BLAKE ALEXANDER RETURNS TO SITE OF HIS 1ST FUNNY CAR START, TEAMING WITH CHAD GREEN FOR FUNNY CAR ASSAULT AT READING
Four-time NHRA national event winner Blake Alexander returns to the site (Reading) of his first NHRA Funny Car competition when he pilots the CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge
MOHNTON, PA – Blake Alexander remembers his NHRA Funny Car debut back in 2011 well as he enters Maple Grove Dragway this
weekend (Sept. 12-14) for the NHRA Nationals drag races. Blake qualified for his first Funny Car race which was a big accomplishment.
Now, some 14 years later, Alexander, a four-time NHRA pro race winner from Charlotte, hits the popular Maple Grove pavement in search of another NHRA “Wally” trophy with his nitro-burning Chad Green Motorsports Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat. And his optimism comes from a recent performance at the prestigious U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis two weeks ago.
Blake upset his CGM teammate Chad Green in the first round and former World Champion Ron Capps in the quarterfinals with a “holeshot” win to advance to his first semifinals showing of the 2025 NHRA Mission national tour.
“We have been working to improve the race car with recent testing,” said Alexander. “We had a few issues in qualifying but the car ran well in eliminations at Indy. It was cool to work through all the issues with the team. And we didn’t change our program. We just ran into a buzzsaw in the semifinals with (Austin) Prock (U.S. Nationals winner). Continue reading
CHAD GREEN QUALIFIES 6TH FOR MONDAY’S U.S. NATIONALS, EXCITED TO BATTLE FOR TOP TEN “COUNTDOWN” SPOT, BLAKE ALEXANDER RETURNS IN PRONTO AUTO DODGE DRIVERS’ SEAT
Green welcomed back teammate Blake Alexander to the U.S. Nationals this weekend in the Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat and will race Blake in the first round
BROWNSBURG, IN – Chad Green has set his sights on a top ten position in the regular NHRA Mission Funny Car point standings from the
mid portion of the 20-race national drag racing tour. And this weekend at the 71st NHRA U.S. Nationals, Green can complete his task with his 12,000-horsepower CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang during Monday’s final eliminations.
Green, the businessman from Midland, Tex., began his trek to the top ten with an impressive sixth position Friday night in qualifying with a strong 3.900-second pass at 324.83 miles per hour. With the U.S. Nationals being an extra point event, Green is just single digits out of the ninth spot entering Monday’s finals.
This weekend, Green also welcomed back veteran racer Blake Alexander to the Chad Green Motorsports stable at the historic Indy Nationals, as the Charlotte, N.C., driver takes over the controls of the CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat for the annual “Big Go” classic. Ironically, Green and Alexander, who qualified 11th at 3.952 in the 16-car Funny Car field, will match up against each other in the opening round of competition set for 10 a.m. EDT on Labor Day Continue reading
FATHER BEATS SON IN FIRST GREEN FAMILY FUNNY CAR MATCHUP, CHAD GOES TO SEMIFINALS AS HUNTER QUALIFIES 3RD AT BRAINERD
BRAINERD, MN – The father-son Funny Car racing team of Chad and Hunter Green knew it was coming all along, and it finally happened in
first round of eliminations Sunday at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.
They raced against each other for the first time in their drag racing careers. And dad Chad came out the winner in that matchup.
It was a bit of surprise though as son Hunter had produced his best Funny Car qualifying performance with a third spot in the tough 16-car field at Brainerd. And the driver of the CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat Funny Car was the favorite in the first round with lane choice over Chad.
But the veteran racer’s machine produced a strong 3.952 seconds, and the son’s car smoked its rear tires right off the starting line. So, this round went to “dad.” Continue reading
CHAD & HUNTER GREEN READY FOR BETTER LUCK AT BRAINERD THIS WEEKEND AT LUCAS OIL NHRA NATIONALS IN NITRO FUNNY CARS
BRAINERD, MN – Despite running solid numbers in the last couple of months, drag racing luck hasn’t fallen the right way for the father-son
Funny Car team of Chad and Hunter Green. Tough breaks have followed the two drivers in recent NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series races as the campaign comes to Brainerd International Raceway this weekend (Aug. 15-17).
After a season-opening victory at the NHRA Gatornationals in the Bond-Coat Ford Mustang, father Chad was ready for a solid run at the coveted NHRA Mission Funny Car World Championship. But close early round losses have kept the Midland, Texas racer’s quest to stay in the top five in points.
