ENDERS, B. FORCE, HAGAN AND JOHNSON WIN IN FRONT OF SELLOUT CROWD AT HOUSTON’S FINAL NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

BAYTOWN, TX – In the first all-female final round in NHRA Pro Stock history, Houston native Erica Enders closed out Houston Raceway Park in style, picking up the win in front of a sold-out crowd at her home track on Sunday at the 35th and final NHRA SpringNationals.

Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Steve Johnson (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won the fifth of 22 races during the 2022 season as the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series enjoyed consecutive days of sellout crowds to close out racing at Houston Raceway Park.

Enders, a four-time Pro Stock world champion, knocked off rookie and No. 1 qualifier Camrie Caruso in the championship round, getting her third win this season and 36th in her career with a pass of 6.568-seconds at 210.24 mph in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro. It’s also her third Pro Stock win at Houston Raceway Park, where Enders grew up racing. Her first national event win came in Super Gas in 2004 at Houston and she finished her racing at the facility with an impressive Pro Stock win thanks to round wins against Cristian Cuadra, Matt Hartford, and Kyle Koretsky. That led to a historic and memorable final round where Enders was able to track down Caruso at the finish line, moving into the points lead as well.

HOME SWEET HOME: PRO STOCK’S ERICA ENDERS LOOKS TO CLOSE OUT RUN AT HOME TRACK WITH NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS WIN

BAYTOWN, TX – It’s where Erica Enders grew up racing and after building years of memories, the four-time Pro Stock world champion will now try to close out Houston Raceway Park with a NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series victory.

The 35th and final NHRA SpringNationals takes place this weekend at the legendary facility, giving Enders one last opportunity to add another great moment to her Houston legacy. Her first national event win came at her home track in 2004 in Super Gas, and she added Pro Stock wins at the facility in 2014 and 2015 en route to championships both years, and Enders has always loved putting on a show in front of family and friends.

Her career started at the track in the Jr. Dragster class and the fitting storyline in Enders’ mind would be grabbing a win in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in the last NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series event at Houston Raceway Park.

TOP FUEL’S TONY SCHUMACHER LOOKS TO CLOSE OUT HOUSTON RACEWAY PARK WITH WIN AT NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

BAYTOWN, TX – A three-time winner at Houston Raceway Park, Tony Schumacher has the chance to be the final winner of the NHRA SpringNationals, which takes place this weekend at the legendary track just outside of Houston.

It also means Schumacher could finish with the most Top Fuel wins in the history of Houston Raceway Park if he closes it out with a victory. That would be almost fitting for Schumacher, whose eight Top Fuel world titles and 85 wins leads all drivers in the class. He’s eager for a fourth – and final – win at Houston Raceway Park in his 11,000-horsepower Scag Power Equipment dragster and doing it in front of the massive crowds expected in Houston would make it even sweeter.

“Houston’s a powerful track, so I’m looking forward to this weekend,” Schumacher said. “It’s the last year and it’s going to be a sold-out show, so that’s going to be exciting. It’s a beautiful place and we’ve had some great success there and I just love racing there. The last time I was there (in 2020), we went out and won it, and we would love to do that again.”

NHRA SET TO CLOSE OUT HOUSTON RACEWAY PARK IN STYLE WITH 35TH ANNUAL NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

BAYTOWN, TX – The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series is set to make its final appearance at Houston Raceway Park, closing out a long and illustrious history at the legendary track on April 22-24 with the 35th annual NHRA SpringNationals.

The final NHRA national event in Houston is also the fifth race of the 2022 season and it promises to be one to remember. Already approaching sell-out status for the historic weekend, fans are eager to be part of the final race at a facility that has produced countless memories for more than three decades and has annually been one of the largest sporting events in Southeast Texas.

“It looks like our final NHRA race will be one for the record books,” Houston Raceway Park General Manager Seth Angel said. “We’ve already sold out of all the full event packages for both the Nitro Club and the Top Eliminator Club and single-day passes for both of those areas are becoming pretty scarce. Tickets in the remainder of the grandstands are selling quickly so we’re recommending any interested fans jump on HoustonRaceway.com as soon as possible to get their tickets. We don’t want anyone to miss out.”

Final NHRA pro drag race at Houston Raceway Park nearing sell-out status

HOUSTON – The 35th annual NHRA SpringNationals at legendary Houston Raceway Park has become the hottest ticket in motorsports as it approaches sell-out status more than two weeks before the event kicks off on the weekend of April 22-24.

“It looks like our final NHRA race will be one for the record books,” General Manager Seth Angel said. “We’ve already sold out of all the full event packages for both the Nitro Club and the Top Eliminator Club and single-day passes for both of those areas are becoming pretty scarce. Tickets in the remainder of the grandstands are selling quickly so we’re recommending interested fans jump on HoustonRaceway.com as soon as possible to get their tickets. We don’t want anyone to miss out.”

It appears drag racing fans in Southeast Texas want to be a big part of the last NHRA event at the historic drag strip, where the sport’s first four-second Top Fuel pass was recorded. Late last year, the Angel family, which has owned and operated Houston Raceway Park since its inception, announced this event would be their final NHRA race, prompting area fans and nostalgic history buffs to make a run on seats.

The timing seems perfect for local enthusiasts as a pair of decorated Texans will headline the event. Four-time and reigning Top Fuel champion Steve Torrence of Kilgore arrives in his home state with the points lead in the 10,000-horspower category. He’s definitely a favorite to claim the final Top Fuel Wally at the track, having won last year’s Houston event in grand style.

B. FORCE, CAPPS AND ENDERS CLAIM WINS AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS – In a star-studded final round featuring the last eight Top Fuel world champions, it was Brittany Force who powered to the win, claiming an impressive victory on Sunday at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) also won at the fourth of 22 races during the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

In a championship quad that also included four-time defending world champ Steve Torrence, Tony Schumacher and Antron Brown, Force went 3.718-seconds at 338.00 mph in her 11,000-horsepower Monster Energy dragster to pick up her first win this season and 12th in her career. Force, who finished second in the opening round quad and won in the second round, also picked up her first four-wide victory in Vegas and became the fourth different winner in four races in Top Fuel. Combined, the four drivers in the final round have claimed 16 world titles, but it was Force, the 2017 world champ, who drove off with the win.

“This is huge for our team,” said Force, who moved to second in the loaded Top Fuel category. “It was not easy out there and we faced tough competition all day, but we’re excited to get a win like this. You look at that final quad and to get win, that’s really something to be proud of. It puts a fire under us and getting in that winner’s circle, there’s no better feeling than that. It’s been a little bit of a tough start for us, but coming into the season I knew it was going to be the toughest year yet in this class. I see a great future ahead with this team. It’s a great group and the hardest bunch of workers I’ve been around, and I’m so proud of our guys.”
