Danny Rowe Remains in Pro Mod Top 5 after Semifinal Finish in Houston

LAGUNA HILLS, CA – Despite a valiant effort, a three-peat at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals wasn’t meant to be for Danny RoweDanny Rowe, driver of the Agave Underground Pro Modified Camaro, who qualified second and made it through to the semifinal round at Royal Purple Raceway near Houston.

Using an impressive 5.930-second, 246.53mph quarter-mile blast to take the No. 2 qualifying spot, Rowe met Chip King in the opening stanza. After dispatching King, Rowe faced fellow supercharged racer, Von Smith, in the second round, where he utilized a near-perfect reaction time and 6.026-second, 245.90mph effort to best Smith’s 6.065/242.84 combination to move onto a semifinal round matchup with Kenny Lang. Lang was off the starting line first by a narrow margin, and used that early advantage to hold off the hard-charging Agave Underground Pro Mod and take the win with a 6.001-second, 246.26mph pass over Rowe’s quicker but losing 5.980/246.44 performance.

Danny Rowe Focused on Maintaining Forward Momentum in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – Danny Rowe, driver of the Agave Underground Pro Mod Camaro, is exactly the kind of fast-paced, high energy Danny Rowe - Charlotteindividual one would expect to be willing to strap themselves into a nearly 3,000-horsepower, 250mph capable hot rod. That’s why the five-weeks leading up to this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals have been borderline unbearable for the Laguna Hills, California-based racer.

“After Gainesville, we just couldn’t wait to get back to the track,” says Rowe, checking in from the pits at zMAX Dragway outside Charlotte, home to this weekend’s NHRA national event. “We had a fast, consistent race car and this team just got off to a good start, so we’re here this weekend focused on maintaining that momentum and starting our climb toward the top of the points standings.”

Rowe, who leads the NHRA Pro Mod division in round wins (70) and final round appearances (9) since the class became a professional category in 2010, landed fifth in the NHRA Pro Mod points after qualifying No. 2 and finishing in the semifinal round in Gainesville. Just 56 points out of first place, Rowe knows a strong outing this weekend in Charlotte could mean a major shakeup in the points.

LAS VEGAS, NV – With three rounds of qualifying in the books for the 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at the fabulous Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Danny Rowe and his Sterling Bridge Pro Modified Camaro will start eliminations from the No. 2 spot.

“With as crazy of a season as this has been – the points lead constantly changing hands, the different combinations coming in and out of favor – we wanted to come to this final race of the season and just leave it all on the race track,” says Rowe, who will face No. 15 qualifier, Kenny Lang, in the opening round of eliminations.

“Jimmy Rector [crew chief] has this thing tuned up and we’re ready to get after it,” continues Rowe, who posted a stout 5.890-second, 245.67mph quarter-mile pass to earn the No. 2 qualifying position. “It’s been an interesting year and, as usual, we’re going to see this NHRA Pro Mod championship come down to the wire and that’s great – it’s exciting for the fans and all the people who follow Pro Modified drag racing. At this point, though, we just want to go out with a bang. We want to have a big performance here in Vegas, run hard, and let the chips fall where they may.”

MADISON, Il – After the opening round of eliminations for the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at the newly reopened Gateway Motorsports Park outside St. Louis, Missouri, Danny Rowe and his Sterling Bridge Pro Mod team are proving that they’re not going down without a fight.

Yet again the NHRA Pro Mod series championship is coming down to the wire with a half-dozen drivers still mathematically in contention, including California’s own Danny Rowe. Rowe came into the St. Louis event needing to make a statement early. Despite the clear and present performance advantage being displayed by the field leading turbocharged cars, Rowe used an impressive 5.886-second, 247.25mph quarter-mile blast to stake his claim in the No. 4 qualifying position.

“We were very excited to see St. Louis back on the schedule,” says Rowe, who has seen his fair share of success in the shadow of the Gateway Arch, including a pair of victories and setting the track record in 2010. “Going into this weekend, the second to last race of the season, we knew we had to get after it. You don’t want to come out swinging wildly and risk not qualifying, but once we got the car solidly in the top-half of the field, we knew that we were going to have to get after it.

Danny Rowe Remains No. 3 in Pro Mod Qualifying As Rain Continues at U.S. Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – As rain continues to fall on Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis during Sunday’s final day of qualifying for the 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, Pro Mod championship contender Danny Rowe hangs in the balance. His first-and-only pass of the weekend, a 5.983-second, 243.41mph effort on Friday, has him qualified third.

With minimal openings in the weather today, NHRA has set the Pro Mod fields and, pending dry conditions, will start with the first round of eliminations tomorrow. If weather or scheduling prevents Pro Mod eliminations from being run tomorrow, the race will be pushed back to next weekend with a second qualifying session being held on Saturday and eliminations following.

“Wow,” says Rowe, checking in from the rain-soaked pits at Lucas Oil Raceway. “This just goes to show you how many variables you’re dealing with in drag racing. If it’s not the car, the driver, or the track – it’s the weather. It’s not looking like there is any reprieve in sight for today, so the Pro Mod field is now set and if it’s drier tomorrow, we’ll go right into eliminations.”

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – With one round of qualifying for the 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in the books, Danny Rowe sits comfortably in the No. 3 qualifying slot with a 5.983-second, 243.41mph blast down the legendary quarter-mile on the property of Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Rowe and company will certainly look to improve their position in the strong 16-car field of supercharged, turbocharged and nitrous oxide-injected Pro Mods, but could hardly be disappointed with their off-the-trailer performance.

“We ran pretty well today, but we sure didn’t run a 5.86,” Rowe says with a chuckle, speaking of Donnie Walsh’s turbo-powered top-qualifying pass. “Seriously, though, we’re happy to be solidly in the show, especially amongst this particular group of cars. Tomorrow we’ll just go out there and try to make another good run.

Danny Rowe Looking to Regain Pro Mod Points Lead at 58th annual U.S. Nationals

Courtesy of Danny Rowe Racing

LAGUNA HILLS, CA – Danny Rowe has enjoyed the view from the top of the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series points standings for the better part of 2012, but an early exit from the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, cost him the prized position. A mere three-points out of the No. 1 spot, Rowe looks to regain the lead and march towards his first NHRA Pro Mod Series world championship this weekend at the 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

“If there’s a better place for us to make a stand than Indy, I don’t know where it would be,” says Rowe, who has finished 2nd in the championship points the last two seasons in a row. “This is the big one, the race you’d want to win if you could only win one, and everyone – from the drivers to the crew chiefs to the fans – treat it as such. It’s a special race and I think it’s going to bring the best out in this team.

“We’ve had a great year and we know that we’ve got to get after it here in Indy and try to get the points lead back,” Rowe continues. “The competition in Pro Mod right now is incredible; there’s a dozen cars capable of winning.