“I will tell you that we have run good numbers in qualifying and eliminations this summer,” said C. Hunter, currently 12th in Funny Car points entering this weekend’s Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. “We have been on the short end of close races and taking on the quickest car of the round. Numerous times we have been the second quickest in the round, but we lost to the quickest car. Just tough breaks throughout the tour for us. But we feel that our luck will turn as we head to Brainerd.” Continue reading

Hunter Green, a rookie in the highly competitive Funny Car class, has been developing into a solid racer with each event this year and took his Chad Green Motorsports Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat to an impressive sixth qualifying position at a personal best 3.897 seconds. Hunter then upset former NHRA World Champion J.R. Todd in the opening round of eliminations with a time of 3.915 seconds at 333.00 miles per hour. CONSISTENT FUNNY CAR RUNS FOR CHAD & HUNTER GREEN BRINGS PROMISE AT NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS DESPITE EARLY LOSSES
KENT, WA – After a tough month of June with hot and humid weather, Chad and Hunter Green faced a new challenge with cooler and
overcast conditions at this weekend’s Muckleshoot Casino NHRA Northwest Nationals with their nitro-burning Funny Cars.
The popular father-son duo was seeking more consistent runs in the unique weather and Chad quickly established that in the first round of qualifying with a stellar 3.928 which put his CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang in the No. 2 position after Friday’s session. In Saturday’s qualifications, father Chad continued his solid showings with 3.943 and 3.959, as he finished sixth in the 16-car field.
Meanwhile, Hunter Green has made a rapid climb with the CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat in his “rookie” Funny Car season and that learning process was different for the young Texas racer. After losing traction on Friday’s qualifying pass, Hunter returned with a solid 4.039 recording and he achieved a starting position for Sunday’s eliminations. Continue reading
POPULAR FATHER-SON TEAM OF CHAD & HUNTER GREEN READY FOR NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS THIS WEEKEND IN NITRO FUNNY CARS
KENT, WA – Chad Green has an difficult job of mentoring his son, Hunter, in one of the toughest motorsports classes to drive — a nitro-
burning, 12,000-horsepower Funny Car — as the popular father-son duo compete in the NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series this year.
Chad Green, the 2025 NHRA Gatornationals champion from Midland, Tex., brought his son into the Funny Car fray this year after Hunter captured the prestigious U.S. Nationals Top Alcohol Dragster division last year at Indianapolis.
And the younger Green has already shown his talent in fire-breathing straight line monsters.
Hunter Green defeated four-time NHRA World Champion Matt Hagan at Richmond last month in only his fourth Funny Car race, and now he comes to Pacific Raceways for this weekend’s (July 18-20) Muckleshoot Casino Northwest Nationals for another solid performance with the Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat machine. HUNTER GREEN QUALIFIES WELL IN THE SCHAEFFLER DODGE HELLCAT AT SUMMIT NATIONALS, CHAD GREEN LOSES ANOTHER CLOSE ONE
NORWALK, OH – Young Hunter Green, only in his fifth NHRA Funny Car event, recorded another impressive qualifying run this weekend at
the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals with the Chad Green Motorsports Schaeffler Dodge//SRT Hellcat with a seventh place position in the 16-car field at Summit Motorsports Park.
The Midland, Tex., Funny Car “rookie” took his bright green Schaeffler nitro-burning machine to a solid 3.972 seconds pass at 322.50 miles per hour in the Friday night qualifications in hot and humid conditions at the popular Ohio racing plant. At the time of the run, Green ranked second in the field and ended up seventh after Saturday’s two qualifying sessions.
In the first round of eliminations, Green had to battle veteran Bob Tasca III and Hunter’s mount lost traction early in the 1000-foot action with Tasca advancing to the second round. Saturday and Sunday’s on-track action was hampered by track surface temperatures in 130 and 140 degrees, making for difficult settings with the 12,000-horsepower race cars. “That qualifying run was very good in the tricky conditions with the heat and the humidity,” said H. Green. Continue reading
HUNTER & CHAD GREEN FIGHT BRUTAL TRACK CONDITIONS IN VIRGINIA, HUNTER WINS FIRST ROUND BATTLE OVER FORMER CHAMPION HAGAN
NORTH DINWIDDIE, VA – Hunter Green, only in his fourth NHRA national event in nitro-burning Funny Car for the father-son team at
Chad Green Motorsports, pulled off a big upset in the first round of eliminations Sunday at the American Rebel Light NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park with 90-plus degree heat.
The 30-year-old racer from Midland, Tex., drove the Pronto Auto Service Centers Dodge Hellcat to an opening round win over four-time NHRA World Funny Car World Champion Matt Hagan of Tony Stewart Racing. Hunter took the margin off the starting line and held the advantage to the finish with a 4.064-second clocking to Hagan’s 4.088.
In the quarterfinals, Hunter recorded another starting line jump against another former World Champion, J.R. Todd, and he took the lead at the start again before an engine issue cost him a possible victory. Todd took the win with 4.075 to Green’s slowing 4.151. “The conditions were pretty brutal with over 90 degrees and a track surface over 130 degrees,” said H. Green. “But I was ready against those two heavy hitters in Matt and J.R. I got the starting line advantage in both races. Against Matt, I wasn’t sure if I had won. I knew it was close as the engine died at 900 feet. But it felt great to get a big win against driver like Matt. Continue reading
