CAMRIE CARUSO READY TO TAKE NEXT STEP IN COUNTDOWN AT CHARLOTTE

MOORESVILLE, NC – Camrie Caruso has made North Carolina her second home for several years since she started her professional drag racing career. The third generation drag racer from New York state will always call the northeast home, but she is becoming more and more comfortable at zMax Dragway with every passing national event. “I felt really good going into race day in Reading and I have a race car that can go rounds,” said Caruso, who picked up her first Countdown round win last weekend. “This class is crazy competitive, but this Tequila Comisario Camaro make some great runs on Sunday and I think we can step it up in Charlotte. I love racing at zMax Dragway and I know we’ll have a ton of support in the stands.”

CARUSO RACES TO QUARTERFINALS TO START COUNTDOWN

READING, PA – Today during the first race of the 2023 NHRA Countdown Camrie Caruso and the Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro raced to a quarterfinal finish and secured the young driver’s first round win of her playoff career. Last year during her rookie campaign Caruso entered the Countdown No. 10 but suffered six straight first round losses in a tough end to a strong rookie campaign. This weekend Caruso’s Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro battled through two days of qualifying and entered race day as the No. 12 qualifier.

In the final qualifying session on Saturday Caruso made her best run of the weekend and gave the team confidence heading into a first round race with fellow Countdown competitor Deric Kramer. In the opening round today the veteran driver was first off the line against the second year pro, but Caruso quickly caught up to him and moved around him at half-track when he experienced severe tire-shake. Caruso made her quickest run of the weekend, a strong 6.537 second run at 209.36 mph to advance to the second round.

“Getting that first Countdown round win definitely helps,” said Caruso, who won her first Pro Stock race at the Arizona Nationals this season. “I didn’t like seeing my teammate Dallas Glenn go out so early, but the points are going to tighten up now. We are looking forward to getting to Charlotte and qualifying better and going rounds on Sunday. There are five races left and we want to do everything we can to try and win this championship.”

This Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro team is ready for the next six races. I am looking forward to getting back to Maple Grove Raceway for the second time and seeing if we can get another win this season.”

CAMRIE CARUSO RACES TO QUARTERFINALS AT U.S NATIONALS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For second year Pro Stock driver Camrie Caruso the 69th NHRA Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals was the conclusion of the NHRA regular season and a chance to build momentum heading into the NHRA Countdown. Through five rounds of qualifying Caruso and her Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro posted consistently quick runs and moved into race day as the No. 9 qualifier.

“Qualifying was tough but we made consistent passes and got a lot of good info,” said Caruso, the 2022 NHRA Rookie of the Year. “Our first run on Friday night got us solidly in the field and then we just raced the track as it got warmer all weekend.”

Today, facing Cristian Cuadra in the first round Caruso was ready to take on the No. 8 qualifier. As both Pro Stock race cars executed their burnouts Caruso began to roll back to the starting line while Cuadra stopped on the track. As NHRA officials began to examine the track behind Cuadra’s race car it became apparent that his car was leaking oil and he was shut off. Caruso took a competition bye and posted a solid 6.630 second pass at 206.51 mph to move to the next round to face No. 1 qualifier Matt Hartford.

Camrie Caruso Headed to U.S. Nationals with Winning Attitude

MOORESVILLE, NC – In a season with multiple high points, second rear Pro Stock driver Camrie Caruso is looking to the Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals, August 31-September 4, as her chance to once again rise to the occasion. The 2022 NHRA Rookie of the Year has won at the highest level, picking up her first Pro Stock win at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, and she followed that up in May with a victory at the first Pro Stock Allstar Callout race in Chicago. Racing the Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro with power by KB Titan Racing the third-generation drag racer is ready for a return visit to the biggest race of the year in Indianapolis.

“The U.S. Nationals is the biggest race of the year, and it leads right into the Countdown, so you want to build some positive momentum,” said Caruso, who has also won in Top Alcohol Dragster. “The competition has been so tough this year we really want to make some good runs in qualifying so we can give ourselves the best chance on race day. I am excited about getting five qualifying sessions because I think we can get a lot of good data for this Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro team.”

Last year Caruso raced in her first U.S. Nationals and the young driver was not overwhelmed even though she did not have a tremendous qualifying effort. After multiple runs she entered race day as the No. 11 qualifier but she stepped up her performance game winning her first round match-up with veteran Aaron Stanfield before dropping a close race to multi-time world champion Erica Enders in the quarterfinals. The experience of racing in Indy left an impression on Caruso.

CAMRIE CARUSO DROPS CLOSE OPENING ROUND IN BRAINERD

BRAINERD, MN – For the first time in her young career 2022 NHRA Rookie of the Year Camrie Caruso took on Brainerd International Raceway. After two days of qualifying the Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro powered by KB Titan Racing made four quality runs. On Friday her quickest elapsed time of 6.631 second at 206.13 mph held up to put Caruso into the show as the No. 9 qualifier.

In the first round Caruso faced fellow KB Titan Racing teammate Kyle Koretsky and his Lucas Oil Chevrolet Camaro. This was the first time the two young drivers have faced each other in 2023 and Caruso was looking for her first win over Koretsky. Caruso made her quickest and fastest run of the weekend in the losing effort.

“It was a good race,” said Caruso, who won the NHRA Arizona Nationals earlier this season. “We made our best pass of the weekend. It wasn’t enough which is tough.
