Hagan, Schumacher lead DSR in Friday qualifying at inaugural New England NHRA Nationals in Epping

EPPING, NH – Matt Hagan in Funny Car and Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel led Don Schumacher Racing during the first day of qualifying DSRat the inaugural New England NHRA Nationals at New England Dragway.

Matt Hagan was best for the DSR Funny Car foursome in both sessions. On his opening pass, Hagan posted a 4.139-second lap in the Magneti Marelli Offered by Mopar Funny Car. Crew chief Dickie Venables and assistant Michael Knudsen followed that up with an impressive 4.057-second pass with the top speed of 317.49.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Darrell Gwynn Foundation join Pitch Energy Funny Car in honor of the late John R. Gray

BRISTOL, TN – Johnny and Terry Gray, and Johnny’s sister, Terry Chandler, announced today at Bristol Dragway that the Don DSRSchumacher Racing Funny Car they are sponsoring this season through the family’s Pitch Energy business will have a different look at four upcoming NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events.

Their Dodge Charger R/T, which has won a series-best three Funny Car titles and is ranked second in the points standings, will be devoted to raising awareness and funds for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s effort to find a cure for children’s cancer, and the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, which offers support for people with paralysis and works to prevent spinal cord injuries.

Massey Runner up in Top Fuel Leads the DSR Bristol Report

Massey, Battery Extender team finishes runner-up in Bristol, moves into third in NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel points standings

DSR Sometimes in NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing you just need a little bit of luck. And it went a long way for Spencer Massey and the Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher Top Fuel team on Sunday with crew chiefs Todd Okuhara and Phil Shuler.

In the opening round of Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals eliminations at Bristol Dragway, Massey’s opponent Doug Herbert was unable to make a run after his parachutes popped out following the burnout.

Team DSR Friday Update from Bristol

Crew chiefs Smith, Snyder put world champ Beckman on Bristol pole with first No. 1 qualifying effort of the year

DSR– Jack Beckman has been saying for a few weeks that his Valvoline NextGen/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors Funny Car was on the cusp of returning to the world championship form it showed during the second half of last year.

And the reigning NHRA Funny Car world champion is proving to be prophetic.

Beckman along with crew chief Todd Smith, assistant Terry Snyder and the rest of the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger R/T team advanced to their first championship round two weeks ago at Englishtown, N.J.

DSR sets three Thunder Valley records as Massey holds Top Fuel pole, Beckman second in Funny Car

BRISTOL, TN – Don Schumacher Racing had to head south to cool off after racing two weeks ago in New Jersey on the hottest weekend DSRof the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season when temperatures were in the low 90s.

Leading the DSR charge Friday in the Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals at Bristol Dragway was Spencer Massey and the Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher Top Fuel dragster tuned by crew chiefs Todd Okuhara and Phil Shuler. The team set both track records and earned the provisional No. 1 qualifying position heading to Saturday’s last two qualifying sessions.

“I was just talking to Phil and he said we were a little soft on that run and could have done better,” said Massey, who is on the cusp of winning the seventh pole of his career.

Son Anson’s NHRA Jr. Dragster keeps world champion Brown racing before heading to Thunder Valley Nationals

DSR– Who would have thought Antron Brown could get excited about a dragster reaching a top speed of 50 mph?

But the reigning NHRA Top Fuel world champion’s enthusiasm about the early success of his 8-year-old son Anson in the family’s NHRA Jr. Dragster nearly matches his thrill of going 330 mph.

The Brown family spent Saturday racing their half-scale dragster at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis before returning to Brownsburg, Ind., to race Sunday at Lucas Oil Raceway.

Hagan, Magneti Marelli win again, lead weekend DSR Summernationals Results

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – Matt Hagan and the Magneti Marelli Offered by Mopar/Rocky Boots Dodge Charger R/T won their second NHRA Matt Hagan - Englishtown - Competeion plus, Roger richardstitle of the season and reclaimed the NHRA Mello Yello Funny Car points lead Sunday by defeating Don Schumacher Racing teammate Jack Beckman in the championship round of the NHRA Summernationals.

Hagan, crew chief Dickie Venables and assistant Michael Knudsen produced a time of 4.112 seconds at 308.00 mph to edge past Beckman’s Valvoline NextGen/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors Dodge’s time of 4.182 at 303.98.

Venables tuned Hagan to the No. 1 qualifying position with a run of 4.050 seconds on Friday night for the event’s quickest Funny Car run.

Venables puts Hagan, Magneti Marelli team on E-Town pole; points leader Schumacher, U.S. Army lead DSR in Top Fuel

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – Summer arrived early Friday but the timing was appropriate for the 44th annual NHRA Toyota Summernationals DSRat Old Bridge Township Raceway Park at Englishtown, N.J.

And one of this season’s hottest Funny Cars continues to be the Magneti Marelli Offered by Mopar/Rocky Boots Dodge Charger R/T driven my Matt Hagan and tuned by crew chief Dickie Venables and rookie assistant Michael Knudsen.

Hagan recorded the quickest run through Friday’s two qualifying sessions when he recorded a 4.050-second pass at 315.64 mph after the track cooled by about 20 degrees to 101 from the late afternoon session and the ambient air temperature dropped from 90 to 85.

Team DSR Readies for the Toyota Summernationals

BROWNSBURG, IN – Team reports from DSR

DSR– Antron Brown will be the same popular hometown racer that he’s always been when he arrives at the track where he grew up watching his father and uncle race.

What will be different when Brown, 37, enters the gates of Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., is that he will do so as the reigning NHRA Top Fuel world champion.

“I went home after we won it in November and saw all of my family, but this will be the first time I get to see a lot of friends and people who have followed by career,” said Brown, who lives near Indianapolis with his wife, Billie Jo, and their three children.

NHRA Top Fuel champion Brown meets Indy 500 pole sitter Ed Carpenter at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Reigning NHRA Top Fuel champion Antron Brown was the special guest of IZOD IndyCar Series driver Ed DSRCarpenter on Wednesday. Carpenter is the pole sitter for Sunday’s 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 at famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Brown, driver of the Matco Tools dragster for Don Schumacher Racing and winner of two NHRA Mello Yello Series races this season, met with Carpenter and members of his Fuzzy’s Vodka team on Wednesday afternoon in the garage area at the home of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

Brown listened as Carpenter explained the controls of his IndyCar and described what it’s like to race before Brown climbed into Carpenter’s machine that earned the pole for Sunday’s prestigious race at an average speed of 228.762 mph.
