series stars Tony Schumacher and Jack Beckman to appear at free fan festival Thursday in St. Louis

MADISON, IL – Gateway Motorsports Park and the National Hot Rod Association will present a free fan festival on Gateway Motorsports ParkThursday from 4-7 p.m. at The Outfield at Mike Shannon’s Steak & Seafood (www.shannonsteak.com) at 620 Market Street in St. Louis. The free fan fest will kick off this weekend’s NHRA AAA Midwest Insurance Nationals, which is the second event of the six-race NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ 2015 Countdown to the Championship. The free event will include a driver and rider autograph session, show cars, live music and the opportunity to win race tickets.

The free driver and rider autograph session is scheduled to run from 4:30-6 p.m. The list of NHRA racers who have agreed to participate continues to grow. Fans now will have the opportunity to meet eight-time Top Fuel champion Tony Schumacher, 2012 Funny Car champion Jack Beckman, Terry McMillen, Shawn Langdon, Larry Dixon, Jenna Haddock and Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Steve Johnson. The NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will be represented by Steve Matusek, Charlotte winner Danny Rowe, defending champion Rickie Smith and recent Houston victor Donnie Walsh Jr.

Free fan fest to kick off NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park

MADISON, IL – On Thursday, September 24, Gateway Motorsports Park and the National Hot Rod Association will Gateway Motorsports Parkpresent a free fan fest from 4-6 p.m. at The Outfield at Mike Shannon’s Steak & Seafood (www.shannonsteak.com) at 620 Market Street in St. Louis. The free fan fest will kick off the annual NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series AAA Midwest Insurance Nationals on September 25-27 and will include a driver and rider autograph session, show cars, live music and the opportunity to win race tickets.

The NHRA AAA Midwest Insurance Nationals is an NHRA Countdown to the Championship event and is critical to drivers and riders chasing the 2015 title. Pro classes will include Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Mod.

Lacey wins the big green on UBDRA Black Sunday at Gateway Motorsports Park

MADISON, IL – Gateway Motorsports Park hosted the United Black Drag Racers Association’s Black Sunday event Terry Laceyon Saturday and Sunday. Terry Lacey of Edwardsville, Illinois, defeated Jason McKague of Chamois, Missouri, in the final round of Super Pro eliminations.

Weekend winners also included Handy Hartline (Pro), Jeremy McKague (Street – with a perfect reaction time of .000), Californian Rob Linders (Super Pro Motorcycle), Phil Humphrey (Street Bike), Jakob Richardt (Jr. Dragster) and Brandon France (Jr. Dragster Consolation).

The Black Sunday event included drag racing, exhibition racing a hip hop car show, hydraulics contest and free cancer screening from the St. Louis University Cancer Center.

Jeremy McKague wins Super Pro championship by one point on final night of 2015 bracket racing season at Gateway Motorsports Park

MADISON, IL – Jeremy McKague of Chamois, Missouri, won the 2015 GMP Super Pro championship by just one Gateway Motorsports Parkpoint over Corey Landolt on the final night of bracket points racing at Gateway Motorsports Park. McKague’s Super Pro title win marked the first time since 1999 a “door car” (non-dragster) has won the championship at GMP. McKague entered his Nova – hobbled by a broken water pump – in the Super Pro, Pro and Bonus classes. He withdrew from the fourth round of eliminations in the Pro class in order to save the car in hopes of winning the Super Pro crown.

Danny Ratulowski repeated as GMP High School points champion and will represent the track at the NHRA division finals at Indianapolis.

VP Racing Fuels Super Pro final to Heaney

MADISON, IL – The drag strip at Gateway Motorsports Park presented race No. 9 of its 2015 bracket racing series Gateway Motorsports Parkon Saturday, August 1. Final-round winners included: Tom Heaney (VP Racing Fuels Super Pro), Jason Mallinckrod (Pro), Mike Davis (Sportsman), Charles Willis Jr. (Pro Bike), Scott Leonard (Index Motorcycle), Amanda Miller (Jr. Dragster Thunder), Clayton McGinnis (Jr. Dragster Light), Nicholas Dokman (Jr. Dragster Consy) and Greg Sesti (1/4-mile Bonus). Leonard made it to two finals and was runner-up in the Pro Bike class.

Illinois Lottery Run for the Money: The biggest-ever bracket race winner payout could happen at Gateway Motorsports Park!

MADISON, IL – The Illinois Lottery’s slogan is “Anything’s Possible” and a winner at Gateway Motorsports Park’s Gateway Motorsports ParkOct. 17-18 St. Louis Superbucks Showdown could very well experience the biggest payoff in the history of bracket-style drag racing.

The winner in each day’s final round of Super Pro eliminations could earn a $10,000 payday and the Pro bracket winner faces a potential $5,000 prize.

Super Pro racers who enter the unique Illinois Lottery Run for the Money event have the opportunity to win a prize that could reach hundreds of thousands – if not millions – of dollars. The entry fee for the Illinois Lottery Run for the Money is $20. The driver who runs closest to his dial-in will receive 50% of the total entry fees collected and $500 worth of Illinois Lottery scratch-off tickets.

Independence Day Weekend bracket series drag racing results from Gateway Motorsports Park

 

ST. LOUIS – Results from Gateway Motorsports Park’s E.T. Championship Series races (sixth and seventh of the Gateway Motorsports Park2015 season), July 2-3.

Thursday, July 2 — Gateway Motorsports Park E.T. Championship Series

Jeremy McKague, of Chamois, Missouri, fell just short of pulling off a clean sweep on Thursday night by winning the VP Racing Fuels Super Pro final, scoring another win in the Quarter-Mile Bonus Class, then finishing runner-up in the Pro class.

McKague earned a $1,200 payoff for winning the 64-car, 1/8-mile VP Racing Fuels Super Pro finale over Tim Horstmann. McKague added another $787 in prize money to his night by topping a 27-car field to claim the Quarter Mile Bonus Class over Tim Foley. The only setback to what would have been the perfect hat trick came in the Pro class, where he finished runner-up to Ron Beach Jr. Beach, driving a 1969 GTO delivered an .020 reaction time and ran 7.041 seconds (on a 7.04 second dial-in) to McKague’s reaction time of .023 and an elapsed time of 6.425 seconds on a 6.43 second dial-in to take the win. Beach earned $850 for the win while McKague’s grand total for the night was $2,387.
