CHAD GREEN REACHES QUARTERFINALS AT INAUGURAL NHRA POTOMAC NATIONALS
MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Chad Green and the CGM Bond-Coat/bproauto Ford Mustang team had a strong showing at the inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals at Maryland International Raceway Sunday, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling in a close battle with Jordan Vandergriff.
Green, a two-time winner in the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series with victories at the Gatornationals and Route 66 Nationals, qualified fifth with a 3.985-second pass at 320.36 mph. In the opening round, he dispatched veteran Paul Lee with a 3.975 at 323.27 mph to Lee’s 4.016. That set up a quarterfinal matchup between the two most recent Funny Car winners — Green from Route 66 and Vandergriff from the Georgia Nationals. Vandergriff edged Green at the stripe, 3.996 to 4.008, to advance to the semifinals.
“We are way too far from worrying about the points right now,” said Green. “We just want to go out and pick up win lights. I just wanted to get by that first round — you are nervous on how the track will be overnight, and Paul Lee is always tough. So that was a big one to start. I knew we had a tough matchup with Jordan and the Force car. We were close but just missed. I loved the fans here at MIR. They packed the place and it was a great atmosphere. We’ll be ready for the Epping race this coming weekend.”

CGM Bond-Coat/bproauto Ford Mustang driver arrives at Maryland International Raceway fourth in points and closing fast on the championship lead
MECHANICSVILLE, MD — Chad Green arrives at the inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals Presented by JEGS at Maryland International Raceway this weekend riding a wave of momentum, looking to add a third Wally trophy to his 2026 collection after an impressive victory at the Route 66 Nationals two weeks ago.

At Route 66 Raceway, he defeated Georgia winner Jordan Vandergriff, three-time world champion Ron Capps, reigning two-time world champion Austin Prock, and Alexis DeJoria in the final round to claim his second win of the year.

JOLIET, IL — Chad Green drove his CGM Bond-Coat/bproauto Ford Mustang Funny Car to his second national event victory of the 2026 season Sunday at the Gerber Collision & Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois.

Father-Son Texas Duo Meet in Quarterfinals – Son Takes the Win

Veteran Chad Green Returns to the South Georgia Motorsports Park with son Hunter for CGM Funny Car Combo in Southern Nationals
Father-Son Duo Aims for Another 2026 NHRA Funny Car Victory This Weekend
ADEL, GA – South Georgia Motorsports Park will host its first NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series national event this weekend with the Southern Nationals (May 1-3), and Texas driver Chad Green will bring valuable local experience to the historic venue as one of the few Funny Car competitors with prior racing history at the Valdosta-area track.
Green, the reigning 2025 and 2026 NHRA Gatornationals champion, previously competed and tested at the facility in the Pro Mod division. This weekend, however, he will unleash a 12,000-horsepower nitro Funny Car alongside his son Hunter in the CGM Bond-Coat race cars. The father-son tandem from Midland, Texas, stands as the only father-son pairing in the highly competitive NHRA Funny Car division and enters the event as strong contenders.
Currently fourth in the NHRA Mission Funny Car points standings, Chad Green is eager to build on his early-season momentum.
“I have been to the Georgia track many times with the Pro Mod car,” said Chad Green. “I think it will be a good track for an NHRA national event. We had some clutch issues last week at Charlotte, but I think we have them solved. And I’m excited for Hunter and I to run in the Southern Nationals. We want to get back to the winner’s circle soon after kicking off the season with a win at Gainesville. I believe we have the team to consistently run for the win. And Hunter’s car is improving with each race. I know he is anxious for this weekend’s race.”

CHAD & HUNTER GREEN, FUNNY CAR’S FATHER-SON TEAM, BATTLE TOUGH FIELD SUNDAY AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS WITH CGM BOND-COAT NITRO CARSals
Chad Advances to Semifinals; Hunter Just Misses Upset in Round One
CONCORD, NC – The father-and-son duo of Chad and Hunter Green competed in the unique NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway on Sunday, taking on a competitive 16-car Funny Car field with their CGM Bond-Coat nitro-burning machines. Chad Green advanced to the semifinals in his Ford Mustang, while Hunter Green, in just his second race of the 2026 season, nearly pulled off a major upset in the first round.
Chad Green, the reigning 2026 Gatornationals Funny Car champion, qualified eighth in the 16-car field and delivered a strong 3.950-second pass in the opening round against Ron Capps, Austin Prock, and Spencer Hyde. He advanced alongside Capps to the semifinals. Seeking to reach the final for the second consecutive year at zMax Dragway, Green’s Mustang lost traction off the starting line in the semifinals against eventual winner Ron Capps and J.R. Todd, causing him to coast to the finish.
Despite the result, Chad remains fourth in the NHRA Funny Car points standings heading into this weekend’s NHRA Southern Nationals.

FATHER-SON FUNNY CAR TEAM OF CHAD & HUNTER GREEN SET FOR 4-WIDE NATIONALS THIS WEEKEND WITH 12,000-HORSEPOWER CGM BOND-COAT CARS
CONCORD, NC – Chad and Hunter Green, the father and son drag racing team from Midland, Texas, will team up again this weekend (April 24-26) as the pair bring their nitro-burning Funny Cars to zMax Dragway for the popular NHRA 4-Wide Nationals.
The Texas Funny Car father-son duo hopes to reach the coveted zMax Dragway winner’s circle this weekend. Chad Green, last month’s NHRA Gatornationals Funny Car champion, battled to the final round last year at Charlotte in his CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang in a wild 4-wide finish. Hunter Green, a former U.S. Nationals Top Alcohol dragster winner who captured that title in 2024, has proven to be a strong contender as a rookie in 2025 at the wheel of the 12,000-horsepower CGM Bond-Coat Dodge Hellcat Funny Car. The duo has performed well together in the nitro-burning monsters over the past year as Hunter continues to gain valuable experience.
The Greens are the only father-son duo in the NHRA nitro divisions with their CGM Bond-Coat Funny Cars. Chad’s recent Gatornationals victory proves that their machines can find the victory lane early in the 20-race NHRA national campaign. Hunter shares his mount with veteran driver Blake Alexander for half of the racing tour and is ready for the four-wide competition after competing last year in the races at Charlotte and Las Vegas.

Green clocked a 3.963-second pass at 326.87 mph to defeat Lee, who smoked the tires early in his run. In the quarterfinals, Green recorded a 3.970-second run at 325.22 mph, but fell to John Force Racing’s Jordan Vandergriff, who posted a quicker 3.914 to advance.
Despite the loss, Green remains fourth in the NHRA Mission Funny Car point standings with 223 points as the series heads to Charlotte.
