Tony not judging early season success on won-loss record, eager to arrive at Gatornationals with new test-proven tune-up
BROWNSBURG, IN – Not much rattles Tony Schumacher. His confident demeanor around his U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster has
been built on seven NHRA world championships, 72 event titles in 125 championship rounds and by owning nearly every record in drag racing’s premier category.
He has learned that championships aren’t determined until after the last of 24 events on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.
You might think that someone so accustomed to winner’s circle interviews and celebrations would be distraught that he’ll arrive at this weekend’s NHRA Gatornationals with his U.S. Army team led by crew chief Mike Green and assistant Neal Strausbaugh ranked eighth in points and a 1-2 record through the first two events of the season.

DSR Finaly Qualifying Reports from Wild Horse Pass
CHANDLER, AZ – Experimenting with a 10,000-horsepower Funny Car sounds dangerous, but it is exactly what crew chief Rob Flynn did with Jack Beckman’s Valvoline MaxLife Funny Car in the fourth and final qualifying session at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

Hagan takes DSR’s Mopar Express Dodge to championship round of Winternationals to open season; Massey goes to semifinals
POMONA, CA – Matt Hagan came to close to matching his performance last November at Pomona, Calif., in the Mopar Express
Lane/Rocky Boots Dodge Charger but reigning Funny Car champion John Force extracted revenge in the Circle K NHRA Winternationals Sunday to open the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.
In Top Fuel, Spencer Massey led the Don Schumacher Racing dragsters by advancing to the semifinals with the Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher team.
At last year’s season-ending NHRA Finals at Pomona, Hagan defeated Force in the championship round and set an NHRA speed record. Force reversed those results Sunday by beating Hagan and taking the record.
